Will we be correct in our assessments?

6. U.S. Agent — 108 points

U.S. Agent was left in the absolute dust by the other cards this month, but I don’t think that he’s bad or that a bad card is being released this month. His problem is largely that he’s a 2-Cost that wants to be played late. An early Agent is easy for an opponent to avoid, but later on he’s fairly likely to be a [2/9] (and even just a [2/6] is a lot of stats). His use will be set by the prevalence of Luke Cage and smaller type decks like Sera that can take advantage of him, but it’s difficult to not see his low ranking as being punished for Man-Thing‘s sins. At two fewer cost, though, the card is simply much easier to use.

  • It’s tempting to invoke the Man-Thing, but Star-Lord is a better point of reference. Both can be played early if necessary, or later for a more reliable hit, but the Agent hits much harder, boasting a higher floor and an even higher ceiling. – Benjamin Roller
  • If you play this against me I’m laughing, I’m emoting, I’m snapping, and I’m playing Doctor Octopus in that lane, I’m playing Cull Obsidian in that lane, Magneto. I see this card, I know I’m not getting Shangd. – Macdonaldinho
  • His ability to make 4-, 5-, and 6-Cost cards -3 can be helpful, BUT it seems that Luke Cage will be in EVERY deck again with many of these new cards’ abilities, so his usefulness may not be too significant. – Shneerp
  • Reducing power is not that good as observed from Man-Thing. – Lewis Alphonsis
  • Will he make much of an impact? How many [4/6] cards usually go in a lane? Still, a [2/3] isn’t bad and a potential [2/15] is kind of nutty (Bar Sinister? That kind of makes him a [2/45]). – Phil Woodward

5. Baron Zemo — 189 points

The jump from U.S. Agent to Baron Zemo is startling. Few creators have Zemo high on their lists, but he still gains points in the middle of the pack for almost everyone.

Zemo is a well-balanced card. He both creates a new archetype and goes into plenty of decks while representing pretty good stats from a 3-drop. He can also backfire or be clunky or make it difficult to find a turn to play him. This is the lowest a Season Pass card has appeared on this list, and nearly a week of playing him suggests that it’s probably fairly accurate. He’s good and fun, but not great.

  • Could be the missing puzzle piece for a viable mill deck in Marvel Snap! – ComixFan
  • Hard to see this being too useful but I’m committed to making mill work (most anticipated card). – Interrobang
  • Inspires a Mill style of deck that would be the lynchpin card for that archetype. It looks like fun. – Denmanfalcon
  • I think Zemo is gonna be pretty good, especially since he discounts Mockingbird. – GetREKT
  • I think Baron Zemo is one of the weaker Season Pass cards we have had in a while. – KKSparkles
  • I think broadly though, Zemo opens up a new “thief” archetype even more than currently available. I’m thinking T1 Yondu, T2 Cable, T3 Zemo/Moon Knight etc etc. Highly annoying deck + hand deleted. – DevilishPlays
  • I am worried about Zemo’s ability to make mill decks more annoying, but we’ll just have to wait and see how things go! – FaThorNewman
  • Love it or hate it, mill is now an archetype in Snap. Yondu -> Cable -> Zemo -> Abs Man/Grandmaster and your opponent is out of deck by Turn 4. – TeddyNinja
  • Could create a new meta-relevant deck type (mill) plus he’s an amazing villain. – Snap Decisions

4. Red Guardian — 218 points

All the rankings here took place before the season and after the release video came out. That video did wonders for Red Guardian, showing his best case scenarios, but those are absolutely great. Things like wrecking Iron Man or Dracula is game winning.

Most decks have a good target for Red Guardian, whether it be Zabu or Angela, but some simple Squirrels can ruin it. Be wary, but this seems great, and kind of hilarious as a play before Junk or in Silver Surfer.

