Snap Judgments Deck of the Day: Fallen One is Complicated

Good morning all! I’m back at Marvel Snap Zone with a deck of the day: a top deck for you to try out! My aim for this article is to get you in and out quickly and give you something new to play every day along with the tools to do well with it. Check out the video for a verbal explanation of this and three other new decks.

Fallen One is a complicated card. Getting extra energy is obviously incredibly powerful and hard to counter, but he’s a card with serious tension between enablers – ways to buff himself – and payoffs – big cards you can play at the end of the game with all that extra energy. As such, he’s been harder to use than it seems. Recent nerfs to cards like Galacta, Sam Wilson, and Surge hurt, too. Still this card has proven powerful, if a bit complicated and slow to be meta. It’s pretty clear that Fallen One will be a meta card sooner or later given it’s powential output.

Owiiii, the top French player in Snap (with all respect to our own Den and NiTheal), has my favorite Fallen one Deck so far.

One of the easier enablers for Fallen One has been Shuri. A ten power Fallen One is a fairly absurd 11 energy last turn. That’s enough for Shang Chi, Cannonball, and Mercury. That means it’s enough to completely ruin someone’s day. We can also steal a lane with power, as Captain Carter with Moonstone is +8 to cards behind it. When that combo comes together early, you get a 14 energy last turn from Fallen One, but after another combo, you can just play those cards together last turn to win. That’s even easier since Mercury let’s Moonstone move.

The rest of the deck is small buffs- Mister Fantastic First Steps, and Speed to be extra power under Moonstone. Invisible Woman is a late play here if you can’t avoid priority to make your power cards really sing. Speed, Killmonger, and Invisible are swing spots with plenty of optionality from Surge to Steve Rogers Captain America. This is easily one of my very favorite decks for Fallen One.

2. Turn 2 Forge or Mercury
3. Turn 3: Carter if Forge or Moonstone >Fantastic 1st Steps > Speed
4. Turn 4: Shuri or Moonstone
5. Turn 5: Fallen One > 3+2
6. Turn 6: Cannonball/Combo off (Shang-nannigans).
