Namora Decks & Week 1 Review: Bonus Challenge Guide (Featuring Skaar)

Complete the Bonus Challenge Missions efficiently using our decks, or find out how they are performing with our review and decide if you should get the card!

During the weekend, there is now one more set of Missions for players to complete: The Bonus Challenge! These involve additional rewards for winning games related to the week’s new card and the Season Pass card. These missions provide extra Collector’s Tokens, Gold and Credits!

You need to win games with the card starting in your deck, and it does not count if the card was generated by cards such as Cable, Loki, and Maria Hill. Each of these reward amounts will vary depending on the difficulty of the mission.

There will be Bonus Challenge Missions available for each new card release to allow players to earn back Collector’s Tokens and subsidize their cost. Players can also expect the rewards to be stabilized at 200 Tokens to help them plan their token budget for the month.

A Blink in Time: Bonus Challenge – May 24, 2024

Second Dinner has changed the formula for the Bonus Challenge Missions in the A Blink in Time season. Below is a message from Griffin that explains the changes.

We wanted to share a reminder that we’re continuing our experiment with weekend Missions featuring the Season Pass card. This month we’ll be featuring Blink for the first weekend with consolidated rewards of 600 Gold. The following weekend Missions this Season will feature cards that synergize with Blink or the new Spotlight card of the week. As always, please share your feedback with us!

Griffin – Second Dinner

Most players will want to be efficient with these missions, so today we will give you four different decks that incorporate both cards featured each weekend.

We’ll also give you a short guide on how to get the most out of the decks and finish the missions quickly. First, let’s take a quick look at the new card’s performance this week.

Namora was released to Marvel Snap at a strange time in the metagame, during the height of Leech and Junk decks. Two of these strategies have seen balance changes since the release, which makes analyzing the long term success for Namora tricky.

In relation to playing her as a card alone, the downside of other cards being added to your side of the board alone can impact her success. However, what she can do which could take some time to be fully realized, is sit within a deck which has a lot of potential in a world without Leech.

The synergy cards are what may be the reason to pick this card up. These cards form a deck which can perform well into a field with less Leech and Junk decks. Namora then acts as another big synergy play for post-Wong which can win the game. This combines really well with cards like Jeff the Baby Land Shark and Nocturne as they can take the buffs and still be moved on the final turn of the game.

The key point though, is the deck’s success comes down to all the over cards also and this makes her feel quite limited although powerful when she works. A card you’re likely to see in On Reveal focused decks often going forward because the ceiling from her is that high.

What about just including her in “Good Cards” shells or ramping her out? In theory, these plans are excellent. The numbers add up to the “mini Doctor Doom” range but in reality it is underwhelming, and the reason for this is simple – you have better options.

If you want to do a midrange deck, try Ms. Marvel, or if you want to do a ramp deck simply playing Blink or even Vision competes with playing Namora. Whilst you can find success with these directions, she always just feels like the lesser option than including other cards.

Should you Buy Namora?

The answer as it stands is no, but the Wong On Reveal deck does impressive numbers and can be piloted and compete with most decks. However, other directions for the card are average at best and this makes her feel a little like a “One Deck” card. It may end up being a competitive deck, but her long term success will be linked to this deck. If you’re on any kind of a budget this is one your likely not going to miss skipping on.

In theory if it is ever at the top of the metagame, there are plenty of directions to attack it from. If you’re a fan of Wong decks though, don’t let me stop you.

This deck looks to cut all the cards which can be used against our play and focus on pulling off some kind of Wong combination every game. We have three cards which can be relocated along with Echo to defend the Wong lane. Multiple big On Reveal plays and of course Odin for the turn 6 re-trigger.

The plan is simple, set up cards on the lanes your not playing Wong. Then Wong, then on turn 5play your best On Reveal play, White Tiger or Namora. Then on turn 6 you go for Doctor Doom or Odin.

Sandman may be useful in this early metagame so this Electro deck is leaning into the Sandman direction. The simple plan is to ramp into Blink, play bigger things than your opponent and aim to lock out a turn 6 with Sandman against most the decks currently looking to use the Werewolf By Night changes and Loki.

For this week’s crossover, no Blink required! Skaar is a challenge in the current metagame but this Namora deck goes all in. The goal is to prioritize the Namora line, then reduce Skaar using Wong into Namora. This then lets you play Skaar out as a final turn option or continue with other On Reveal options for the final turns. White Tiger remains as your secondary turn 5 on Wong play and with Ravonna Renslayer on board can even be played on turn 6 alongside a reduced Skaar.

If you just want to play big cards and have fun this weekend though, try this direction. Sunspot and Nebula allow for some early skips for She-Hulk or we simply play Jubilee into Blink. Skaar should average 2 Energy on the final turn giving you flexibility or you simply slam it down and soak the rest of the Energy into your Sunspot.

Closing Thoughts

Wins with the new card may seem a tall order some weeks depending what quality of card is released. Hopefully this guide helps you decide first if you want the card prior to the missions coming out, and what you can potentially play to complete the missions quickly!

Good Luck, Have Fun, and Stay Safe!
