Sleeper Decks of the Week – Top of the Meta Decks, the Best of Supergiant, More!

Check out the best Marvel Snap decks in this column before they become popular in the meta! There are a lot of awesome decks waiting to be discovered that can take your opponent's Cubes by surprise!

Hello everyone and welcome to Sleeper Decks of the Week! I’m Glazer of Snap Judgments: The Official Marvel Snap Zone Podcast, and in this article, I’m going to take you through all of my favorite Sleeper Decks this week. In addition to the podcast (this week’s episode has us getting ready for the new season and talking datamines with GunnyT and Bohe!), I do my own daily videos where I scour the darkest corners of the net (ahem Twitter and the various Marvel Snap sites) to find the best decks in Marvel Snap before the meta notices.

Remember: Each deck title will take you to a video explanation of the deck, so don’t be shy – check them out!

Before we start, if you want to hit Infinite, this video is for you:

Deck Thoughts:
Italian streamer D3sertFox made this deck in December, and this season both Dott.Geo and Pogi Bonsi played it to the top of Infinite Ladder finishing #1 and #2!

This deck wins with a three-pronged attack that Zabu ties together. Zabu allows for a cheaper Sentry, which works with cards like The Hood and Demon for the Annihilus package. All three are On Reveal cards, so they can prop up Werewolf By Night, who not only costs 4, but is supported by the Bounce package of Beast and Falcon. The final package here is good old control, as Shang-Chi and Enchantress give your opponent too much to play around.

The only changeable high series cards here are Nico Minoru and Spider-Ham, who could be Iceman or Maria Hill.

Deck Thoughts:
Shuri Enjoyer mainly used this deck and piloted it to a Top 4 finish on Infinite ladder. This just isn’t in the meta and it absolutely should be.

The Annihilus package is here – surprise, surprise- but here it’s used with a big old Black Knight package. Black Knight or Ghost Rider and discarders Blade and Lady Sif along with targets The Infinaut and Magneto are insane tempo, especially combined with the negative power of Annihilus. Shang-Chi and Mobius are the good cards that tie it all together.

You need Zabu, Annihilus, and Black Knight, but Mobius M. Mobius can be any good tech card – try Ghost or Quake!

Deck Thoughts:
While this wasn’t Shuri Enjoyer’s main deck, it was one used to help his climb to a fourth-place season finish.

Like most of the best decks, this one runs the Annihilus package with Zabu, and then uses that to take advantage of the power of Werewolf By Night. This is combined again with the same one-cost cards, but instead of bounce, we have the Thors package of Thor, Beta Ray Bill, and Jane Foster Mighty Thor. These three cards output a ton of power and allow for a cheap way to move around the Werewolf. Yellowjacket is a 0-cost On Reveal that protects Sentry from Shang-Chi.

The last card here is the most replaceable – Mobius M. Mobius is in the deck because the week this was used was the week Sera was everywhere. Cards like Ghost, Beast, Quake, Shang-Chi, and Shadow King could replace Mobius easily. Spider-Ham would be Iceman here, but Nico has the cleaner replacement of Forge.

Deck Thoughts:
Pre-Black Swan‘s release, Docty crafted this powerful shell for the card that Shuri Enjoyer took to first place in the new season.

This one uses two packages that are more closely correlated. We have the Werewolf group of cards – 1 costers to move the wolf around, and Hit Monkey, a card that gets huge when those 1s are made free by Black Swan. Of course, it wouldn’t be a top Snap deck right now with only one package, so here we have the Zabu control group of Shang-Chi and Enchantress.

Werewolf, Monkey, and Zabu are non-negotiable. You need Swan on 5 for Hit-Monkey to be good. Nico Minoru can be any good 1-cost card with an On Reveal – Elektra and Maria Hill, for example.

Supergiant is Legit

Supergiant was released this week, and it didn’t take long at all for us to find shells for the card that can compete with the best.

Deck Thoughts:
Bradcifer came up with this spicy idea, running a ton of power for priority and using that to win the game with Supergiant.

Martyr and Attuma are the real spice here. Martyr early is an amazing way to win priority, supported further by Nebula, Medusa, Mister Fantastic, and Gladiator – this deck almost always goes first.

