Best Marvel Snap Cards: Series 4 & 5 Meta Tier List – November 28, 2023

New Marvel Snap cards are hard to come by, and it's important to spend your Spotlight Caches and Collector's Tokens wisely. In this new series, we review all the Series 4 & 5 cards, as well as decks you can try to keep you up to date on the meta!

In Marvel Snap, new cards are released weekly into Series 4 or 5, and players need to carefully think about whether they should purchase the card or not. To help players make better decisions and build better decks based on their collections, we rate all the cards from Series 4 and 5 into a Meta Tier List and review the current meta.

  • Each week on Tuesday, a new Series 4 or 5 card is introduced to the game. For more information on card release schedules, click here.
  • Series 4 and 5 cards can be obtained from Spotlight Caches that appear every 120 Collection Levels after 500. They can be one of the three featured cards that rotate every week, or a random Series 4 or 5 card.
  • Series 4 cards cost 3,000 Collector’s Tokens and Series 5 cards cost 6,000 from the Token Shop.
  • Cards no longer have a scheduled Series Drop; it is now at the discretion of the developer. Currently, there is no indication that there will be one in the foreseeable future.

Introduction to the New Series 4 & 5 Meta Tier List Report

This report is informed by our new approach to rating and reviewing all of the Series 4 and 5 cards. Over the past few months, it has become clear that Series Drops will not be occurring as often, and major changes can occur to cards that change their value. This changes the previously maintained Meta Tier Lists almost weekly, which was never the original intention of our old Tier List structure.

Instead, these reports will discuss the biggest movers and shakers and highlight at least one deck to try (although I will often aim for more), and the Tier List will be updated accordingly. Hopefully, this will help ensure this is a valuable resource for reviewing cards to consider investing in, as well as a better live snapshot of how the cards are playing! This report will be updated every 2 weeks or after significant changes occur.

Tier Explanation

This Tier List is heavily geared towards the current environment, and the report will be updated bi-weekly at a minimum. This is to adjust for the in-game balance changes and what is competitively viable.

  • Tier 1: These are the cards that support a current top tier deck in the meta or are universally strong enough that not owning them is a disadvantage.
  • Tier 2: These are strong cards that are core to playing the currently strong archetypes, or are strong enough that you can play them in several different deck types.
  • Tier 3: These are strong supporting pieces of specific archetypes that can be replaced, part of archetypes that are currently not performing at a Tier 2 level, or are universal cards that are options but often replaceable.
  • Tier 4: These cards are niche and can only be used within very specific archetypes or only support an archetype that is currently not performing well.
  • Tier 5: These cards are very limited and easily eclipsed by other options.
  • Kang: This tier is a special tier to represent just how much lower this card is than the cards above.
  • * This card is provisionally ranked, and in-game performance may change the ranking as the changes are either not finalized or still too new.
  • ** This card is ranked higher in anticipation of a changing meta due to new card releases or balance changes and will be evaluated again on release.

High Evolutionary

High Evolutionary is a card that enables a whole subset of decks that all seem to fluctuate within the meta, and it currently sits in a good position to compete. They can be built to drop large amounts of stats on later turns while having good counter cards for Destroy, and they can even make the new Junk Lockdown decks have a harder time with a well placed Cosmo.

While not quite breaking into Tier 1 (since you can technically build these strategies without High Evolutionary), this week served as a reminder of how evergreen this card seems to be. Unlike Thanos, you still only have 12 cards in your deck, and the Evolved cards open up a lot of options and combos. The one mark against the card is how “on the rails” the decks can sometimes feel. Still, as we enter the Infinity Conquest week, having reliable decks and plays can have some serious value.

This deck just seems to always be able to perform. Armor and Cosmo often remove Alioth concerns, and Leech on Turn 5 can stop many Turn 6 counterplays – especially against Magik and Limbo. Then it’s simply a case of dropping your big cards in the best spots and winning the game.

The Infinaut and She-Hulk on Turn 7 is a lot of power, and your opponent will often be more committed than you are, which makes your chances of choosing the right lanes better.

Nebula

There is an argument that Nebula is currently the best 1-drop in the game. It is, in my opinion, one of the core cards that makes the Annihilus Lockdown decks work. This deck is one of the new top contenders that has emerged since Annihilus released, and several builds can be found with Storm and Nebula forming the early set up turns.

It is also core to many different High Evolutionary builds right now, which are also contenders for the top spots. Supporting many of the top decks is what makes this a valuable card right now, and it’s one that can be used across several archetypes that can perform well.

In this deck, you want to lock down the right lane with Storm, play Sentry, and then send The Void across to your opponent. This plan is supported by locking down other lanes with Professor X and cards like Valkyrie or Shang-Chi flipping lanes in your favor. Of course, you also have Alioth.

Debrii falls in and out of favor for me. It has some anti-synergy with Nebula, but also the power boost from turning Ms. Marvel on and off can surprise opponents. You can also use it to make life more difficult for Loki decks (but you do often help destroy opponents in the early game).

Negasonic Teenage Warhead

Since its adjustment, Negasonic Teenage Warhead has been a much stronger surprise card. Unfortunately, its performance has remained somewhat muted, but it is moving up this week with its role as a potential supporting option improving. The card is in a better position right now since Lockdown decks can often limit their own plays on later turns while also ceding priority. This allow you to play it out as a defense option for the later turns with more confidence.

The card is certainly worth exploring right now, and, while you may not need it in your deck, the surprise value may be worthwhile in the current environment.

Above is a Silver Surfer deck where Negasonic can clearly be replaced with other impactful 3-drops, but in the current meta the card makes a lot of sense. It can be played in lanes where you are expecting key plays like The Sentry or Ms. Marvel while supporting the key game plan: play 3-Cost cards. It’s a high reward card when it works, so I think it’s worth considering.

Conclusion

That’s it! All Series 4 and 5 cards in Marvel Snap ranked in the current environment. Marvel Snap is a unique game, and these cards can lead to different scenarios and decks. At times, you may just like a certain character more than another. As a final disclaimer: chasing the card you want with your heart instead of your head is not wrong.
