Vormir Featured Location Guide: Strategy, Best Cards and Decks
Table of Contents
This week’s Marvel Snap Featured Location is Vormir: The first card you play here is destroyed. This is a brand new location for Marvel Snap’s The Power Cosmic Season, now added to the Location pool. For the next 48 hours, it will show up 40% more frequently in games during this feature period. Let’s find out what the best strategies, cards, and decks are!
What is Vormir?

If you have seen Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, you should be keenly aware of this tear jerker of a location. This is the resting place of the Soul Stone and was required the sacrifice, which for Thanos was Gamora and for our heroes was Black Widow. Two of the more powerful scenes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe were at this location.
Strategy
This location’s build-arounds will be all in, so up front here a quick warning: Leech and Leader are good for this location. Greedy combos will be held in hand and built towards, whether that’s Knull, Death or any other combo. Leech will remove all that work and Leader will copy their homework on turn 6.
Second point for anyone wanting to play anything different: Armor will turn the location off, allowing you to play other styles of decks without the need for Storm, Scarlet Witch or Rhino.
Death and Knull on the surface are the big winners. Both benefit from destroy targets and are made stronger by the locations effect. However it is more likely that Electro is the way to consider going. You can guarantee your Electro destroyed, opening up the possibilities with less of the downside. Even including The Hood or Bucky Barnes into more strategies just to get the 1 energy 6 power card is a valid inclusion for the location.
Cards and Deck Ideas
These lists are starting to be built with Series 4 and 5 cards. Where they are not the feature card I will include a note on what cards to consider swapping in.
Leech, Leader and Electro

The Leech + Leader deck gets a small upgrade as we can play Electro, use Vormir to destroy it then continue on with our day. The theorycraft doesn’t lean all the way in and maintains a lot of the pieces making the current deck a menace but adds Odin (for double Leaders) and Doctor Doom (because its great with Odin).
Knull and Deadpool

Knull may have just enough room with this location to get enough power and complete some Arnim Zola combos with Magik consistently. See Vormir as an extra free Deadpool, Bucky Barnes, Sabretooth, Nova activation and destroy as much as you can. Magik on 5. Knull on 6, Arnim Zola on 7 then win games. Excited to see if the free destroys on Sabretooth in particular can make this deck work for 48 hours! If you don’t have Knull, see the deck below.
Death
Using the same strategy as the Knull deck but better? Taskmaster is great against Leader plays, as we try to build a big Venom and the backup plan is copying Death. Sabretooth is the addition for the location, he will become 0 energy and can then be destroyed again on turns 4 and potentially 5 for free destroys throughout the game.
What You Should Play
Electro with Leader and Leech seems the logical place to start. If everyone can make a pact not to play Leech, Destroy decks will be fun and even just playing Sabretooth or Hood in other decks could find value.
Pool 1
Series 1 can’t abuse this location too much, unfortunately. It’s almost actively harder to play as you will need cards to sacrifice into the location. Armor will help mitigate this. We add in Nova and Carnage into Zoo too allow use to use the Nova buff if we miss on Vormir. We can also put Captain America in as we are less likely to fully buff Wolfsbane.
Pool 2
If you are in Series 2, I strongly recommend trying this version of the Leech deck built especially for you and this location. We have Nova and Carnage for board buff. Sabretooth to get destroyed consistently with Vormir and come back into your hand. This will trigger The Collector, Moon Girl to double your Devil Dinosaur and Sabretooth, then Leech to ruin your opponent’s day. The limited pool of cards you face in Series 2 should have significant difficulty into the location and if you’re in early Series 3, this deck has Leech to ruin your opponent’s day.
Final Turn
Remember at the time of writing, these starter decks are untested. These are theorycraft ideas to get you going and looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with for Vormir. A couple of thoughts:
1. Destroyer decks are pretty happy here. Not just Armor, but also Colossus don’t mind the location at all. Heck, can even play a late Professor X if the opponent ignores the location for a free win. Using Leader on Destroyer can backfire massively.
2. If you play a Death deck, hold onto a Carnage or Deathlok for the last turn if you expect a Leader. Seeing someone Leader a lane away is always so nice.
