Overall, the metagame is pretty much the same at the moment. Indeed, Wolverine Horseman of War had no impact on Marvel Snap’s environment, at best joining buff oriented archetypes.
Stryfe is much stronger, and made its way into a variety of decks. However, the On Reveal synergy was already great, so most decks using Stryfe were around last week already. Even a different On Reveal Ramp built around Stryfe doesn’t feel like a new synergy, as it is another list trying to gain energy and use powerful On Reveal abilities, just like Galactus Ramp or Sunny Ramp do.
An excellent card doesn’t equal a new way to play Marvel Snap, which is kind of what the start of a season tends to be about. Thus, the game can feel a little stale in this first week, with the goal to climb back to infinite acting as the main fuel.
| Mission | # | Reward |

Stryfe Performance

Not only Stryfe managed to pair with some of the best On Reveal archetypes in Marvel Snap, such as Wiccan, Thanos and Aurora, or the Master of the Sun, the new season pass also started a new build. Nothing fancy about that one, as the list just packs some of the best On Reveal abilities in the game, which Stryfe will happily use once in play. The ability to earn a spot into top tier archetype already points to a great card. When decks are starting to be built around it, the card becomes excellent.
As for the bot induced metrics, they are pretty solid across the board, although nothing points at Stryfe being a problem. To be fair, even if the ability is fantastic, it also means the deck is vulnerable to Cosmo, the most popular disruptive card in the game for a while

Wolverine, Horseman of War

Although bot are helping with the numbers, the global indifference ahead of Wolverine Horseman of War‘s release seems to confirm itself now that the card is available. The popularity is very low across the board, while buff oriented archetypes don’t really need the card with Gwenpool, Galacta and such already in the game.
There are decks to complete the missions, but I expect Wolverine Horseman of War to be quickly forgotten after we collect some tokens this weekend.

Bonus Challenge Decks
To no one’s surprise, Stryfe has many more competitive decks than Wolverine Horseman of War. Whether you look at the popularity of these cards, or the results of their popular archetypes, it is clear the new season pass is the better one early in the season.
