During the weekend, there is now one more set of Missions for players to complete: The Bonus Challenge! These involve additional rewards for winning games related to the week’s new card and the Season Pass card. These missions provide extra Collector’s Tokens, Gold, and Credits!
You need to win games with the card starting in your deck, and it does not count if the card was generated by cards such as Cable, Loki, and Maria Hill. Each of these reward amounts will vary depending on the difficulty of the mission. However, you don’t have to play the card during the course of the match for it to count, it just needs to be in your starting twelve!
There will be Bonus Challenge Missions available for each new card release to allow players to earn back Collector’s Tokens and subsidize their cost. Players can also expect the rewards to be stabilized at 200 Tokens to help them plan their token budget for the month.
Young Avengers: Bonus Challenge – August 23, 2024
The distribution for the Bonus Challenge this season appears to be similar to the April 2024 Thunderbolts Season and it has been confirmed by the developers that this month will be backloaded for the final two weeks. This week’s Bonus Challenge Missions are:
| Mission | # | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Play 3-Cost Cards | 15 | 150 Credits |
| Win with Speed starting in your Deck | 4 | 300 Collector’s Tokens |
| Win with | 8 | 150 Gold |

Most players will want to be efficient with these missions, so today we will give you a few different decks that incorporate all the cards featured each weekend.
We’ll also give you a short guide on how to get the most out of the decks and finish the missions quickly. First, let’s take a quick look at the new card’s performance this week.

Speed Performance

Speed found some allies in Wiccan and Magik early on, either because they shared a similar purpose or added another opportunity for some extra power. However, the card performed best in an Ongoing deck if you look at the results, and those decks typically want to spend all their energy anyway. Wiccan could be slotted in an Ongoing deck with Speed, but Magik doesn’t really fit that mold.

At its best, Speed is a [3/9]—which is pretty good, but it can often fall flat in comparison to a Cassandra Nova, a Copycat that stole a key ability, or a Loki that opened a whole new game plan. Speed struggled to find a slot in the current popular archetypes that were looking for great 3-Cost to include, and he quickly started to lose momentum.
Plus, the card doesn’t fit the Silver Surfer archetype since it routinely skips energy in the early turns, and it can also fail to spend all of its energy on Turns 4 and 5. Apart from a full Ongoing deck (either a classic one with Spectrum or a Thanos-themed one), Speed doesn’t look like a must-buy at this point.
The Verdict
I like to think of Speed as a better Punisher… but that doesn’t really put the new card in a great light. Indeed, being an improved version of a starter card doesn’t make you worth 6,000 Collector’s Tokens. As such, unless you want Jeff or Iron Lad—two cards I believe were placed alongside Speed to entice us to spend our spotlight keys—I would skip Speed and keep my resources for future cards.
Post-Release Score:
Ongoing Speed Decks
While the most efficient plan to complete your Speed missions this weekend might be to slot the card into a Good Cards build and not look back, the Ongoing theme is also a possibility. Both of these decks aim to spend all their energy each turn for a maxed out Speed, and Spectrum can give him a little extra power on Turn 6. Although the Classic Ongoing deck isn’t super flexible, the Thanos build gives you plenty of room to tinker if it’s not to your liking. For example, you could consider adding Ka-Zar and
Other Speed Decks
Not a fan of the Ongoing archetypes? Here are a few solid decks with Speed slotted in to complete the missions. Just know that there are better cards to play in that slot and you can swap it out once done your missions are done.
For example, the Speed deck with the best Cube Average so far is this Sandman Midrange deck. However, that same deck posted better results with Makkari in that slot, or even with the the Marvel Boy + Squirrel Girl duo. This has kind of been the story with Speed. The card is decent, but it’s never enough to be in the top twelve of an archetype (except for maybe Ongoing specific decks, which aren’t doing well in this environment).
I’m not going to recommend any Quicksilver and/or Domino decks. They are, on average, terrible, and I want you to play nice decks.
Kate Bishop
The Season Pass card got off to a slow start this season, but she picked up a lot of momentum last week after people realized she was a great way to spend energy for Wiccan‘s condition. This week, Speed pushed that same theme of spending all your energy every turn, although the card didn’t have the same impact Wiccan had.
Here are some decks that have posted great results with
Closing Thoughts
Wins with the new cards may seem a tall order some weeks depending what quality of card is released. Speed is a fairly straightforward inclusion in Ongoing or Wiccan-themed decks, but unfortunately he hasn’t shined so far. Even though you’ll gain some Collector’s Tokens by completing his missions over the weekend, it is hard to recommend the purchase unless you really like the card. Hopefully this guide helps you decide first if you want the card prior to the missions coming out, and what you can potentially play to complete the missions quickly!
Good Game Everyone.
