After a week-long break, a new bundle is available with what seems like decent value at first glance. Let’s take a closer look to see how it really performs.
At a moderately high price of 4,000 Gold, the Believe in Magik bundle has quite decent stats: 118% Progress Value and 0.91 Total Tokens per Gold (considering that the recommended value to even consider buying a bundle is 0.90).
Unfortunately, the bundle lacks a high-series card – we only see a variant for a Series 3 card, Magik, which there are already over 30 of in the game! Furthermore, the bundle focuses on Tokens rather than Credits, even though the latter has a much higher natural value. This might affect the real value of the bundle compared to its competitors, but more on that later.
Comparison With Other Bundles
The bundle performs well in terms of Progress Value – it stays above average, even if it doesn’t quite reach the level of the best bundles from recent months.
Within its price range, the bundle is also very solid. Over the last six months, only Clone With A Cause was better at a similar price point.
However, in terms of Total Tokens per Gold, the Believe in Magik bundle doesn’t quite reach the same heights. Still, it sits comfortably above average, which is especially clear when looking at bundles from the last 6 months. In that time, we’ve only seen two bundles with a significantly higher Total Tokens per Gold ratio than 0.90 – 0.92, excluding Booster Packs of course.
So yeah, the values for this bundle are quite good, even if they aren’t top-tier.
Use cases for the Magik variant
Unfortunately, Magik is a Series 3 card, which means you won’t get any extra value from the bundle unless you’re a beginner with an incomplete Series 3 collection.
So, let’s look at the prospects of having a Magik variant in your collection to spice up the decks you already have. And what can I say… The plus side is that Magik is an extremely popular card, and to fit just the main decks into this article, I had to hide them under a spoiler below. There you can find current meta decks that use Magik: Negative, Nimrod + Galactus, Zombie Galacti, Toxic Surfer, High Evo, and Tribunal decks.
The downside is that there are already over 30 variants released for Magik, so you likely have one or more variants that you already enjoy using in-game. Plus, in my opinion, the variant in this bundle isn’t the best one, and there are much better variants available.
Conclusion
So, we’re looking at a bundle that isn’t too bad but is slightly ruined by three things:
- Too many Tokens and not enough Credits. If it were the other way around, the real Progress Value would be significantly higher. As it stands, Tokens are only used to buy cards and don’t offer any extra benefits like Credits do – such as leveling up your CL track, getting cosmetics along the way, unlocking new splits, or making progress on Mastery.
- A variant for a Series 3 card. If it were a variant for a higher series card, I think many more people would be interested in buying the bundle. Purchasing a bundle for a card that already has over 30 variants feels questionable.
- Not the highest stats. This is what keeps the bundle from getting a rating of 4 or higher. Yes, the charts look good and it’s above average, but only by a little bit. That puts this bundle in the 3-3.5 star range, and considering the cons mentioned above, my final rating for this bundle is 3 stars.
So, you’re better off continuing to buy Booster Packs or saving your Gold. This bundle is only worth considering for those who, for some reason, really need a Magik variant and have plenty of Gold to spare.
Also, don’t forget that you can evaluate this bundle in comparison to others using a variety of different criteria, utilizing the special chart on the dedicated Believe in Magik bundle page! Below is an updated guide on how to use our tools to evaluate bundles on your own.
