KanyeBest: My Two Best Decks Are Both Sera Miracle?!

KanyeBest has their two best decks ready for you to dominate the game on release - with explanations, replacements, rationale and more! ...but somehow, they're BOTH Sera Miracle?

Timeless, so age don’t count in the booth, when your flow stays submerged in the fountain of youth.Rakim

Sera Miracle has been a dominant archetype in Marvel Snap since it first emerged from the bowels of the (at the time) Snap Decks discord, and has seen its fair share of nerfs targeted at it.

With good reason!

The deck has gone through various permutations, with the two most recent being based on Magik and Mister Negative.

With those cards both nerfed, it now seems like the right time to go back to a straightforward Sera Miracle deck that focuses on playing as many cards as possible on Turn 6, while being functional in the event you don’t draw Sera.

The major improvement I feel this deck has made over previous iterations of Sera is that it focuses more heavily on the 2-Cost slot. Sera is at her best when reducing the energy cost of cards from two to one, a full 50% discount. By comparison, going from three to two is a 33% discount.

RidiculousHat was the one who pointed this out, and VinKelsier‘s ears perked up immediately, building a list that was within two cards of what you see above. One issue that Hat and I noticed was that there were a lot of decks doing very strong combo-style things that we were unable to compete with in terms of sheer points. Thus, the addition of the Goblin/Debrii package to give us a bit more control over how games played out.

The Destruction Package:

The destruction package fills two roles in this deck. First and foremost, it allows you to reliably trigger Bucky Barnes. The chance of you having Bucky in hand without either of Carnage or Deathlok is a bit under 5%. This means you can reliably count on Bucky as a 2/6 and Carnage as a 2/4 or more. Deathlok is an unfortunate concession to the math, which dictates that we do need a second destroy effect in order to run Bucky profitably. Nova is actually a bit of a holdover from when Killmonger could fit in lists like this, but is still a fine option to run.

The Disruption Package

Green Goblin and Debrii clunk up the 3-Cost spot in this deck, in a way that I truly wish they did not. They’re a concession to a metagame that is rife with ways to create lanes that we simply cannot compete with. Iron Man is the most common way to do this, but even things like Wonged Odined Wolfsbanes can reach numbers that are hard to compete with. Goblin and Debrii bring opponents down to our level, and we mitigate the on-board Debrii drawbacks by playing the destruction package, while mitigating their clunky cost by including extra 2-Cost cards and playing Sera.

You Know The Rest:

These six cards are in nearly every Sera deck I’ve built this patch. One of them, of course, is the deck’s namesake. Four of them are extremely above-rate threats, and the last one is Scarlet Witch, who isn’t always amazing, but can answer things like Attilan and Dream Dimension that you otherwise would flat-out lose to.

Possible Replacements:

These are all cards that I tried in this shell before settling on the disruption package as the best one. Killmonger is extremely powerful right now, and I miss him a lot in this deck whenever I play against someone on Zoo, or someone relying on Sunspot.

Dracula/America Chavez is something I’ve always wanted to get working in a Sera deck, because having America Chavez in the deck makes you about 9% more likely to draw Sera by turn 5. The cost, however, is that you’re effectively down a card, and if you didn’t draw Dracula, that card is borderline unplayable. This was close to working, but I wasn’t able to figure it out for now.

The remaining cards on this list focus on point output rather than disruption, and were mostly tried in the Goblin/Debrii slots. Colleen and Strong Guy are synergistic above-rate threats, while Maximus and Lizard are simple stat sticks. These were the lists with which Hat and I noticed the issues with unimpeded combo decks on the opposing side of the board.

Bonus Deck: Sera Move

I love this deck. I can’t 100% vouch for quality just yet, but I think it’s just a fantastic option to add to Sera, and something that really caught people off-guard when I played it. The main combo we’re trying to leverage is Sera into Kingpin+Aero on turn six, but what this deck really taught me is that Polaris and Juggernaut are just flat-out strong.

Polaris is honestly a bit undercosted for the power she has. She has a statline that implies her ability is a drawback, but if you’re gaining advantage over the opponent with it by filling up lanes, it’s anything but. Juggernaut is what people think Leader is on turn six: a flat out lane winner. I also wanted to give a shoutout to WesD4Best, who was the first person I saw working with this shell.

Wrap Up:

Entering this period just before global release, I think Sera decks are going to be a consistent part of the metagame. Since I didn’t cover any of them last week, I think it was only right that they get a full spotlight now, as players will want to know how to play them, how to build them and how to beat them.
