Asgard Hot Location Guide: Strategy, Best Cards and Decks
Table of Contents
The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Asgard: After turn 4, whoever is winning here draws 2 cards. Hot Locations happen every week, starting Sunday at 3 AM GMT. The chosen location has a 60% increased chance of appearing during games. Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! So what do you play?
Strategy and General Tips
Asgard is back! This location is an interesting one as it doesn’t directly enable specific combinations but drawing cards inherently enables a lot of decks to be better as more cards equals one of the following two outcomes:
- You get more options from your deck so you can play what is best for the game state.
- You hit can hit combinations more consistently.

Both of these are good for almost any deck in Marvel Snap (yes I said almost – you don’t want to draw all your cards if you’re playing Lockjaw). So this deck feature article will likely only scratch the surface and I strongly encourage everyone to try out their own ideas for this one. This is potentially a deck building paradise, if you keep one key thing in mind – you want to be winning Asgard on Turn 4 and you will know if Asgard is showing up by Turn 3. The major downside is you have to win Asgard as it also denies your opponent drawing cards and that is also good. You also cannot overcommit as you may leave yourself open to being beaten on the lane later.
Here are some cards to help you win Asgard on Turn 4:
- Iceman
- Sunspot
- Rocket Raccoon
- Angela
- Lizard
- Armor
- Bucky Barnes
- Star-Lord
- Groot
- Thor
- Polaris
- Green Goblin
- Typhoid Mary
- Jubilee
- Attuma
- Crossbones
- Drax
- Warpath
So as mentioned up top, with so many options it truly could lead to some crazy outcomes, but the less obvious synergy is actually Zabu. Zabu on 3 will let you play two 4 drops to win Asgard and then get all the other cards you need to win the game.
Pool 1
Series 1 may be able to take advantage of the opponent playing into Asgard by triggering Rocket Raccoon and Star-Lord, potentially with Angela (Asgardians of the Galaxy anyone?) allowing for extra draw, hitting White Tiger and Odin for a finish. It doesn’t age well into Series 2 but is a combination that works better with Asgard and makes a somewhat inconsistent deck much more consistent.
Pool 2
Ongoing as several cards which can allow us to maintain control of Asgard. The added bonus being we are then more likely to draw Spectrum as a finisher, buffing the lane again later if your opponent tries to come over the top. Warpath on 4 in particular can win the lane and allow for more power to be added later.
Simple enough deck but should get a boost from the location. Could also try Onslaught over Ironman to double some effects.
Series 3
Up first is something different to consider this week. This deck utilises Daredevil to lock out a lane on 5 and then allows for a follow up with… The Guardians of the Galaxy! Looking to utilise the freshly buffed Groot and Drax on 3 and 4 to win the location, drawing the rest of our tools and allowing for Turn 5 Professor X and Hobgoblin. Leader could be a better finisher but to stay on theme, the Turn 6 goal is to play 2 Guardians on the lane we need to win and scale above what your opponent plays.
This one serves as an example of the sort of combinations we can look to draw more consistently with the location. You can swap out the payoff for many combinations, but this one goes with White Tiger, Black Panther or Doctor Doom. Using the early game we have a shot at winning Asgard, if we do we will either already have ramped allowing for us to ensure we draw into one of the 6 drops for Turn 5 and if we don’t we go about setting up Wong, Odin combinations.
I will just leave this here.
Zabu into 2 good 4 cost cards winning Asgard, then ensuring you draw the rest of them for Turns 5 and 6.
After Credits
Destroy is still good into this location. Bucky Barnes and Carnage is often enough power alone to win Asgard or tie it. Galactus, Hazmat and other degenerate combinations can also be built around for this location.
Additionally Storm can be huge as opponents may over invest into Asgard and you make it irrelevant or turn the game into a two lane game. One deck stands out to me as one that may be able to do some work and not be expected – Patriot.
If you can win Asgard with Patriot you will win more games as you’re more likely to be able to play Patriot. If you want win the location, we can include Storm in this deck to stop the location and add power later or just focus our buffs on the other locations.
