Second Dinner decided not to wait for the entire crew to be assembled to give the Zombie Horde synergy some help in yesterday’s OTA. The weekend missions will be the perfect opportunity to test how improved Zombie Scarlet Witch is.
Looking at the early data we have available since the OTA, the difference is quite minor. There are more decks with the season pass, often alongside the also buffed Zombie Giant-Man. However, although the win and cube rate have slightly improved, the synergy still does not look like a contender.
I would attribute those struggles to the lack of flexibility, putting the Zombie Horde in the same category as Discard Dracula or Ongoing Tribunal. Those decks can compete points wise, but give way too much information to their opponent early on in the match to hope to keep them in high stakes matches, while counter cards are often disastrous for our cube average.
We will see how things develop from here, and whether more flexible builds can emerge now that the proactive side of the synergy is improved. At worse, Zombie Sentry still has to join the party.

As expected, Zombie Mister Fantastic has proved to be a decent card, able to exist as a fine 2-cost in a multitude of archetypes. Most of the time, it will join Zombie Scarlet Witch to form a package around the Zombie Horde. Yet, the new 2-cost also exists as a standalone inclusion in Kazoo, simply because it synergizes well with the likes of Ant-Man, Dazzler or Mockingbird.
Overall, Zombie Mister Fantastic deserves to be called the best card from the Zombie bunch so far, even if the bar was quite low to begin with. We don’t have much information about the metagame after the OTA, but so far, Zombie decks still have to post a convincing performance.

Zombie Scarlet Witch Performance

I really wish we had more data following the OTA, but the weekend missions unfortunately start less than 24h after the update.
For sure, the update had a positive impact on the season pass card, as a few decks have started to use it. Plus, The Hunger is another addition to the Zombie Horde synergy, on top of a skill we can play behind Zombie Scarlet Witch.
The question isn’t whether Zombie Scarlet Witch has improved. Rather, we need to figured if it was enough to make it a contender in the Marvel Snap metagame. So far, I am leaning towards no, but more because of the Zombie Horde not being flexible enough rather than its raw power. Plus, we still have Zombie Sentry to come,

None of their decks have incredible numbers yet, but the Zombie Horde synergy is slowly progressing towards a refined build. Until we find the ideal one, plenty of ideas with decent win rates are available to complete both cards’ missions at the same time. All four share the same rigidity issue, as mixing the Zombie Horde card with another one to form a deck tends to quickly get us to 12 cards, leaving no space for counter or flexible cards in the build.
The first two stem from already existing archetypes able to welcome the Zombie Horde cards. It is still unclear if that is the best way to play the Miracle archetype, while there is little doubt Iron Hand is better off without it. In the context of the weekend missions though, it might be the best performer.
The other way to build with the Zombie Horde cards is to go all in on the potential to grow our power. At the moment, these decks are still quite fragile in the face of disruption, but with the OTA, are able to develop good enough numbers to compete from a raw power standpoint.
For those looking to play Zombie Mister Fantastic only, the 2-cost has been posting solid numbers in Kazoo.
