Black Vortex Hot Location – Best Decks

The best Marvel Snap decks and strategy guide for the Featured Location, Black Vortex: The first card you play here becomes a random 6-Cost card. So, are you feeling lucky?

The Featured Location for the next 24 hours is Black Vortex: The first card you play here becomes a random 6-Cost card. This is a brand new Location added to the pool for Marvel Snap’s February 2024 Season, Black Order. For 24 hours, it also has a 50% chance of showing up in games.

Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! So, what will you play?

Strategy and General Tips

Black Vortex is our final new location for the Black Order season. When you play your first card at this location it will transform into a random 6-Cost card. This is another location that may not seem useful, but it could have a major impact on some of the strongest decks in the meta.

Thanos is the easy way. You have six 1-drops that add utility and can easily be changed into a 6-drop. This should improve Thanos decks during the location, which is why playing Thanos is the default recommendation for this location. This is the easy option; play the good deck and play it with the added advantage of the location. It’s not flashy, but it’s the way to go if you have the cards.

However, the main synergy you’re trying to abuse can be used in other ways during the location. The location transforms the card after it’s effects trigger. This means that Electro will become three energy play that transforms to a random 6-drop card and gives you +1 energy. This is clearly the kind of card you would want to play in Marvel Snap, so this locations gives you the opportunity to play decks that rely on Electro without experiencing the drawback. Corvus Glaive helps here by being another way to ramp when you need to. These decks may be able to produce good results during the location.

The next big winner during the location is The Hood. It will give you value while turning into a random 6-Cost card. Decks that use The Hood easily get the extra boost from the location while getting value from The Hood at the same time.

Here is the simple Thanos Lockjaw deck. On Ladder, this is still the best way to go because it can play into most other decks, it can be modified for your collection, and it gets the easiest boost from the location. We have been discussing this card in almost every article over the past two months, so there’s not much else to add on this one. If you want a good deck that benefits from the location, start here.

The Hood is one of the best cards for the location, so this deck includes The Hood and the strong Bounce package with Sentry. This gives you some game into the Hela and Thanos decks by some sometimes blocking locations, and you have enough reactionary cards and abilities to relocate your power for the later turns.

For this week’s attempt to do something more unique, here is a Ramp Electro deck that you can try. Here you have Electro for the location high roll as well as Proxima Midnight, Corvus Glaive, and Blade to discard cards for Hela. I also included She-Hulk for float plays and both Doctor Doom and Odin for when you can get them down on curve. You have lots of ways to spread power and lots of big cards to play.

Here you have a few cards for the location such as Iceman and Jubilee (the latter of which can be used to try and bring out your big cards). You also have strong Lockdown plays with Storm and Jessica Jones which will help you win lanes early and set up for the win on the final turns with your big cards.
