The OTA nuked Stryfe‘s best friend, which naturally hurt the stock of the season pass card a ton. A day removed from the update, the 4-cost still sees play in a few archetypes, but clearly doesn’t represent as big of a threat. Once the new season kicks off, it is quite likely Stryfe will disappear, until new On Reveal abilities worth copying are added to Marvel Snap.
Storm Horseman of Famine took a slight hit in the OTA, with the Master of the Sun losing one power. It is not enough to make the 5-cost a bad card, but Storm Horseman of Famine isn’t flexible enough to afford losing one of her key pairings. Fortunately, it seems like the 3-cost is quite good alongside the other new card Mother Askani, although those decks aren’t refined yet.

Stryfe Performance

Stryfe was already losing momentum heading into the OTA, as the metagame featured a lot of cards designed to contain its synergy with Fin Fang Foom. Following the OTA, and the huge nerf to the 7-cost card, Stryfe is posting catastrophic numbers. Most likely, the card will either disappear for a while, or should end the season looking for new cards to be paired with.

Storm Horseman of Famine

Similarly to most buff oriented cards before her, Storm Horseman of Famine is posting much better numbers in the ranks below infinite rather than at the top of the ladder. The reasons are always the same:
- There is more disruption in the higher ranks, meaning combo oriented decks are more likely to be countered when they snap.
- If the counter isn’t in your opponent’s deck, they will retreat for one cube. On the other hand, players not trying to grind the ladder might stay for the sake of curiosity, or because they also have a synergy they want to develop.
Overall, Storm Horseman of Famine is a fine card to help you increase a deck’s points potential even more. However, don’t expect the card to help with priority, or other flexible aspects of Marvel Snap.

Bonus Challenge Decks
We aren’t even a day removed from the OTA, so these decks and the metagame are bound to evolve, maybe just disappear when May’s season kicks off. It is also possible these archetypes remain, but Stryfe or Storm Horseman of Famine aren’t included anymore.
This second option is quite likely for Stryfe, who lost a ton of appeal with Fin Fang Foom heavily nerfed. The card still makes sense in On Reveal decks, but doesn’t look like an important piece anymore, rather a fine 4-cost in case our intended progression was not available.
Storm Horseman of Famine makes more sense in her builds, but isn’t versatile at all. Indeed, only the Surfer archetype is running the 3-cost over the past day, so the fortune of the card looks tied to that particular strategy. Fortunately, it is a flexible one, so one can build it to fit their own preferences.
