After a dominant first week, Star-Lord, Master of the Sun is now posting fairer numbers, at least if we look at the infinite rank. There, the metagame adapted against the card, with Cosmo, Negasonic Teenage Warhead and such ways to prevent its reveal or repeat it multiple time are quite popular. Plus, the curiosity to see what will happen with that much energy is gone, meaning players will often be quick to retreat when the season pass card comes down on turn four or five.
Drax, Avatar of Life has been rather quiet during its first days in Marvel Snap, joining Aurora decks as a new End of Turn target as its sole accomplishment. In those, the 3-cost represents another way to generate points flexibly, but isn’t a core piece of the archetype.
Overall, both cards are doing fine, and should complete their missions with ease. Unfortunately, the OTA has yet to impact anything, so we likely are headed to another week of Star-Lord, Master of the Sun against decks looking to contain it.
| Mission | # | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Complete Hard Daily Missions | 15 | 150 Credits |

Drax, Avatar of Life Performance

The new 3-cost is posting solid numbers across the board, without looking like a card we should worry about either. Its best performance is when used in a deck Doctor Doom 2099 as another generic strong 3-cost. There, Drax, Avatar of Life is another target for Aurora, and a good chunk of points for its cost.
The card also sees play in generic Aurora decks, but those are both less popular, and posting weaker numbers compared to the Doom deck.

Star-Lord, Master of the Sun

As we look closer to the higher ranks, Star-Lord, Master of the Sun doesn’t look like the problem it was last week. Indeed, both metrics are excellent in the Infinite Rank, but almost look weak compared to the global picture.
The reason is how the current season pass card operates, focusing on itself first and foremost. In an environment not tailored to contain it, or filled with players who cared about their cubes, Star-Lord, Master of the Sun is one of the most impactful cards in Marvel Snap. Once in the more competitive spheres, it is toned down to just a strong card.

Bonus Challenge Decks
There might be a chance both cards could co-exist in a Ramp build around Doctor Doom 2099. Otherwise, it might be safer to complete the missions separately this weekend.
Fortunately, neither cards are played in very complex archetypes, meaning we should be able to pick up a deck and quickly play it well enough to win some games. Obviously, Star-Lord, Master of the Sun offers more options due to being a foundational card rather than a good standalone.
However, keep in mind the metagame has adapted against the season pass card over the past week. Especially if you play in the higher ranks, expect some counter picks along the way.
