Sleeper Decks of the Week – Mobius Takes the Stage, Alioth Eats It, and Old Friends Come To Visit

In this week's Sleeper Decks: Mobius M. Mobius makes friends with Loki and Alioth, we still really like Ravonna, and ways to counter the meta!

Hello everyone and welcome to Sleeper Decks of the Week! I’m Glazer of Snap Judgments: The Official Marvel Snap Zone Podcast, and in this article, I’m going to take you through all of my favorite Sleeper Decks this week. In addition to the podcast (this week’s episode discusses the effect of Mobius M. Mobius on the Top 10 decks in Snap with dddrewsky and TheCounterGuy!), I do my own daily videos where I scour the darkest corners of the net (ahem Twitter and the various Marvel Snap sites) to find the best decks in Marvel Snap before the meta notices.

Remember: Each deck title will take you to a video explanation of the deck, so don’t be shy – check them out!

Mobius M. Mobius Makes Friends with Loki!

After nerfing The Collector, Kitty Pryde and Snowguard were next on the chopping block. I’m not sure anything short of a nerf to the card can actually slow Loki down enough!

Deck Thoughts: The great Lamby took this deck to a 15-0 finish in Infinity Conquest before the most recent nerfs, but Mobius fits well with Loki by basically making an opposing Wave a non-issue.

Loki is the way to win here. The deck wants to get The Collector down and use either Mobius M. Mobius to protect against opposing nonsense or Quinjet to make your stuff cheaper, then just play the best of the opponent’s cards to win the game. There’s nothing terribly fancy here, but, in the hands of the game’s best players, this has proven time and again to be an absolute monster of a deck.

I wouldn’t play this right now without Mobius M. Mobius, and, of course, you’ll also need Loki. Snowguard can be Agent 13, Cable, or Mirage, though, and Legion works fine as Vision or Devil Dinosaur.

If you want a turn-by-turn on how to play the deck, check the video linked in the title or the detailed deck guide by Bohe below:

Deck Thoughts: For a shining moment before the Kitty Pryde nerf, this was the best deck in the game. I thought this would immediately die, but then Mottelz, a member of our Discord, immediately got an Infinity border with it.

The way to play the deck has changed – Kitty Pryde is only really worth prioritizing with Forge and either of Hulkbuster or Shuri, but the rest of the Shuri plan is so solid that the deck is still extremely strong. Vision is possibly the best answer for the omnipresent Alioth, especially when Shuri grants him 16 Power. Moving him to win a lane while Taskmaster copies the power in an Armored lane is one of the best plays in Snap right now.

This one needs Mobius M. Mobius and Kitty Pryde to work at all, but it may have new life with Elsa Bloodstone next week.

Deck Thoughts: Bounce was the scourge of the meta, but it was nerfed out of its top spot. Then, although it threatened to return, Wave kept it in check. Well, Mobius answers Wave, so Bounce has, at least to some extent, returned.

This Infinity-winning deck uses the power of Kitty Pryde to pump up Angela and Bishop, the cost-reducing ability of Beast, and the pump of Bast to lead to an endgame Mysterio and Hit Monkey that spike your power to nearly unmatched heights in the current meta.

You’ll need Hit Monkey and Kitty Pryde to play the deck, and Mobius is all that prevents Wave from absolutely destroying you. Jeff the Baby Land Shark can probably be Nightcrawler or Hawkeye, though.

Deck Thoughts: This deck is slightly altered from the video since it now runs Mobius and cuts Snowguard. Snowguard‘s Auras are way worse as 3-Costs going into Lockjaw, so they go to make room for Mobius who protects you from Wave ruining your fun.

The rest of the deck is largely getting Lockjaw down to cheat out big cards while Thor and Jane Foster Mighty Thor develop your early game. This deck is weak to Shang-Chi, but with less of that card than ever, it’s becoming a meta deck. Loki offers a nice backup plan and gives you plenty of cheap things to throw into that Lockjaw.

Without Loki, just cut Quinjet and add another big card. I think you can play Jeff the Baby Land Shark or Nightcrawler over Mobius, too.

Check the vid for the play-by-play.

Mobius M. Mobius is Also Buddies With Alioth

Alioth is easily the most effective card in the game right now. The only question left appears to be what can stop Alioth‘s reign of terror.

