It has been only 2 weeks since the end of the Pryde Before the Fall bundle, and we already have a new bundle containing a variant for a Series 5 card that can be used that can be used while you don’t have the base card. Let’s analyze how good it is for those who already have Black Knight and for those who don’t.
Guide
Assuming you already have Black Knight, for 5,000 Gold you will only get 4,000 Credits, which is 2,250 Credits less than if you simply bought them directly in the shop. At this price, it’s just a terrible deal.
Even if we consider the price of a variant not as 700 Gold as usual, but 1,200 (as a super rare variant) or 2,200 (as a Spotlight variant), the bundle is still very bad. Its contents are equivalent to 4,400 Gold and 5,400 Gold respectively, which is just significantly lower than any other bundles, as we will see later.
So the conclusion is this – for a player with Black Knight in their collection, this bundle definitely isn’t worth it, as it can hardly justify its price in Total Value, not to mention the terrible Progress Value that we all usually need.
Comparison With Other Bundles
And to confirm this, below is a comparison of this bundle’s Progress Value with other bundles: across all time since the introduction of Spotlight Caches, among all unique Gold bundles, and also among Gold bundles in the same price category over the last 12 months.
The charts show that the bundle is the worst of all in terms of Progress Value with its 64.4%, setting a new negative record! The previous worst bundle was Oh No, He’s Hot!!! with a Progress Value of 83.8%.
A similar situation is, of course, observed when comparing the bundle by the number of new Series 5 cards for a player with an almost complete collection per 700 Gold. It’s the worst on record with a value of 0.05.
What if you don’t have Black Knight?
If we consider the option where you don’t have the Black Knight and would like to obtain it (which is also important), then the bundle gains a substantial 225% Progress Value!
This is especially good compared to getting a Series 4 card as with Pryde Before the Fall because even if a Series Drop happens soon, there’s a high chance the Black Knight will drop to Series 4, but not lower. This means it will still hold increased value even for players who have completed Series 3.
As you might guess, in such a scenario, the bundle is significantly above others and becomes a must-buy when compared to what we usually get in terms of numbers.
And if you look at the statistics since the introduction of Spotlight Caches, the bundle becomes approximately twice the average value in terms of the number of Series 5 cards for a player with an almost complete collection.
The Usefulness Of The Variant In The Meta
So, as I mentioned earlier, you can use the Black Knight variant instead of a base card. Therefore, it makes sense to consider how much value such a purchase would add in terms of meta decks. This will also be useful for veterans who might really want to get a variant to use in their favorite deck.
Black Knight is a very strong card in the discard archetype with Hela or Ghost Rider. Below are two powerful decks that perform especially well in the meta.
And although the version with Agatha is quite new and experimental, it is already performing well and can be a fun yet strong option.
Unfortunately, for players with a low collection level, it’s not possible to fully realize the potential of the Black Knight. Besides Series 3 cards like Hela and high-power cards, Luke Cage, also a Series 3 card, is very much needed. If you already have this set, you can likely almost make the first deck mentioned above.
Conclusion
Thus, the bundle is an absolute no-no for those who already have the Black Knight and are looking to get additional value from the bundle. There’s none here; it’s unlikely you’ll find a worse bundle for you.
For those who don’t have the Black Knight, it’s worth considering – it’s a strong Series 5 card, and purchasing the bundle could be a great way to shorten the path to obtaining it. But that’s assuming you really want to get it and won’t leave it sitting in your collection for many months.
Without the potential to get a free Series 5 card, it would certainly be 0.5 stars, but since the chance to play with Black Knight earlier than usual will be relevant for some percentage of players, I rate it 1.5 and no more, as this is quite an unusual case, especially with the recently nerfed Hela. But if you are among those who want to go down this path, definitely 5 out of 5 stars.
