During the weekend, there is now one more set of Missions for players to complete: The Bonus Challenge! These involve additional rewards for winning games related to the week’s new card and the Season Pass card. These missions provide extra Collector’s Tokens, Gold, and Credits!
You need to win games with the card starting in your deck, and it does not count if the card was generated by cards such as Cable, Loki, and Maria Hill. Each of these reward amounts will vary depending on the difficulty of the mission. However, you don’t have to play the card during the course of the match for it to count, it just needs to be in your starting twelve!
There will be Bonus Challenge Missions available for each new card release to allow players to earn back Collector’s Tokens and subsidize their cost. Players can also expect the rewards to be stabilized at 200 Tokens to help them plan their token budget for the month.
Marvel Rivals: Bonus Challenges – December 20, 2024
This week’s Bonus Challenge Missions are:
| Mission | # | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Play 6-Cost Cards | 15 | 150 Credits |
| Win with Doctor Doom 2099 starting in your Deck | 4 | 200 Collector’s Tokens |
| Win with Galacta starting in your Deck | 8 | 150 Gold |

Most players will want to be efficient with these missions, so today we will give you a few different decks that incorporate all the cards featured each weekend. You can find the current best performing deck for each card down below, as well as some other options to match your collection or play style preferences.
We’ll also give you a short guide on how to get the most out of the decks and finish the missions quickly. First, let’s take a quick look at the new card’s performance this week.

Doctor Doom 2099 Performance

Even though the numbers aren’t out of this world, Doctor Doom 2099 has all the intangibles of a meta staple. Indeed, all the metrics are solid after the first week, regardless of whether you’re looking at the ranking, the Win Rates, or the Cube Rates. Plus, with a 4.1% meta share, it is hard to say the card just found a lucky streak.
I would say this is likely a card you should purchase if you haven’t already.
Post-Release Score:
Galacta Performance

The stats for Galacta are kind of difficult to make sense of, which I would largely attribute to its huge popularity of 12% in the meta. One thing is for sure: Galacta needs to be in play, as the difference between the “On Play” and “On Draw” metrics is massive.
The right way to play the card is likely in a deck that wants to get her on the board as early as possible, but that’s also dependent on finding Galacta in every game. With over 4000 games recorded games, the Season Pass card is been featured in tons of different lists, which makes these numbers hard to analyze precisely.
Post-Release Score:
Best Decks
I typically split the decks for each card to highlight different choices for each of them (or both at the same time if possible). In the case of Galacta and Doctor Doom 2099, both cards are so similar in what they require from your deck (i.e. trying to get them on board on Turn 3) that I believe all these decks could run both cards if you wanted to get your missions done faster.
Indeed, apart from the one deck that can’t play Doctor Doom 2099 (the Nimrod Destroyer list), all the decks would have no trouble removing a card to find some space for either Galacta or Doctor Doom 2099. If you choose to add Doctor Doom 2099 to a deck, consider bringing the other Doctor Doom along for the ride since his DoomBots are also buffed by the DoomBot 2099s.
I expect these missions will be done rather quickly considering the current state of the meta. The competitive environment right now rewards explosive starts into an early Snap. In the top ranks, most games end in a Retreat depending on when the player with the strong opening Snaps.
As for the type of game play these decks push for, they basically all adapt to whichever power card you are able to get on the board first. If it’s Galacta, you want to play more flexibly and make sure you get extra three power every turn. If it’s Doctor Doom 2099, you want to curve into a 4-, 5-, and 6-Cost to end the match.
Closing Thoughts
Doctor Doom 2099 is undoubtedly a strong card. It’s so good, in fact, that we are seeing decks tech Red Guardian to disable it, or Super-Skrull to benefit from your opponent’s DoomBot 2099 buffs. Also, it’s important to note that both of these cards can also help against Mister Negative, one of the few archetypes that Doctor Doom 2099 will rarely beat on points if both decks draw as intended.
As for Galacta, the card remains a backbone of the Good Cards archetype, which has been a meta staple basically forever at this point. There aren’t many exotic builds using Galacta, though, other than Nimrod decks that just look like a more complicated way to get the same result as slamming Doctor Doom 2099 on Turn 3.
Hopefully this guide helps you decide if you want the card prior to the missions coming out, as well as what you can play to complete the missions quickly!
Good Game Everyone.
