The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Wakandan Embassy: Give +2 Power to cards in players’ hands. This is a Hot Location for Marvel Snap’s August 2023 season, Big in Japan that starts on selected Wednesdays and Sundays at 3 AM GMT. For 24 hours, it has a 50% chance of showing up in games.
Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! Let’s find out what the best strategies, cards, and decks are for the new meta!
Today’s Hot Location was originally Bar Sinister and changed to Wakandan Embassy. This guide has been updated accordingly. We apologize for any inconvenience caused!
Strategy and General Tips
Wakandan Embassy can be a significant buff on your cards in hand! This alone synergizes with most decks as the goal of the game is power on board. However, if we can hit cards which can use the extra power to grow such as Deadpool, Black Panther, and Human Torch, then we can get additional benefit. Daken is another card which now has synergy with the location (and is part of the Weekend Quests).

The strong synergies don’t stop there. Cards like Brood and Mister Sinister can be game-winning with +2 power. Along with the new Absorbing Man we can now build Patriot decks which can take advantage of this location to over power most opponents.

The important point to be aware of is the location has to flip on the first 3 turns. So if we do build with these cards in mind its important to try and have a way to ensure we have the cards we want to buff in hand. America Chavez is the silent star for this location. She will help us to push cards we want up the queue and ensure we are more likely to draw them. Another potential star is Beast, as they can get you extra value from some of the cheaper buffed cards by making them cheaper for later turns.

This is a location without interaction and in general counterplay isn’t a recommended path. Shang-Chi however can have increased value if we expect more cards to meet the 9 power threshold due to the power buffs. He can also be included in many of the strategies which benefit from the location.

Deadpool Bounce
First we look to Deadpool and Destroy. This archetype has multiple ways to abuse the extra power. Deadpool gains at a quicker rate, Venom can take the extra power, Wolverine will stay on board after multiple destroys and Knull gains from each destroy effect your trigger. This combination plus the flexibility and amount of power it can put out make it the best option for going in on the location.
Beast makes an appearance also as a way to get replayed value from cards like Yondu and Carnage. Daken adds to the cards which benefit and we add the buffed Forge in to allow for another good bounce target alongside the destroy cards.
Miracle Miles
This low-to-the-ground version of Movement is built to take advantage of the location and replay multiple buffed 1-cost cards which scale efficiently. This is a pure power deck and your aim should be to reduce key cards with Beast and then replay them on 6 without priority. As most the cards are 3 energy or under, most Beast plays will be very strong and result in plenty of cheap cards for the final turn. The added benefit over destroy here is your final ply should be reactive and able to consider what your opponent has done on Turn 5.
Shuri Sauron
Rounding out the directions, we could look to Sauron to support a Shuri deck with Black Panther. This has plenty of cards which can use the buff to create a big card for Taskmaster or Arnim Zola to copy. Not as impressive number wise as the bigger Black Panther combinations, but can output consistent power and not a direction many would be expecting at the moment.
Absorbing Patriot
The new Patriot deck on the block gains a lot from this location. The buff will be spread across multiple bodies with ease and is great on Brood as well as on the cards which could retrigger the effect such as Iron Lad and Absorbing Man. The deck wants to play Brood or Mister Sinister on 3 and then copy with Absorbing Man which plays perfectly with the location which will always flip before turn 4.
Series 2 and below (pre-CL 474)
Bringing back the old favorite for Pool 2 players. The overall meta at the moment allows for less protection on the 1 drops but we can also focus our early turns on card like Mister Sinister and Angela, holding our 1 drops for a budget Miracle turn on turn 6. The buffs make each of these cards three times more value when played allowing for surprising amounts of power to be played.
