Marvel Snap Conquest Overview

Apart from a touch of Destroy peeking out and a light twist to the Good Cards Control archetype, the meta in Conquest is pretty similar to Ranked, which is essentially the same as before the OTA. But I want to focus on the few novelties there are.

First of all, Thanos seems to be the deck that the community is trying to target, which has left Scream Move alone for now. Scream Move already wasn’t doing too bad against it, though, as it’s able to block a location by stacking all the Infinity Stones together. Now the Mad Titan also has to worry about Clog looking to accomplish a similar thing.

With Clog and a deck full of 1-Cost cards around, the Destroy synergy is making a bit of a comeback in Conquest. Deadpool and company have posted their best performance in a while at a 58% Win Rate. Plus, the Scream Move list featuring Uncle Ben, Killmonger, and Lady Deathstrike posted the best results within the archetype. This is indirectly bad news for Discard too since Lady Deathstrike can remove both Dracula and Bullseye.

These are the headlines when it comes to decks interacting with each other, which is much more important in Conquest than in the Ranked mode.

The other interesting change happened in the Good Cards Control deck: it’s now sporting a more proactive list. By doing so the deck can develop more points early in a match, and it doesn’t depend as much on an explosive last turn. This ultimately means that Good Cards Control isn’t forced to perfectly guess the opponent’s last turn or Retreat in the face of a Snap anymore.

While this isn’t a huge change, it keeps with the meta trend of starting games strong and not falling too far behind. Otherwise opponents will have too much agency to play around counter cards, and their Snaps will represent too much of a gamble to stay against.

This is a perfectly reasonable decision in a meta that has been dominated by strong, proactive decks for a while now. Giving up priority might be best for setting up cards like Enchantress and Shang-Chi, but once you get countered by Cosmo or Juggernaut a few times and lose four cubes, you start reconsidering your desire to play from behind.

Happy Tier List, everyone!

Thanos is quite popular, which naturally feeds Killmonger. Meanwhile, Lady Deathstrike can find plenty of good targets against Ongoing decks and Discard decks. And if that wasn’t enough, Clog has been gaining momentum as a Thanos counter (which is one of Destroy’s best match ups). Although the synergy here is neither surprising nor powerful enough to really dominate, the meta seems to be pretty good for Destroy.

Deadpool Enjoyers, look for disruptive cards to mix things up a bit and you should be able to post a good performance.

The main issue with Clog is that it is just as easy to Snap when you get to lock an opposing location as it is for opponents to Snap when you don’t. With that in mind, Clog needs to pack some scary cards in order to bluff some Snaps, or at least have abilities that are able to turn a lane around when opponents think they have it secured.

This is exactly why Rogue, Gorr, and even Daredevil in the best Conquest builds: to keep the Snaps under control.

Even then, Clog definitely lacks some power to compete, and it tends to struggle when the disruption does not land. With Destroy as the other trending deck, it could be a short run for this archetype.

Even Scream Move managed to adapt to the meta with the Destroy list, which gave it an edge against both Ongoing and Thanos decks. This list develops fewer points than the full on Move list, but is better at annoying opponents and coming back from behind. In this meta with very little surprises around, this is a great way, albeit risky, to win more cubes from an opponent who believed they were ahead. Only Mister Negative feels like a big threat, but Enchantress can become Mobius M. Mobius if needed.

Until Sam Wilson Captain America inevitably gets nerfed (and hopefully doesn’t take other cards down with it), Scream Move should be a top tier contender.

Potential Additions

Hydra Bob, Stegron, and Aero can replace the Destroy trio, while Enchantress could be Rocket and Groot, Juggernaut, or another strong standalone card that synergizes with the Move concept.

Conquest rewards flexible decks the most, and Thanos happens to be the most flexible deck in the Ongoing category. Indeed, while other Ongoing decks are fairly simple to figure out after you’ve seen them once, Thanos can leverage Wiccan and Mockingbird to mess with how opponents might anticipate a turn based on the available energy.

The deck is currently being soft targeted by the likes of Clog and some archetypes running a Destroy package. Still, Thanos managed to stay among the best performers in the game, which shows just how resilient the archetype is right now.

Potential Additions

Dazzler, Speed, and Super-Skrull are the flexible Ongoing cards, but you need to keep a high count of them for Spectrum and Goliath to be worth it.

Gorgon can help in the mirror match, and U.S. Agent synergizes well with the Infinity Stones and the other cheap, high power cards in the deck. Armor can be a tech against Destroy builds, and Mobius M. Mobius flat out defeats Mister Negative. Captain America can replace Speed for points. Also, Luke Cage is good against Scream and Toxic.

After struggling to post convincing results this season with the traditional list, a new build is starting to emerge for Good Cards Control.

The idea remains the same; it’s still built around the 4-Cost quartet of Shang-Chi, Enchantress, Galacta, and Gwenpool. Except now instead of trying to build explosive turns with Sera (at the cost of not doing enough to come back from a self-inflicted deficit), this deck actually builds points throughout the entire match.

