Alioth and Loki Decks: Weekend Challenge Mission Guide

Our guide for the this week's set of Weekend Challenge Missions featuring Alioth and Loki! Complete the missions efficiently using our decks, or find out how they are performing and decide if you want the card!

During the weekend, there is now one more set of Missions for players to complete: The Weekend Missions! These involve additional rewards for winning games related to the week’s new card and the Season Pass card. These missions provide extra Collector’s Tokens and Gold! This week’s Weekend Challenges are:

Mission#Reward
Destroy Cards30150 Gold
Win with Loki starting in your Deck8150 Gold
Win with Alioth starting in your Deck4200 Collector’s Tokens

You need to win games with the card starting in your deck, and it does not count if the card was generated by cards such as Cable, Loki, and Maria Hill. Each of these reward amounts will vary depending on the difficulty of the mission. There will be Weekly Missions available for each new card release. The goal of Weekly Missions is to allow players to earn back Collector’s Tokens from new cards and subsidize their cost.

The token missions are expected to differ from week to week, depending on the card. For example, three wins for 100 Collector’s Tokens, four wins for 300, and five wins for 500, depending on the week (1,000 Collector’s Tokens is on the highest end).

Most players will want to be efficient with these missions, so today we will give you three different decks that incorporate Alioth.

We’ll also give you a short guide on how to get the most out of the deck and finish the missions quickly, but first let’s take a quick look at the new card’s performance this week.

Performance

Alioth Meta Stats

Alioth is here. The big 6-drop menace is, depending on which side of the fence you’re on, one of the most anticipated or most dreaded releases we’ve had on the schedule. The card has provided a new dynamic to Turn 6 face offs as it has made it’s way into more decks. But is it worthwhile?

With Galactus, the card technically improves the decks, but, in reality, most the builds rarely need the card. It does have an impact, though, as it creates a situation where players are more comfortable going into Turn 6. This is only because Galactus is the most extreme version of setting up one of the best win conditions for Alioth: limiting the game to one or two locations. There are other ways to create this situation, like with Professor X (which can be paired perfectly with Galactus decks) and the Junk package (Debrii, Green Goblin, etc.). The latter is potentially a more consistent way to play the card for cubes since you make the last turn a question. Galactus, on the other hand, wins when you play Galactus.

Limiting what can happen also benefits decks that are looking to get ahead and stay ahead. Locking the game with Wave or similar cards can be another successful way to play Alioth. The Ramp style deck, High Evolutionary, and Wave Movement decks have been finding success using Alioth to seal the second lane, and these can be more effective than Galactus because the card you’re going to play isn’t as telegraphed.

Cosmo and Armor should already be in more decks. They can basically hard counter the strategies in this article, and they highlight the weaknesses Alioth has. If you’re not prepared for the possibility of this card, it will frustrate you as it just denies many plays. The strength of the ability likely means that Alioth is here to stay as a good option on Turn 6, and it could continue to find its way into many decks in the future.

So, how do we use Alioth to rack up wins and complete the Weekend Challenge Missions?

With generic Galactus decks running around everywhere, it is more important than ever to have multiple ways to win in your deck. This deck aims to have the Destroyer and Nimrod package as the back-up plan, which gives us more flexibility than other Galactus decks. Forge is here over Shuri since it can be played easier on curve and alongside Wolverine on Turn 4. Then we’ll have Nimrod down at nine power and either Galactus or Destroyer to activate it on Turn 6.

The other additional benefit of Forge is that you can can buff Wolverine if you’re going for the Hobgoblin lines instead. Alioth acts as the closer for the early Galactus games. Death can replace Jeff the Baby Land Shark (or even Alioth) in this list to add more power to the post-Galactus turns, but it shouldn’t be needed anymore.

This deck looks to use Professor X to scam one lane while setting up for Alioth on another lane. The plan is to ramp to this outcome, so the rest of the deck is a solid Electro Ramp deck that can get ahead on board for the game-winning Alioth on Turn 6.

This deck aims to limit the board as much as possible and set up a situation where you have one lane won. This way, Alioth can be your final play to secure the win. Sentry and Spider-Woman are key cards, as you need ways to win a lane with power while setting up for the Alioth play on Turn 6. They also act as a secondary way of going over the top in the final turns when combined with Titania or the Demon.

Loki: Plan A: Galactus

Hey, Loki here! It looks like SafetyBlade has tried to show you decks without me above. Well, guess what? I should be in all these decks. If you want to try a real deck, play the list below. And don’t worry; if you choose to only play this deck (which would be a wise choice), I won’t tell Safety.

Closing Thoughts

Wins with the new card may seem a tall order some weeks depending what quality of card is released. Hopefully this guide helps you decide first if you want the card prior to the missions coming out, and what you can potentially play to complete the missions quickly!
