Snap Packs are the new way to collect cards in Marvel Snap. Basically, these are limited pools of cards you can draw from instead of paying the full price for specific cards.
In today’s guide, we’ll cover the Collector’s Series 3 Snap Pack, the most controversial in my opinion. Indeed, while Snap Pack are supposed to offer a cheaper price at the cost of not being able to cherry-pick the card we want, Series 3 cards are free to collect already. Then, this particular Snap Pack isn’t about getting a better deal, rather, it is about trying to get a card we really want immediately, at the cost of 650 Tokens.
Honestly, I don’t even want to wait for the closing words to tell you this: the Collector’s Series 3 Snap Pack is not worth investing into. This is a mostly a seemingly cheap roulette to fasten your Series 3 collection, that will only put you back once you will only have Series 4 or 5 cards to collect, which you can’t get for free.
With that said, I also understand the frustration of constantly witnessing decks we can’t build, or losing to cards we don’t have. I want to say it is part of learning the game, but it has caused so many players to quit in the past, it is important to acknowledge it. As such, don’t consider this Snap Pack a trade of 650 Collector’s Tokens against a new card. Instead, look at is as 650 tokens to slightly reduce your frustration.
Which Cards are in the Collector’s Series 3 Snap Pack?
Series 3 is the largest one in Marvel Snap, meaning you are truly playing roulette when opening the Snap Pack. In reality, I believe it is even worse to open it when you have most cards from this pool, as it means you are very close from getting the one you want for free. Then, although there are many cards worth 650 tokens in here, just be aware playing with fire is part of the deal.
Which Cards are Worth Opening?
In my opinion, all the cards in the first three tiers are playable one way or another, meaning I wouldn’t mind getting them from 650 tokens if this was the only way to collect them. However, this isn’t what this Snap Pack is about. The deal here is to trade 650 Tokens to skip the waiting line and get the card right now.
Once again, this is the problem with this Snap Pack. I don’t get the card I want for 650 tokens, I only get to draw one card from the entire pool of Series 3 cards I’m missing. The smaller the pool, and the higher chance I have to get what I want, but also the shortest amount of time I am buying.
At the moment, we get four Series 3 cards per 9 Collector’s Reserves we open. We get one reserve every 12 collection levels we gain, meaning we have to gain 120 levels to get to 9 as there is no tenth reserve at 120. According to LaurenWhatevs’s math, which is another way to say it is the right math, we can complete 120 Collection levels for about 4850 credits. For a free to play player, no season pass, one can gain enough resource to get 181 collection levels per week. Let’s round that up to 180, which is 120 × 1.5, so theoretically, this means one collects around 6 new Series 3 cards (4 × 1.5) per week if they optimize where possible.
This gives us the rough value of 650 tokens for a new card, a little over a day, 28 hours to be precise. Then, the value of the Collector’s Series 3 Snap Pack is about a day, maybe one more mission’s reset, worth of playing.
Now, the question is: which cards would I want right now, rather than wait one or two days to get for free?
Deadpool and Dracula only have one deck, but they are strong ones at this stage of your journey.
As for the other 5, they all unlock deckbuilding possibilities or strategies you wouldn’t be able to access without them. As such, if I was to consider spending 650 tokens, it would be in the hope to get one of those.
From there, I’m not going to tell you the percentages I need to open one, but I personally would not open, ever. Indeed, I’m the type that is fine waiting for a day or two to get a card, while pulling from a large panel is way too random in my opinion.
When Should I Open the Collector’s Series 3 Snap Pack?
With all I’ve said in this article already, you can probably guess I don’t recommend opening this Snap Pack ever. Paying tokens to get a card I can get for free already doesn’t sound good, but I get the trade of currency against time, we do it all the time in real life. However, the added layer of randomness makes it too much in my opinion, and is the main reason why I don’t recommend spending 650 tokens for this particular Snap Pack. Even more so because we need those same tokens for cards we can only access with them.
With that said, if you were so frustrated with the game that 650 tokens would allow you to enjoy it again, please dismiss this entire article and go have a good time.
Open on your own terms is my recommendation for the Collector’s Series 3 Snap Pack.
