Best Dum Dum Dugan Decks to Try on Day 1 and Strategy Guide

Read about the new card's strengths and weaknesses and find some decks to try it out in here!

Dum Dum Dugan is the card you can get through playing the High Voltage game mode between April 17 and April 24, 2025 during the What if…? season. It is a 2-Cost, 3 Power card that reads: Ongoing: Your front-row cards here have +1 Power. (can’t add to itself)

Today, we take a deeper look at the new card and, of course, the best decks to try it out in.

High Voltage

You can grab Dum Dum Dugan at the end of the reward track in the returning High Voltage game mode. Check out our guide on how to approach the mode for its third appearance in Marvel Snap!

Please note: Card has been replaced by Toxie Doxie on the reward track. Stay tuned for an updated guide!

Strengths and Weaknesses

Dum Dum Dugan obviously comes as a reinforcement to Captain Carter, as playing the 2-Cost behind the Season Pass card means you’ll also grant its power boost to your back row. However, I believe Dum Dum Dugan is more than just a sidekick to Captain Carter.

It will be a [2/5] on average—which is already pretty good—and might routinely end up contributing up to 7 or 9 power with a little help. Indeed, when you start including Iron Man, Moonstone, Goliath, and other Ongoing synergies in the mix, Dum Dum Dugan suddenly looks like a pretty good 2-Cost.

Another thing I like about the card is its cost. Marvel Snap has forever been played with counter cards that often cost between three and four energy. Dum Dum Dugan comes in as a potential way to spend your remaining energy alongside your Shang-Chi or Enchantress on Turn 6. It also helps that its obvious pairing, Captain Carter, is also a 4-Cost card.

There are two limitations to the card, though. The first are the threats that all Ongoing cards face, Enchantress, Rogue and Super-Skrull. All three of these are currently roaming the meta in various decks. There isn’t much you can do about them other than play protective cards in your deck.

It is important to note that Dum Dum Dugan should be fairly resilient to these, as the card is better when played later in the match since its condition requires it to be played on a location that already has two cards.

That condition is the second limitation to Dum Dum Dugan; it’s a 2-Cost that you might not want to hold onto when we don’t have another option available early. Fortunately, there are plenty of very strong 2-Cost cards in the current environment that you would be happy to drop on the board at that time, which allows you to keep Dum Dum Dugan in your hand for later.

I don’t think it will be necessary, but you could also use Madame Web to move Dum Dum Dugan later on if you had to play it earlier in the match.

The Verdict

Dum Dum Dugan is the card that Captain Carter has been waiting for during the first two weeks of the season, and it should also be solid reinforcement in the Ongoing synergy.

I know the cards we get from temporary events haven’t had a great track record, but I believe the new 2-Cost is coming in at the perfect time. I’m hopeful it will land closer to a Cassandra Nova than an Agony.

Pre-Release Score:

Rating: 6 out of 10.

Dum Dum Dugan Decks

The current meta has plenty of decks based around the Ongoing synergy, and a couple of those use Captain Carter.

All three archetypes below are competitive at the moment, so I expect Dum Dum Dugan to be able to step right into the meta as soon as you unlock it.

There are no variants for Dum Dum Dugan at the moment. Booooooooo.

Closing Thoughts

The current meta should help make Dum Dum Dugan a playable new card, but It doesn’t take away the fact that it is a base [2/5] that you can fairly easily turn into a [2/7]. In decks like Ongoing combo and Sera Control, I would expect Dum Dum Dugan to challenge Lizard or Dazzler for their spots, as the new 2-Cost doesn’t require as much setup to function at full force.

I’d say this is a pretty good card to grab for free.

I hope this review of the new card was helpful. You can find everyone on the Marvel Snap Zone team in our community discord to have a chat or ask any questions.
