Sleeper Decks of the Week – Loki Is Still Great, Hercules Isn’t Bad, and Quake Is Meta

Check out the best Marvel Snap decks in this column before they become popular in the meta! There are a lot of awesome decks waiting to be discovered that can take your opponent's Cubes by surprise!

Hello everyone and welcome to Sleeper Decks of the Week! I’m Glazer of Snap Judgments: The Official Marvel Snap Zone Podcast, and in this article, I’m going to take you through all of my favorite Sleeper Decks this week. In addition to the podcast (this week’s episode has a breakdown of all the new card and Spotlights of the Planet Hulk Season, the Leaks of the Patch Notes, and the Marvel Snap Roadmap ft. Jessnapz, Phil Woodard, and themaster_not), I do my own daily videos where I scour the darkest corners of the net (ahem Twitter and the various Marvel Snap sites) to find the best decks in Marvel Snap before the meta notices.

Remember: Each deck title will take you to a video explanation of the deck, so don’t be shy – check them out!

I Still Love Loki

Since Loki doesn’t work with The Collector, we got some amazing new decks!

Deck Thoughts:

The best player in Marvel Snap, Lamby, is likewise the very best Loki player in the world. He completely scrapped his previous build of the deck and came up with this.

We’re back to some core Loki cards that had fallen out of the deck as the meta developed like Agent Coulson, Shang-Chi, and Devil Dinosaur. Mirage has bounced in and out of the deck. These join mainstays Snowguard and Agent 13. The rest of the deck is all new though.

Zabu lets you get Loki out on 3, still among the strongest plays in Snap. Iron Lad is a backup Loki as needed. Ms. Marvel and Gladiator are just the best stat sticks around right now, so they’re in here, and Quake is a cube stealer that in Loki, the opponent can never really be sure if you have.

Gladiator is good here, but not a requirement, as anything from Rogue to Polaris can fill that spot. If you don’t have Snowguard, Maria Hill is totally fine, and Sentinel replaces Mirage and is, in some ways, even better. Iron Lad can be Jubilee here, but Loki and Zabu are irreplaceable.

Deck Thoughts:

Buddii is a player who shares decks from Japan to bring the player bases together, but he’s also just a phenomenal player and creator himself. This deck is strange – I went 10-0 on ladder on my phone then won a Gold Conquest match coming back from 10-2. I made a video on it, then the results cratered as more people played it. I then played it again on my computer to get stats, won another Gold Conquest match (this time finishing with 8 cubes), and went 6-0 on ladder for +26 cubes. So, I mean, the deck totally works for me.

This deck abuses Loki, sure, as Coulson, Snowguard, Quinjet, and Zabu are still present, but the other cards play totally differently. Morph into a meta of huge cards has been awesome, but Lady Sif and Ghost Rider work amazingly – not just with Helicarrier or Devil Dinosaur, but also with cards generated by Loki, Coulson, or Nick Fury. This is a deck that plays to its outs, but with so many options for a variety of its cards, the outs can be nearly anything. I’ve won cubes with everything from a surprise Valkyrie to a Leeched The Infinaut.

You’ll need Loki and Zabu again, and Maria Hill can, again, replace Snowguard. The rest is Series 3.

Deck Thoughts:

Johnson is an unbelievable player – top 4 in the recent Conquerors event and one of the best players reaching the top of numerous tournaments.

This deck is just wild. Thanos as a deck is getting fairly close to solved, as the Blob decks are a known quantity. Johnson, though, figured out a way to solve for the deck’s low rolls, and if you looked at the deck, you know the answer: Loki. Thanos decks often have a lot in hand, so why not have Loki, a card that both solves for that problem and crushes the mirror.

Never one to settle, Johnson has one more trick up his sleeve. Quake is absolutely amazing at stealing cubes right now, and she works especially well with Storm. Storm loves a good mood package, so we also get Silk, Jeff and Kraven… and now we’re at a monster of a deck!

Silk or Jeff can be replaced with a good stuff card like Medusa. You need Loki, Thanos, and Blob, but Alioth can be Doctor Doom.

Hercules

Hercules is over-costed by one, but he still has some good decks where his power helps you win, and I really enjoy move, so here’s some of what’s been working!

Deck Thoughts: The Phoenix Force is an extremely obvious place for Hercules, right? Twitter user BaconTrains used the old Nimrod shell, as a backup, but Hercules also acts as a way to wait an extra turn for Phoenix and still get the same number of moves.

The rest of the deck is mostly standard – eat Multiple Man or Human Torch with a Destroy card. Use The Phoenix Force to revive them, profit. The only real spice here is Zabu who can allow for a Ghost-Spider play with Phoenix or Hercules or a last turn that includes Shang-Chi.

Zabu isn’t needed though and may be better as Magik. You need Nimrod and The Phoenix Force for this version. Ghost-Spider can be Iron Fist. This version is built for Hercules.

