Marvel Snap Balance OTA Analysis and Decks to Play: Infinity Ultron’s Fresh Start

Infinity Ultron is obviously the star of the June 5, 2025 buff-only OTA Balance Update. Not only I want to test the now 2-cost Infinity Stones, I’m also quite sure Infinity Ultron is about to become a solid 5-cost card in certain decks.

However, the other three affected cards aren’t to dismiss either. Indeed, Giganto at 16 Power will spark interest from Dracula or Redwing. Omega Red getting one more point won’t be much, but the Ongoing synergy has been competitive for a while, so there definitely is a place to test the card. Lastly, Supergiant is the most intriguing card of the bunch now that she actually contribute to our points total for real !

Let’s take a look at each change in more detail.

Giganto joins Redwing and Dracula

Giganto is nothing but Power, so this buff improves the one thing the 6-cost card is considered for. Fortunately, there are a few cards interested in pure Power, such as Dracula and Redwing, which gained some sort of momentum since Xorn released.

There are two other synergies we could consider for Giganto. The first is Black Knight, which is the other featured deck, and Hela. For that second option, it is difficult to find a spot for Giganto since Hela‘s rework to summon different cost cards. Indeed, even at 16 Power, The Infinaut or Gorr the God Butcher should represent better options than Giganto in the 6-cost slot.

Omega Red probably still isn’t enough

The Ongoing synergy has been a good archetype for quite a while now, which gives Omega Red an obvious landing spot, but also a very competitive environment to earn a spot in a deck. From a deck building standpoint, it isn’t so difficult to fit Omega Red in a few decks. Here, I slid the card in Ongoing Tribunal, Cerebro 6 or a Series 3 friendly Patriot Kazoo deck.

The thing is, except for Cerebro 6, the other decks feel like they welcome Omega Red for the sake of discussing the card in this article. Indeed, for someone with Moonstone, Super-Skrull or such strong Ongoing cards, Omega Red probably still does not make the cut in the starting lineup.

Omega Red is a better backup plan than it was as a [4/5], but still not enough to exist in the super competitive 4-cost card pool.

The Supergiant Enigma

Supergiant presents a unique ability in Marvel Snap, which always makes the card appealing simply because it is the only way to achieve certain play patterns. Unfortunately, even the most unique abilities need to help us win locations, and that is done through generating points. As a [4/7], Supergiant not only represents more points, the card also helps with seizing priority if we need to.

Typically, Supergiant is played in disruptive decks, flanked by Alioth and Cosmo to block the cards Supergiant kept unrevealed until the game’s end. Yet, these two can also serve to block other cards, as long as they reveal first. Daredevil is also a good pair, as it tells us what the opponent played on turn 5, typically when Supergiant‘s ability is active. These are good cards, but they typically don’t represent enough points to win a game. Then, more Power is great to help in that regard, while it will also give us a better chance to reveal first on our Cosmo or Alioth turns late in the match.

There is another use to Supergiant, which is to allow a 5-cost to be played on curve, but not be exposed to an opposing counter card. Devil Dinosaur for example, routinely reaches 10 to 12 Power in the right deck, a solid number for a 5-cost. Yet, because of Shang-Chi and Enchantress roaming the metagame, it is often too risky to play Devil Dinosaur, and the card ends up cut from Big Hand decks. Supergiant played on turn four allows to safely develop Devil Dinosaur, or any other card you wouldn’t want to expose on turn five.

Infinity Ultron has arrived, again

When Infinity Infinity Ultron first released, most players anticipated how difficult it would to use the Infinity Stones as 3-cost, and the card was too much work for too little rewards. Buffed to a [5/8], Infinity Ultron carried better rewards, but still was too difficult to incorporate into any deck unable to play it on turn four.

Back to a [5/6] but with 2-cost stones, the card finally gained that flexibility it lacked. I don’t think it makes Infinity Ultron a metagame staple by any mean, but this iteration should be stronger in decks able to play it on turn four, and open the door to certain decks considering it on turn five.

Already, two archetypes were using the card: Arishem and Hela. Then, I expect at least these two to benefit from the buff.

As for other archetypes potentially interested in running Infinity Ultron, there are quite a few, actually. Indeed, the 5-cost cards are amongst the least used ones at the moment, especially when it comes to strong standalone inclusions. Legion probably is the one that comes to mind, with Vision being a fine addition as a placeholder if we needed one. Otherwise, the likes of Iron-Man, Cannonball, Ajax or M.O.D.O.K. are synergistic inclusions.

If Infinity Ultron were to become so good we could include it in a variety of strategies, we could see it in a lot of decks looking to fill that 5-cost slot. Otherwise, the Big and Iron Hand archetypes should be interested in this new Infinity Ultron for synergistic purposes:

Closing Words

There are only four cards in this OTA, but I wouldn’t be surprised if three of them – sorry Omega Red – had a shot at earning a spot in a deck in the near future. I’m quite sure Infinity Ultron will become a staple one way or another, at least in a couple of decks. Giganto and Supergiant should remain niche, but the additional power they received should get to the good side of niche cards: the one you see play when your specific contribution is required.
