Sleeper Decks of the Week – So Many Loki Decks, Some Ways to Beat Loki, and Infinity Conquest Winners

Loki has taken the new Marvel Snap Season meta by storm! Check out its various builds, best counters, and some Infinity Conquest winners in this week's Sleeper Decks of the Week.

Hello everyone and welcome to Sleeper Decks of the Week! I’m Glazer of Snap Judgments: The Official Marvel Snap Zone Podcast, and in this article, I’m going to take you through all of my favorite Sleeper Decks this week. In addition to the podcast (this week’s episode features a wide-ranging discussion going from SnapCon to Card Acquisition to Infinity Conquest!), I do my own daily videos where I scour the darkest corners of the net (ahem Twitter and the various Marvel Snap sites) to find the best decks in Marvel Snap before the meta notices.

Remember: Each deck title will take you to a video explanation of the deck, so don’t be shy – check them out! It’s also worth noting that in addition to great content, you can enter to win a FREE Loki For All Time Season Pass by subscribing and commenting on videos for the next two weeks!

Loki Takes the Meta by Storm

Well, Loki may not be the best thing since sliced bread, but he is probably the best Season Pass card since Zabu. The Win Rate and power of the new Season Pass card has warped the meta. Here are six Loki decks that are really, really powerful.

Deck Thoughts: Safety was Loki‘s first and truest believer – probably because he’s so mischievous. He basically immediately took this deck to Infinite:

Since people now know what Loki is, that silly win rate has fallen to a still historically high 65% with a Cube Rate of .97. For comparison’s sake, the highest consistent cube rate was around a .5 for Shuri and Thanos during that meta. Loki is strong.

This deck is fairly all-in on Loki. You basically Snap any time you have either Loki and Quinjet or Loki and The Collector. The Collector gets very big here thanks to not just Loki but Kitty Pryde, Agent 13, Mirage, Sentinel, Agent Coulson, and Moon Girl as well.

All of those that generate cards also make cheaper cards thanks to Quinjet. Angela is a nice cheap power spike, while America Chavez, as in many of these decks, helps you see your pieces more consistently. Armor is secretly amazing here – it protects your Kitty Pryde and/or The Collector while shutting down Destroy opponents.

Mirage can pretty easily be Cable. Kitty Pryde can be a card like Jeff the Baby Land Shark or Nightcrawler.

Deck Thoughts: In true Lamby fashion, here we have a good stuff deck. This one is all about getting cards like The Collector and Angela to exactly eight power, then finishing things off with a go-wide power spike with Loki late game, by closing out locations with Legion, or by using Shang-Chi.

The rest of the deck is fairly similar, except we have an appearance of Jeff the Baby Land Shark. It’s great with Angela, and it’s super helpful for troublesome locations, too. Legion also does that, but Jeff, when played earlier, gives you that option for when you end up chucking Legion with Loki.

If you don’t have Jeff the Baby Land Shark, Nightcrawler is a fine replacement. Legion can be Vision or Sera. Kitty Pryde could be Nightcrawler, too, but if you don’t have Kitty and Jeff, you should play Nightcrawler and Agent 13.

Deck Thoughts: DDDrewsky has our first take that doesn’t bother with The Collector and instead opts for a Darkhawk package. Darkhawk remains both disruptive and powerful, and, well, Devil Dinosaur and Darkhawk have been a top combination together since the latter’s release. Devil Dinosaur also goes great with Loki, so combing the packages makes a ton of sense.

Here we also have our first appearance of Nick Fury. He can add cards for Loki or, with Quinjet, give you nearly unprecedented end game flexibility and unpredictability. With Zabu in the deck, Shang-Chi makes sense as an extra add, as well, and you can use Cosmo to protect your bigger cards. Mystique is very versatile here – she can copy Darkhawk or Devil Dinosaur, of course, but even copying a Zabu or Quinjet can be backbreaking when the game calls for it.

If you don’t have Darkhawk, pick one of the other Loki lists.

Deck Thoughts: Over 1000 games with another 65% Win Rate is still crazy. The Cube rate is also 0.96 here, and this is probably the most standard of the builds. It keeps the Devil Dinosaur package of the previous deck, but cuts Darkhawk in favor of The Collector.

Without America Chavez, there’s seemingly less consistency, but Iron Lad works in a similar way. It gives you a chance at multiple power spikes – and copying basically any card but Mystique (and even sometimes Mystique) is stellar here.

White Queen, in addition to Nick Fury, gives you another chance of a big powerful card that can win you the game while also providing information, and Doctor Doom is back to being one of the best top-ends in the game. It’s also a great way to beat the many Wave decks players are running as an answer.

If you don’t have Iron Lad, you can try Jubilee, but space may be at a premium. You’ll need Zabu.

You know the drill – turn by turn in the link above.

Deck Thoughts: Fair warning: this one is “only” 55% and .20 on Marvel Snap Zone (though it is way higher on Untapped with 64% and .75). The big change here is simple, so this won’t take long – this runs Crystal. With Crystal and America Chavez in the deck, you’re very likely to see your three key pieces, Loki, Quinjet, The Collector, and, when you do, you can Snap. You won’t always win, but you will be quite a bit more likely to!

Loki and Kitty Pryde aren’t Series 3, but everything else is. Kitty Pryde can be Jeff the Baby Land Shark or Nightcrawler.

