Rocket and Groot Decks & Week in Review: Bonus Challenge Guide

Complete the Bonus Challenge Missions efficiently using our decks, or find out how they are performing with our review and decide if you should get the card!

During the weekend, there is now one more set of Missions for players to complete: The Bonus Challenge! These involve additional rewards for winning games related to the week’s new card and the Season Pass card. These missions provide extra Collector’s Tokens, Gold, and Credits!

You need to win games with the card starting in your deck, and it does not count if the card was generated by cards such as Cable, Loki, and Maria Hill. Each of these reward amounts will vary depending on the difficulty of the mission. However, you don’t have to play the card during the course of the match for it to count, it just needs to be in your starting twelve!

There will be Bonus Challenge Missions available for each new card release to allow players to earn back Collector’s Tokens and subsidize their cost. Players can also expect the rewards to be stabilized at 200 Tokens to help them plan their token budget for the month.

Marvel Rivals: Bonus Challenges – January 3, 2025

This week’s Bonus Challenge Missions are:

Mission#Reward
Move Cards15150 Credits
Win with Rocket and Groot starting in your Deck4200 Collector’s Tokens
Win with Galacta starting in your Deck8150 Gold

Most players will want to be efficient with these missions, so today we will give you a few different decks that incorporate all the cards featured each weekend. You can find the current best performing deck for each card down below, as well as some other options to match your collection or play style preferences.

We’ll also give you a short guide on how to get the most out of the decks and finish the missions quickly. First, let’s take a quick look at the new card’s performance this week.

For more information about the new card, make sure to check out our latest strategy guide on Rocket and Groot as well:

Rocket and Groot Performance

Rocket and Groot Meta Stats

While it isn’t such a bad card when on the field, it looks like Rocket and Groot has been played in weak decks so far (or inconsistent ones at the very least). Indeed, both On Draw metrics are alarming, while the On Play metrics are only average. This means that Rocket and Groot are helping the deck when on the board, but the decks it is in tend to lose more without the new card.

Looking at the best performing decks, Rocket and Groot isn’t a staple in any of them, but it is a consideration in several. The card looks to be a good one, but it’s unfortunately eclipsed by other, better options in the 3-Cost pool.

Post-Release Score:

Rating: 5 out of 10.

Galacta Performance

Galacta Meta Stats History

Nothing new for Galacta this week, except that the entire community seems to be Snapping when she gets played since the the Cube Rate on Play is through the roof. The card has been stellar all season long, keeping her archetypes competitive throughout the entire Marvel Rivals season—and this last week might have been her best.

Post-Release Score:

Rating: 8 out of 10.

Galacta + Rocket and Groot Decks

Galacta has proven her flexibility time and time again this season, so it is no surprise to see her easily match with Rocket and Groot to offer multiple decks featuring both cards.

These are all meta staples with both cards included, so there’s nothing too complicated to pick up for anyone who has been playing this season.

There are many more archetypes you can consider if you’re only looking to complete the missions for one of the two cards. Rocket and Groot is doing pretty well alongside Scream as a solo act.

Closing Thoughts

Both cards are solid standalone additions to a deck, so there should be absolutely no trouble in completing either the Galacta or the Rocket and Groot missions this week. While you can pair them together in basically any archetype that features Galacta, Rocket and Groot looks flexible enough to join other archetypes as well. Plus, the card has helped Nebula gain some popularity since its release, so you might even be able to break away from the current Zabu / Hydra Bob early turns that most decks are built around.

Hopefully this guide helps you decide if you want the card prior to the missions coming out, as well as what you can play to complete the missions quickly!

Good Game Everyone.
