Best Colonel America Decks and Strategy Guide

Is the new card worth buying or trying your luck in Snap Packs? Read our guide and find some decks to try out on day 1 in here!

Colonel America is the first Series 5 cards joining Marvel Snap for the September 2025 Season, Undead Horde. It is a 3-Cost, 3-Power card that reads: Ongoing: Your other cards here have +1 Power for each turn you’ve discarded a card.

Today, let’s explore the new card strengths and, of course, the best decks to try it out in.

Series 5 cards can be purchased for 6,000 Collector’s Tokens from the Token Shop as the latest Seasonal Spotlight card. They will be also be included in the Seasonal Series 5 Snap Pack for 5,000 Collector’s Tokens during their season and the following one.

Strengths and Weaknesses

At first glance, Colonel America has a pretty sick potential. Indeed, even if we discarded during two turns only, we still get a [3/9] with three cards alongside our new 3-cost.
Plus, Discard has Swarm to pair with the new card, perfect to fill the location with 0-costs on the last turn of play, make sure we maximize the value of Colonel America.

Then, my question isn’t so much about the power we could develop with Colonel America, as it should easily be amongst the top scorers for its cost in the right deck. Rather, I’m wondering if Discard needs another points driven card considering the amount we have available already.

If yes, which deck ?

  • Hela already runs Gambit and Corvus Glaive as 3-cost cards, while the random placement if Colonel America was ressumoned by Hela is quite anti-synergistic.
  • Discard Dracula makes the most sense, but that deck already runs Gambit, Corvus Glaive and Lady Sif in the 3-cost slot. Plus, Khonshu and Apocalypse really don’t want you to run fewer discard abilities.
Proxima Midnight could be replaced, but we still need to figure out when to play Colonel America within that deck’s curve.
  • Bullseye isn’t really a deck looking to discard during a lot of turns. Typically, that deck will discard on the last turn with M.O.D.O.K, and early with Colleen Wing or Blade. Otherwise, the mid-turns are reserved for Bullseye, Daken and cards to copy them.
Once again, it is difficult to fit a 3-cost within that curve.
  • if we believe Colonel America is enough when we discard twice in a game, we could turn to the likes of Black Knight or Stature Darkhawk type of decks. With a bit more emphasis on the discard mechanic, these decks should be able to routinely discard during two to three turns in a game, enough to make the new card represent a [3/9] or a [3/12].

In my opinion, finding where Colonel America is the best fit will be the hardest challenge with that card. If we find that deck, we should easily get a Speed in Wiccan decks type of performance from the new 3-cost.
Looking at all our options, I’m going to put my money on another new card :

Now we have to fit two new cards into a discard build, but at least, there is an obvious synergy and curve to rely on. If we go with these two, we will naturally have to rethink certain builds, or find a discard archetype still flexible in its deckbuilding.

If we do find that deck, Colonel America could be a target due to its Ongoing keyword, which could call for Enchantress or Rogue since Morbius is also an Ongoing card in that same synergy.

The Verdict: Should You Get Colonel America ?

Paired with Zombie Power Man, Colonel America doesn’t look so bad. Indeed, a [2/4] is quite likely to win its location on turn two, meaning the new card immediately comes in on turn three granting +1 power. If we were to win that location a second time, we are already in that [3/9] zone for Colonel America.

As for filling the location to get the maximum power, Swarm should take care of that.

It is a niche pairing, but could end up as a strong one.

Colonel America Decks

The two cards I foresee as the best pairings for Colonel America are Swarm and Zombie Power Man, so I built the decks for the new card around these two.

In the first two decks, we emphasize on Zombie Power Man discarding our leftmost card, which naturally ties it to Agatha Harkness and her typical friends, Red Shift and Black Knight.

In the other two, I simply took your typical Bullseye and Dracula discard decks. The goal will be to create plenty of Swarm to have a shot at challenging a location for just 3 energy, using Colonel America to beef up my now 0-cost Swarms.
It looks more gimmicky than what those decks are typically able to do, but it could represent a fine alternative when Plan A doesn’t work out.

Conclusion

Overall, Colonel America is a limited card due to its ties with the Discard synergy. Yet, the ability to grow it to challenge the likes of Sage, Speed, and other top scorers amongst 3-cost at least makes me curious, especially with Swarm easy to slot in most discard builds.