Deck Thoughts: I seem to be the only one playing this, but it has been absolutely eating up the meta. Basically, with this deck, if you ever see Loki in combination with Quinjet and The Collector, you have a ton of powerful cards. When you make that play early, all of your cards are extremely cheap, and any 3-Costs benefit Surfer. Plus, cheap stuff benefits Hit Monkey, and with Sera you can fill the whole board.

But you don’t have to Loki here at all. The deck has a solid game plan of basically playing out a regular Surfer game with an endgame of either Surfer or Hit Monkey and Mysterio, or, thanks to Sera, both. Shadow King is here to be a mirror killer – your opponent plays Loki, you can ruin their The Collector.

Nakia buffs a lot of powerful multi-use cards like Mysterio and Brood, but it can also be drawn and played after a Loki to make your cheaper cards stronger. Agent Coulson here is the connective tissue between Surfer and Loki, while Polaris and Spider-Man are just powerful and disruptive.

You’ll need Hit Monkey to play this version of the deck, but he’s in caches next week. Everything else (besides Loki, obviously) is Series 3.

We Did Six Loki, So Let’s Do the Four Best Counters

Deck Thoughts: The first two decks we’re featuring here are from the legendary den’s fantastic article that goes over the best Loki decks and counters. There’s no surprise that such a great player figured out how to optimize this exceedingly tricky match up.

Well, Loki hates Cerebro 3. If the Loki decks use Loki, they get a bunch of cards they can’t use. Loki alone messes up the three synergy, but the Loki player also has to deal with cards like Valkyrie and Shadow King, which can utterly ruin their power.

The rest of the deck is just effective three power cards along with Magik and Crystal to make sure you draw your Cerebro and Mystique for the appropriate power spike at the end of the game. Turning all your three power cards into seven power cards is pretty huge, and Iron Man can further raise your power. This is a top deck right now.

Deck Thoughts: This is our second deck from den, and it takes a different approach to beating Loki – it goes huge. This deck’s Win Rate is right up there with the best Loki decks, and its Cube Rate is even higher. All of these cards have huge downsides that are mitigated with Sauron and Zero, but if the opponent doesn’t get those in the right order with their Loki, it can be extremely hard to compete.

Your game plan is simple: get Sauron, Shuri, or both and you can Snap. After that, play huge cards and then copy one with Taskmaster. See, I told you it was simple. With less Shang-Chi in the meta than ever, this would be the meta tyrant if Loki weren’t so new and shiny.

Deck Thoughts: My video on this should be out Sunday (the above video has a previous version), but good gosh does this smoke Loki. Loki gets no benefit from your High Evolutionary cards – Misty Knight, Cyclops, and Hulk are just vanilla, and a late game Sunspot or Nebula is a pretty bad pull.

Storm is low power and does little on Turn 5 or Turn 6, and High Evolutionary is just a bad card to play. Wave on Turn 5 ruins their ability to play a bunch of cheap cards to end the game, too. This deck crushes Loki and a lot of the rest of the meta. Expect to see a LOT more of it going forward.

You cannot play this deck without High Evolutionary. Jeff the Baby Land Shark can be Nightcrawler, and Nebula can switched to a solid 2-Cost card (think Lizard or perhaps Shocker).

Deck Thoughts: Another one that smokes Loki – and it isn’t really even close. Sandman means Loki is an extremely sad card when it comes out on Turn 4, and Galactus, well, you know where Loki is putting its power, so Galactus just smashes it. It’s hard without either of those play lines, sure, but that’s two different play lines that are nearly auto wins.

There’s also a lot of power in the Black Panther + Arnim Zola package right now. If the opponent can’t stop you, you can get that off before they’re ready and have 16 Power in two lanes. You can even then Odin the Arnim Zola to make two 32 Power Black Panthers and keep Odin‘s eight in those locations. Unless the opponent has Cosmo or Armor, good luck. They’re going to need it.

You can play the deck without Galactus by adding another 6-Cost like Magneto, but the Loki match up gets way worse. Nebula can be Jeff the Baby Land Shark or Sunspot. I cannot wait to try this with Alioth.

Deck Builder: I’ve talked about variations of this for weeks in this space, and it’s my favorite Conquest deck by far. It pivots between game plans when you know your opponent’s deck extremely well. You can play Shuri + Red Skull + Taskmaster or Shuri + Nimrod + two destroy cards just fine. You can also make a huge Human Torch to either Taskmaster or Arnim Zola. Or, you can get at least three Multiple Man copies and still be able to play and destroy Nimrod on Turn 5 and Turn 6. Or just drop a Red Skull and America Chavez or Taskmaster. Honestly, the possibilities look endless.

The deck is way worse on Ladder, unfortunately, since the power is locked behind being able to know your opponent’s deck and pick the appropriate line. But, with that said, if you want to win in Conquest, look no further. (P.S. it beats Loki).

You need The Phoenix Force for this deck to work, and you can play it without Nimrod but it’s far less consistent.

Deck Thoughts: Our friend Fazzer had the brilliant idea of combining Silver Surfer and High Evolutionary. It might seems a bit off, but High Evolutionary has Cyclops and loves Wave, so you’re almost at a decent Surfer package with Brood right there.

The missing link was Jean Grey who, in many matches, just dominates – especially when paired with Evolved Cyclops and Wave. Add in Cosmo for Jean Grey‘s lane (another Surfer target by the way), and there’s almost no end to the hell you can cause an opponent.

Unfortunately, Loki kind of killed this deck. Cheap cards and Kitty Pryde don’t really care about Jean’s control, and, unless you get lucky with Wave, they can go both taller and wider. It was fun while it lasted, Evolved Surfer.