Deck Thoughts: This is absolutely silly. Move still puts out some of the best early stats up thanks to Spider-Man, Silk, Kraven, and the like, but now it can absolutely lock in that win with Alioth. At the end of the day, Mobius is just here as Wave protection for when you want to end the game by going wide, but either way this deck is incredibly strong; it’s winning both on the Ladder and in Conquest right now.

You need Silk and probably Mobius. Jeff the Baby Land Shark can be Cloak. You can try Leader for Alioth and Jubilee for Iron Lad, but both of those cuts really hurt the deck. This is one of the best decks in the game, but it’s also one of the most expensive.

You know the drill – turn by turn in the link above.

Deck Thoughts: We expected Mobius M. Mobius to take High Evolutionary to another level, and, well, this deck is the one Swen took to the #1 rank in all of Snap.

This is standard Evolutionary through and through. It lets the 1-drop cards gain power while Evolved Cyclops messes with the opponent. Eventually, it plays Wave and Mobius to close out the game. If the opponent has Mobius as well, it can forego Wave to just let Sunspot get huge, build a bigger Evolved Hulk, and let Evolved Cyclops tick.

Oh, hey, why is this in the section without Alioth? Good question! I got so used to this format having Alioth that I organized it here. Let’s leave it here as a testament not to how present Alioth is, but to how playing Snap against him feels right now.

You need High Evolutionary and Mobius. You can try to replace Nebula with Shocker or Storm.

Deck Thoughts: Antron got two Infinity borders in three tries (with only one match five lost) with this deck. A day later, creators from Lamby to Bradcifer were using Crossbones as a way to grab priority for Alioth plays. It’s a great idea, so huge props to Antron!

This deck really is all about priority, so this version also adds Mister Fantastic since it is not only a great card for priority, but also a stellar card with Doctor Doom for stealing lanes. Beyond that, this is just a collection of good cards using some move cards like Spider-Man and Silk, along with a bit of control with Shadow King.

End with Wave and Mobius into Leader, Alioth, or Doctor Doom, and enjoy the wins.

I REALLY Like Ravonna

Ravonna Renslayer was hit hard by Mobius, but she’s still one of my favorite cards in Marvel Snap.

Deck Thoughts: The brilliant player OwlGod has brought Darkhawk back in this all-in deck. This deck usually wins by playing Darkhawk and having Mystique copy him. And that’s the whole deck, really, so it uses Iron Lad for an extra chance at the combo. In addition, Rockslide and Korg get copied by Absorbing Man for just a little extra strength. It feels like this shouldn’t work, but it really does.

You need absolutely all the expensive stuff here, sorry.

Deck Thoughts: My old Kitchen Sink was sort of ruined by Alioth, but Spyro found a solution that lowers the ceiling and is still top-notch (and a Top 30 deck).

This version uses Ghost-Spider as a way to move a card later in the game. That can mean extra power for Human Torch, an extra Multiple Man, or pulling away a Nimrod so he can safely be eaten. In any of these scenarios, the card is absolutely game-winning and back-breaking. Forge is the other major change here. It mostly acts as a backup Shuri for Nimrod, but it is the least important card in the deck.

You need The Phoenix Force, Nimrod, and Ghost-Spider for this to work at all in the current meta.

Deck Thoughts: Our old friend HowlingMines is back with a wildly good deck. Mobius allowed a lot of go-wide decks to take over since Wave is both more powerful and neutered depending on the match. Either way, it’s not a reliable way to stop plays from the opponent. Sandman, however, is, so ramping into it with Electro is back on the menu as a way to win games of Marvel Snap.

Once the ramp is achieved and Sandman is out, Alioth, Doctor Doom, Odin, Leader, and Aero absolutely dominate the game. HowlingMines climbed thousands of ranks with this simple strategy, and you can, too.

Jeff the Baby Land Shark here is worse as Nightcrawler, but it’s fine. Nebula can work as Sunspot. You’ll need Alioth.

Deck Thoughts: Double Up decks with The Infinaut have always been fragile since they rely on card placement and a bit of luck to get their combos off. Well, this deck doesn’t change that fact, but it does offer a new and interesting wrinkle that it has SO many ways to combo off.

There’s the standard Ghost Rider and Lady Sif, of course, but if Shocker hits The Infinaut or She-Hulk, passing on Turn 5 enables a huge play on Turn 6. Heck, Cyclops on Turn 4 allows for She-Hulk on Turn 5 and Hulk on Turn 6. There are a ton of ways to put out absolutely scary power with this absolute shocker of a deck.

Don’t play this without High Evolutionary. Everything else is Series 3 or lower.
