Deafening Chord is part of the series 4 cards joining Marvel Snap for the November 2025 Season, Arachnid Anarchy. It is a 1-Cost skill card that reads: On Reveal: Afflict an enemy character here that costs 3 or less with -1 Power and remove its text.
Today, let’s explore the new card strengths and, of course, the best decks to try it out in.
Series 4 cards can be purchased for 3,000 Collector’s Tokens from the Token Shop as the latest Seasonal Spotlight card. They will be also be included in the Seasonal Series 4 Snap Pack for 2,500 Collector’s Tokens during their season and the following one.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Skill cards are typically utility tools, designed to provide some flexible abilities to a deck without rigid play-patterns, or support specific cards. At the moment, the only skills we see are The Hunger plus those created by Merlin or Agamotto. Indeed, Web Sling failed to make into any deck, while Astral Projection never did.
Overall, it is clear skills need to be tied to powerful synergies or cards in order to see play. As support cards, they do not represent the core of a synergy, so their popularity will be based on how strong the cards they support are.
Well, that was true until Deafening Chord showed up. As a disruptive card reminiscent of Red Guardian, its power will depend on our opponent more than our strategy. Indeed, while there are some synergies to leverage, such as Angela, Werewolf By Night, Hope Summers, or Zombie Scarlet Witch, the big question is : What targets are we looking to remove the text of?

I only took the best targets, and already, there is quite a list.
However, for all those great cards, Deafening Chord is also much more likely to miss compared to a Red Guardian. Indeed, the 3-cost tells you which target you will hit (except for power ties) if you have priority. However, except if your target is the only card at the location, it is quite likely the others there will also be on the cheaper side. Then, it is probable Deafening Chord will be a 50 or 33% chance at best.
From the list above, except for Move and Destroy cards, most of the others are played in archetypes will lots of other cheap cards.
Then, Deafening Chord poses two problems:
- If it ever becomes a popular inclusion, opponents will make sure to never let their best target alone at a location.
- We will never play Deafening Chord on turn one. With that in mind, we need to find other cards to pair with, while Red Guardian is often played on turn three, removing a foundational piece for our opponent.
The Verdict: Should You Get Deafening Chord?
Overall, Deafening Chord has a great disruptive potential, and its cost allows it to be a flexible card we can fit in most turns if playing a deck without rigid play-patterns.
However, I feel like it will quite simple for the opponent to make this a 50/50 shot, limiting the impact Deafening Chord can have compared to Red Guardian or CosmicGhostRider.

Deafening Chord Decks
Werewolf By Night has to be the best card to pair Deafening Chord with. Indeed, the 3-cost would move thanks to the skill, while we wouldn’t be using a spot on a location, and trigger a powerful ability on top.
It might seem reductive to tie the new skill to just one card. Yet, Werewolf By Night and Merlin are a very flexible duo, able to fit many archetypes. Then, we just have to make that a trio and test it in the archetype most fit for our own metagame :
