Top New Cards of the Bloodstone Season!

We rallied more than 50 of the top Marvel Snap content creators to give us their predictions on the best cards the Bloodstone Season has to offer.

Hello everyone, and welcome to Top 5! I’m Glazer of Snap Judgments: The Official Marvel Snap Zone Podcast, and every week, we’ll be counting down a different Top 5 things you need to know in, around, and about Marvel Snap! Sometimes this will be silly in nature, but we’ll always have some pearls of wisdom to help make you the best (and best adjusted!) Marvel Snap player you can be! This week? As far as the ranking goes, a #1 ranking gained a card five points, while a #5 got one point. Let’s take a look at the participating creators, and then get to the list.

5. Man-Thing – 74 points

Votes this month were all over the place, and Man-Thing, while in last place, is not considered significantly worse by much of the panel. The game was, for a very long time, completely dominated by 4-Cost cards. A lot of that is thanks to Zabu and Darkhawk, but, while those cards are still good, they have largely disappeared from the top of the metagame – especially Zabu.

Of course, there are other synergies for Man-Thing, as Elsa Bloodstone and Loki mean that plenty of decks are running a lot of targets for him. That’s especially relevant for afflict synergies like Hazmat and High Evolutionary. Luke Cage naturally counters both of those decks and this card, though, and his play-rate is already rising in the current meta.

Eventually though, with the release of Annihilus, this card seems like a perfect fit. I can’t wait to find out! For now, though, a High Evolutionary deck is likely this Thing’s best home.

  • “Great in Junk, and could become a tech at some point. But likely too niche to become something. It’s Series 4, so maybe that will make it better than #3 and #4 because more people will have it.” – den
  • Man-Thing is a very interesting card against proactive decks. If you play it right, it’s 11 or 13 power for four energy, but unlike Nimrod with a similar power output, you have much fewer conditions here.” – Kirallas
  • “Definitely a card that’s needed to punish ‘weenie’ decks, it’s not removal but deters from playing in its zone forcing attrition in the other two.” – Perrox
  • “I’m already writing fan fiction about his limited adventures with Evolved A-Bomb, but he seems clunky as a 4-Cost.” – Mike Bollow
  • “Depends on the meta, but if Elsa Bloodstone does well, Man-Thing could be a great counter.” – SavageYeti

4. Black Knight – 83 points

I think people are absolutely sleeping on Black Knight. There’s a pipe dream going around about discarding The Infinaut regularly for a [4/20] that can be either Shuri-ed or just copied by Taskmaster. That’s going to be great, if rare, but the Ebony Blade will be most consistent with Black Cat. Add in a bit of Quinjet and some Zabu and that is 2-Cost. Add in Ghost Rider and you get your power card back. This deck should absolutely work, perhaps with Darkhawk, perhaps with Shuri. Dracula dump seems like it would be pretty nuts here, too!

  • “Lots of potential power here when paired with Lady Sif/The Infinaut/Destroyer/Magneto, etc. (Zabu, too?)” – Wolverthor as #1
  • “The fact that you can discard The Infinaut and play him as a 4-Cost, and then play Taskmaster is scary to think of…” – Prashaun as #2
  • “Fantastically unique ability, cannot wait to see how it’s used.” – TeamCounterGaming as #1
  • “The card Discard needed.” – SuperTechGod as #1

3. Nico Minoru – 88 points

This card is wild. The spells range from phenomenal to extremely hard to take advantage of. They’re likely good with Elsa Bloodstone, which means they are likewise good in Bounce. I don’t think that’s really debatable. What is a concern though is the following question: Is Nico, given her variance, good enough to actually make it into the deck? I don’t think so, but many of our creator friends disagreed.

  • “Easy #2, maybe #1 if everyone was a pro player with enough to learn its ins and outs. In the real world, might even be #5 because people don’t want the trouble.” – den
  • “Nico is flexible. Old Snowguard had people sleeping on her so hard, but her abilities don’t depend on locations being useful and she doesn’t have any ability as bad as the Bear’s.” – LaurenWhatever as #1
  • “While heavily RNG-based, it feels like this will be a lot of fun, and the randomization means that your opponent can’t play around it, either. Plus, you can bounce her back, and I think Bounce will see a resurgence in October.” – Devilish as #1

2. Werewolf by Night – 108 points

This card was all over the place, basically second or last in every list. It’s hard for me to imagine this card not being at least good (unless Junk decks take over the meta). Two triggers make him equivalent to Maximus, as does just moving him onto a Kraven. In a Silver Surfer deck, drawing him, even late, is pretty big and a strict upgrade, while regular Move decks have no problem stacking up power onto Kraven and using him to be completely unpredictable. I truly can’t imagine a card that has best-in-class stats being less than a quite playable card.

  • Angela and Bishop are good because of how easily they can scale throughout a game. Werewolf, I think, will be just as good if not better than them. On Reveal is very common in almost all meta decks.” – Nerfherder as #1
  • “After the clarification that he can only scale if he moves, he is going to be a headache to plan around, but potentially still incredibly powerful. Especially in an On Reveal Surfer deck.” – TeddyNinja as #4

1. Elsa Bloodstone – 144 points

Unlike last time, it seems we got this card right. Elsa Bloodstone is a meta force. She’s got a home in nearly every deck – she’s in Shuri Kitty decks, which she brought back. She did the same for classic Bounce decks. She has a home in both the resurgent Move Silk and the Patriot Brood decks. Loki? She’s a big power spike there. Hell, our friend Paper even hit Infinite with straight-up Elsa Kazoo. We were all focused backward for Mobius on how he’d affect Loki. We didn’t realize how powerful he’d make different varieties of flood enabled by this amazing card.

  • “Want to try this in Bounce. Seems it’s going to be a solid card.” – LilRobitussin
  • “With a power level that would make her tempting as a 4-Cost, my question isn’t if she will be competitive, but if she will be strong enough to run the meta similar to Loki.” – TeddyNinja
  • “Elsa is clearly going to break some stuff. Especially Bounce, a deck that is now being played again with acceptable stats (close to a Tier 2 deck) is going to be back to its past glory when Elsa is released. Bounce is easily going to be one of the Top 3 decks of the meta once again.” – Bohe
  • “Power scaling is the strongest thing in Marvel Snap due to the limited locations, and +3 is too much.” – SafetyBlade