  • A silence for very powerful low-power cards like Wong, Dracula, or Iron Man, or a generic silence for any lone card as long as you have priority cannot be underestimated. – Romek
  • Red Guardian is tech card, he will be really good if there are cards to hit in the meta. Otherwise he could be useless… But it’s another tech card, so I’m happy! – Nitheal
  • Red Guardian is the only card that can counter the dreaded Dracula, and can snipe Deadpool or Multiple Man. As a generally useful tech card, this might end up being deceptively powerful. – MarsupialLion
  • A 3-Cost, targeted removal card with decent power. I think people are sleeping on the best card of the month, as usual. – Docty
  • The next best tech card in the game because it will only occupy one spot in your deck and counter every card in the game (played in tempo or reserved to specific cases just as Dracula, Iron Man, etc…). It will give SO much freedom at the moment to deck build that I think we will see a shift in the meta, or at least in how many decks are built. – Dubos
  • My most anticipated card. Very close with Valentina. Just looking forward to anti-tech shenanigans and can fit nicely into a Surfer List. – Gregor
  • They showed the uses in the season video, and it’s what sold me on this. Good tech. – Mottelz

3. Valentina — 235 points

This card has a ridiculous number of really great targets, and very few bad ones. The downside can be entirely mitigated by Luke Cage and the upside is game-winning.

The obvious home for this is Loki, where it just tosses Mirage right out of the meta. It’s at worst an extra card to Loki away there, and if you have Quinjet Turn 1 you can even curve into the 6-Cost card generated by Valentina on Turn 3.

  • This card may be Loki‘s new best friend. However, is strong enough to generate its own archetype. With Grand Master, Quinjet, and Luke Cage you can make two 6-Cost cards that cost four energy without power reductions. – Bohe
  • Loki eats, basic Dino stuff eats, just seems like a good card overall. – W
  • Highroll potential, early drop so we can plan around what we get. Also, we have Shadow King, Luke Cage for the power reduction. – den
  • She IS the [2/3] you’re taking away from the card she generates. Lots of the 6-Cost cards will be good at [-2/-3]. Paying for a card across multiple turns is just another type of discount — and discount is good. I’d have her higher if MMM weren’t such a meta presence, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. People love discountin’! – LaurenWhatevs
  • Oh hai there, Agatha! – ItJustRie
  • Valentina is going to be straight up busted. – Ika
  • TOO GOOD TOO FLEXIBLE, she’s insane prior to Turn 6. Goes into everything. – Minh

2. Red Hulk — 242 points

Red Hulk big number. Big numbers good. Good big numbers win lane. Red Hulk biggest numbers.

  • You will almost never play with a perfect energy curve, and on Turns 1 to 2, many decks generally don’t have cards to play. This will allow Red Hulk to grow very strong throughout the game, but even if by some miracle this does not happen — 11 power for 6 energy is still not little. – Kirallas
  • This is pure stats, one proc is 15 power, two is 19 power — one is enough and happens enough. Downside is large though. I have this #1 only because I have to have something, this month is really weak. — SafetyBlade
  • Red Hulk shows in hand when it gains power, like Apocalypse. It’s worse now. Easier to Retreat against. – LambySeries
  • I think Red Hulk will be the most playable card in any deck that’s why he gets my number one spot. – KingofCanada
  • Six (maybe seven) chances at boosting his power? Sign me up. – BitTwiddle
  • Too much power for very easy condition to meet, can go in so many decks. – NoBigDeal
  • Big card go brrrr. – Bradcifer

1. White Widow — 244 points

White Widow has much to speak for her. Her ability to clog an opponent’s board as a 2-Cost is great, even without the -4 power of the Ongoing. With Beast, Grand Master, or Absorbing Man, she can clog multiple spots. That clog can be ensured to give -4 power with various move cards like Cannonball or Spider-Man, or just amplified by Debrii, the Goblins, and Titania. Yes, this card is going to be frustrating, and apparently so frustrating that it was (barely) this month’s #1 card.

  • Super strong in clog decks and bounce decks too! – DottGeo
  • Even if Widow Kiss‘s Ongoing is countered, clogging one spot for 2-Cost will give Junk decks a HUGE boost. I’m getting her just for the chance of a Florence Pugh variant in the future <3. – Monroe Bieler
  • White Widow falls short only because it is inevitable that she is nerfed to a 3-Cost like her adoptive sister, Black Widow, to also justify Lizard‘s existence. – ItsGuestGaming
  • We gonna get messy with this one (Clutter days ahead). – DoeyKat
  • White Widow is going to be the hated card this month. – GunnyT
  • Two energy no downside Goblin is busted. – Revis
  • Gonna be annoying with Beast and clog decks. – Sizer
  • Junk without a downside is just good. – Paper