Deck Thoughts:

This is an auto-deckbuilder deck, but people need to get past the idea that makes it AI-generated. The in-game deck builder is just pulling from the database of real players. Well, props to whoever got this into the database.

This is our standard move with nothing fancy. You can get Hulkbuster on Human Torch or Multiple Man to make him huge. Vulture is like always at least a [3/13] and Spider-Man 2099 is at least a [4/9] or so. That’s enough stats to make things work, especially with Hercules turning your moves into unpredictable explosions of power. Two full lanes will pop a Human Torch or Vulture into the far right stealing cubes unexpectedly.

You need Hercules for this to be a consideration. I don’t think I’d really play without Ghost-Spider, but you could try Cloak. If you don’t have 2099, go Kraven or Vision. Forge could also be worth a look, as could Beast.

Deck Thoughts:

Amano was a finalist at Conquerors and creates some of the most interesting decks in the game.

This simple, low-to-the-ground move deck uses Werewolf By Night as an extra big stat stick. Werewolf moves last each turn usually, though that can take some doing, so Hercules can usually use his move on something else before Werewolf triggers. The rest of the deck is just the move package again, as Torch, Dagger, and Vulture can all get big enough to be lane winners in this style of deck.

You need Werewolf and Hercules. Beast can replace Nico Minoru, and Cloak can be Ghost-Spider.

Quake Time!

Quake was changed to now be a phenomenal card. She steals cubes and absolutely must be played. If you haven’t tried her yet, here are some great shells.

Deck Thoughts:

KeenKoala is the game’s foremost Quake expert, as he hits Infinite with the card every month, even before the buff to Quake.

This is one of the meanest lockdown decks around. If it isn’t Storm locking a lane, it’s Goose keeping out big cards or Quake moving locations or Annihilus sending over bad cards or Legion or Shang… There are just so many ways for this to mess with you that Jeff and Ms. Marvel almost feel fair.

Jeff is the only really replaceable high-series card here and the best replacement is Silk. You can also use Nightcrawler, though. Legion is best for his slot, but Aero and Vision both still work.

Deck Thoughts:

Soon-to-be new streamer and top 1k player GunnyT has one of the simplest big Skaar decks around. This one is pretty simple – you win with big dumb card, but last turn you can also steal victories with Skaar and Quake.

The idea here is to make one lane so big that the opponent won’t bother to contest it. All the big dumb idiots – Gladiator, Warpath, Attuma, etc make that happen. Then either the Blob or Quake combo wins. I could explain more, but they’re big dumb idiots. It isn’t complicated.

You need Skaar and Blob. Caiera, Wave, Medusa, Polaris can replace Gladiator.

Deck Thoughts:

Xunzzz is a 14-year-old who lives atop the Snap ladder.

Xunzzz deckbuilding brilliance has thus far been figuring out which two archetypes to jam together for the current meta. Last season it was Sera Miracle combined with Black Knight. This season? It’s move control combined with junk.

The Annihilus junk package still has great stats that are mostly safe from tech and move prevent the opponent from playing what and where they want to stop the junk. The new Kingpin gives that package a ton of extra stats, while Quake gives a huge advantage to move decks especially, as you are far less likely to mess yourself up when you can still access the newly placed locations.

You need Annihilus. Jeff can be Silk or Nightcrawler. Ms. Marvel is too much stats for this particular deck to do without. Zabu is a must, too.

Miscellaneous Decks

Here are just some great decks to try that didn’t fit into any other category.

Deck Thoughts:

Our own LaurenWhatevs is brilliant and currently putting together an article on the new economy with 12 extra cards a year. This is her Infinite deck for the Skaar season.

This deck is built entirely around Valkyrie. It wants to steal a lane with Storm or Goose and from there throw priority to win the game with Valkyrie. That lane is protected from ongoing effects by Echo and a huge Kitty Pryde thanks to Elsa Bloodstone. The opponent can’t pass and go over the top with Mobius M. Mobius in the deck, and the rest of the cards are dedicated to stealing that Goose or Storm lane.

You need Echo and Mobius. Elsa can be Angela. Kitty is very important, though, and so is the baby shark.

Interrobang Galactus

Deck Thoughts:

Interrobang is the king of Marvel Snap Twitter and an awesome streamer/human being.

He also has my current favorite Galactus build in that it’s a win with Professor X, Goblins, and Alioth list that also gets the opponent to kneel sometimes. Ravonna Renslayer is the sauce here, as she allows for the Professor X and Goblin plays to work out. Electro is the other obvious key, as Galactus into Alioth or a surprise Orka can both be absolutely game-winning.

You need Galactus, Alioth, and Ravonna. Jeff can be Wolverine. Nebula is REALLY good, but can be Nightcrawler.
