The fist week of the season features bots and plenty of players testing new ideas. As such, the numbers in that period are always inflated.
It would be simple to dismiss Star-Lord, Master of the Sun as a card making the most of that context, farming clueless bots and benefiting from opponents staying in a game for curiosity’s sake.
To be fair, I expect the numbers to come down in the second week, but even a drop in performance would keep the new season pass in the competitive conversation.
Energy is strong in Marvel Snap, no matter how you put it. Then, Star-Lord, Master of the Sun allowing to reach 10 or 11 on the last turn, even if you had to waste some early on to get it, opens unpredictable patterns and opportunities to win matches.
I’m very curious about the evolution of the card, but I must admit I was wrong about it. At least according to the first week of play.
| Mission | # | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Play 500 Power’s worth of cards | 15 | 150 Credits |
| Win with Moondragon starting in your Deck | 4 | 200 Collector’s Tokens |
| Win with Star-Lord, Master of the Sun starting in your Deck | 8 | 150 Gold |
Moondragon Performance

As expected, Moondragon is limited to a few archetypes only. However, although these lack the unexpected factor to bring in a lot of cubes, they feature a decent enough win rate.
As a result, the new 2-cost is looking decent, but clearly not mandatory to enjoy Marvel Snap. Grab it if you enjoy the likes of Ramp or Doctor Doom 2099.

Star-Lord, Master of the Sun

To say I was wrong about the new season pass card would be an understatement. Indeed, as I expected the condition to make Star-Lord, Master of the Sun work too limiting, I am reminded to never bet against extra energy in Marvel Snap.
This is the best card in the game at the moment based on data. Sure, bots might help as they are completely clueless and will snap you while you have 11 energy coming up. Also, there was a location helping for two days.
Still, the numbers at all ranks, or in the more competitive ones have to be respected one way or another. Even the deck I made for the release of the card is posting much better numbers than I expected…

Bonus Challenge Decks
Hela and Man-Spider are more rigid in how they play, but nearly unstoppable when the draws align and your opponent isn’t packing the appropriate answers. The other two decks, High Evo and Ramp, are more flexible, and feature better numbers in the higher ranks.
No matter which one you pick, finding Star-Lord, Master of the Sun will be instrumental to your success.
The concepts are very similar here, as Moondragon only fits one play-style, but both found success early on in the season.
The War Machine Ramp deck has better numbers, but not enough to pick it over the Doctor Doom 2099 deck if you are more comfortable with that On Reveal heavy play-style.