This is just a better way to approach the game at the moment, and the results seem to back that up.

Potential Additions

Jeff the Baby Land Shark could be Sam Wilson Captain America and everyone knows it.

Much better in Conquest than in Ranked mode, Bullseye‘s rank shouldn’t improve much from week to week unless something gets nerfed. In the last OTA, it was part of the decks that lost a power, so it naturally lost a bit of ground compared to the other top performers.

Potential Additions

Grand Master and Moon Knight are the most popular cards in the deck in case were looking for another support or discard ability.

Good Cards Control found a new list and reclaimed the throne among the Good Cards synergy.
Match up wise, Discard just got nerfed and seems to be losing momentum, which isn’t good for Small Good Cards since it used to dominate there. Plus, there seems to be an increase of Destroy cards lately, with Killmonger and Lady Deathstrike in Scream Move and the classic Deadpool Destroy deck in the Trending section.

Small Good Cards is still a great deck, but the environment isn’t favorable right now.

Potential Additions

Cosmo and Red Guardian can be any card you deem necessary depending on the match ups you expect to encounter. Luke Cage, Mobius M. Mobius, Juggernaut… Try any card with three power or less with a strong ability and it will probably be a good fit.

If you do not own Thanos, this is a good back-up plan for an Ongoing Enjoyer. If you do own Thanos, there isn’t much of a reason to play this deck. It can develop more points when the draws align, but it lacks the Mad Titan’s flexibility. It’s important to surprise opponents in Conquest since you’re rewarded for flexibility above all at the moment.

Plus, with the exception of Cosmo, Ongoing is pretty weak to a lot of the current disruptive cards, whether that’s Enchantress, Lady Deathstrike, or simply having your cards moved.

Potential Additions

Sera and Spectrum make the deck more energy demanding but a little more flexible in the later turns. Iron Lad can be a good high roll to include if you are looking for more Snap opportunities.

Tier 3

Both Sauron 10 Power and Discard Dracula share the same limitation: they play with their cards face up most of the time. Indeed, both decks are based solely on power and have a specific card (Sauron and Dracula, respectively) that tells opponents whether they are drawing well or not. Sauron used to have Enchantress to give you an edge against the Ongoing decks, but most of them run Cosmo now.

In Ranked, you can control the stakes based on your draws since your opponents won’t necessarily know your deck and when you are drawing poorly. In Conquest, however, you are bound to get Snapped when you show a slow start with a rather inflexible deck.

That’s it for this week! As usual, you can find me on the Marvel Snap Zone community Discord to discuss the report, or shoot me a direct message (@den_ccg) for coaching or specific requests.

Good Game Everyone.

Disclaimer and Tier Explanations

In order to be featured here, a deck needs to hold a Win Rate above the 50% threshold over more than a hundred Conquest games. Games in the Proving Grounds are never taken into account, but games in the Silver League are weighted depending on how much data is available for the Gold League. The Infinity League is open during the last week of each season, so that will be the focus of the report during that time.

In order to create this chart, den is using data from our Marvel Snap Tracker, as well as other available data online and his own expertise and opinion of respected players. If a deck showed great performances with a very limited presence in the meta, you can find it in the Silent Performers section. That section highlights decks with an excellent Win Rate, but too little of a sample size to be representative of their real strength.

Decks not good enough to be considered contenders but with a good representation will be ranked in Tier 3 in our chart. See those builds as decks that are good to know about, as you should face them when playing Marvel Snap. However, unless the meta changes or a new variation of the build emerges, these decks are a notch below the dominant ones in Tier 1 and Tier 2.

Silent Performer: Decks with a very little presence in the meta that still showcase a Cube Average and Win Rate worthy of a Tier 2 deck (or better). Oftentimes, these can be archetypes with some nice game play that have been left unchecked in the current environment, or decks on the rise that found a few good match ups to abuse.

Tier 1: Tier 1 represents decks with all the upsides we would be looking for to run the gauntlet. They have good match ups in the current meta, offer different play patterns during a match, and often have the ability for explosive or surprising turns. These should be decks worth investing into in order to climb for the coming week.
Win Rate > 58%

Tier 2: Tier 2 are very good decks but with a weakness holding them back – either not being as reliable in its draws as Tier 1 decks, countered by another popular deck, or still being a work in progress as you read this. A good pilot could probably take these and have the same results as with a Tier 1 deck, but their play patterns are more difficult to enact compared to the tier above.
Win Rate > 55%

Tier 3: This tier is made of decks that have a pervasive issue compared to Tier 1 or Tier 2 decks. Usually, Tier 3 will be a mix of decks on the rise that don’t have much data, old archetypes on the decline, decks that require substantial experience and/or knowledge to pilot properly, powerful decks that aren’t well positioned, or niche decks.
Win Rate > 52%

Budget: Decks that consist only of cards in Pool 1 and 2 that are still capable of competing with an experienced pilot in a similar Collection Level, Rank, and MMR range. See our matchmaking guide for more details.