When it does so, the deck badly wants to get out Supergiant on turn 4. At that point, it’s all about power – Ms. Marvel or Attuma plus, and you can tell where to play those with Daredevil. At that point, Alioth wins!

You need a ton of expensive cards for this deck – it’s built with Supergiant, Martyr, Gladiator, and Alioth in mind. Ms. Marvel can be Omega Red.

Deck Thoughts:
Top tournament player Desmond has a similar concept to the above deck, but goes more in on location control for another way to win games of Snap.

This deck is fine going for Supergiant when it has priority, but that play isn’t the deck’s priority. Instead, Storm with Quake is an easy way to steal a lane, especially with Vision, Nebula, and Jeff in the deck. Once this is accomplished, as always for this kind of deck, we’re all about Alioth or Shang-Chi.

Alioth is needed, but Supergiant or Ms. Marvel can be Omega Red. Jeff and Zabu are absolutely needed, but Iron Lad is fine as Absorbing Man. Nebula can be Nightcrawler, but it’s way worse.

Deck Thoughts:
Tuccrr has something really cool brewing here.

This type of deck often gets absolutely smoked because its power is static. Morbius and Collector tell the opponent exactly where the big power needs to be countered. Well, MODOK on Supergiant takes care of that problem entirely. Of course, the deck can run a standard discard Apocalypse package, but the ability to go super wide by playing Wong on the surprise MODOK is how it really steals cubes.

Zabu, MODOK, and Supergiant are all needed. Don’t add Miek, it won’t gain power or move from an end of game trigger.

Deck Thoughts:
The genius deck builder Safetyblade’s newest version of his Blobby Lashley deck is absolutely excellent.

The deck has so many ways to win, from a 20-power Thanos because of Black Swan to Lockjaw shenanigans with or without the Swan to huge Devil Dinosaur and Blob being protected by Caiera and cheap Skaar going tall over opponents.

This deck probably doesn’t need Supergiant – she’s Sera, Annihilus, Leech tech – but those can all be tough matches that Supergiant can solve. Replace with Leech if you don’t have her. Black Swan can be Wave, and Jeff can be Nightcrawler. You really want Caiera, but that’s Wave or Iron Lad or Polaris. Skaar can be She-Hulk, but you need Thanos and Blob.

Miscellaneous Decks

These decks rock, they just don’t hit into the previous categories.

Deck Thoughts:
Den came up with this absolute shocker of a deck that cleans up cubes!

Essentially, this deck can use Nico Minoru to take out Electro or just eat X-23 to ramp without downside. When it does, it wants to eat Nimrod as much as possible, filling the board with 6-power cards and having an occasional bigger Venom or Destroyer to really push lanes over the top. When it works, it WORKS.

You need X-23, Nimrod, Grand Master, and Nico here. Knull is your only chance against Destroy, but if you don’t care, add Deathlok. Iron Lad would need to be Jubilee or Magik.

Deck Thoughts:
Buddii builds some of the coolest decks in Snap, and here, we have the return of The Collector to Loki.

The Collector isn’t here for the Loki plan, though. When you Loki, you’re meant to be playing Zabu and hand-fillers. The Collector is here because Lady Sif on Helicarrier makes him huge, and you also have Agent Coulson, Snowguard, and Nick Fury to do the same. Quinjet makes all of these easier to play, and Zabu helps with plenty, including the A game plan – just drop Loki.

This is a very fun, very strong deck, but it needs Loki and Zabu. Snowguard is all but required. Maria Hill would be the replacement for Snowguard here.

Deck Thoughts:
Our last deck of the week comes from a brilliant deck builder – Ika – who has decided to not deal with all the card spam and just play Sandman.

This has the always awesome combo of Nico Minoru into Electro and it really wants to use that combo for freedom, although in the Sandman line, it doesn’t really matter. From there, we drop big cards. Leader or Doctor Doom with an Odin on top is backbreaking, and there are plenty of other ways to compete on temp while you get there.

Iron Lad can be Jubilee, and Jeff or Nico can just be Alioth as you go more all-in. Nebula would be Iceman or Sunspot. Psylocke is also a consideration for one of these spots, so give that a look!
