Stature Theorycraft, Strategies and Decklists: Can Stature Save Some of Marvel Snap’s Worst Cards?
Table of Contents
When anybody talks about a “discard” archetype, everybody understands the same thing: tossing away cards from our own hand to activate some powerful effects. In Marvel Snap, Morbius, Dracula, Apocalypse, Hela, and MODOK should immediately come to mind.
Well, you might want to reconsider what discard means in Marvel Snap; Stature joins Marvel Snap as a Series 5 card on February 21, 2023, and she might bring a whole new meaning to the archetype.

If we only talk about flavor, Stature would be considered a great card. She pushes a whole new way of playing and might even give Disruptive decks a way to develop some points for cheap, similar to what Miles Morales does for the Move archetype. Still, if we take a look at the handful of cards available that activate her ability, one could quickly begin to wonder if Stature has any shot at being picked up for 6,000 Collector’s Tokens (at least for the next 2 months).
Let’s take a look at what can be done with Stature, and how we can build decks to maximize her strengths.
Synergies and Gameplay
There are two big categories of cards to consider playing with Stature, both linked to the Discard synergy:
- Cards with an ability that forces your opponent to discard something:

- Cards that benefit from Moon Knight‘s discard:

This reveals the problem with Stature right now, and the reason it’s difficult to consider her worth the 6,000 tokens: there aren’t a ton of options to surround the card in a cohesive deck.
Of course, she does create a nice package alongside Moon Knight and Black Bolt. They form a cohesive trio that disrupts the opponent in addition to packing some explosive power. At the end of the day, Black Bolt is an eight power card enabling a seven power card for one energy on the next turn. This is a total of fifteen power for six energy, with five left to work with on turn six. Considering the amount of solid cards to play for five or less energy on the last turn of the game (like Aero, Shang-Chi, or even Valkyrie), I’m sure you can find something good to play with Stature.
From this angle, the last two turns of the game for a Stature deck are looking pretty locked, with Black Bolt on five and Stature plus something on six. Now we have to answer the big question: what are we doing with the rest of the game?
Archetypes to Try With Stature
Because Stature works best in a three card package, we aren’t looking to build an entire deck around the card. Rather, we want to find decks with enough room to play Stature, Black Bolt, and Moon Knight without throwing the balance of the archetype off.
First on the list is just a good cards deck with several small combos to abuse in order to create a nice turn six:
- Shuri into Black Bolt opens for Taskmaster and Stature on turn six.
- Zabu opens Wong on turn three, which we can follow up with Moon Knight and Iceman to dismantle the opponent’s hand, and Black Bolt can also follow on turn five.
- If we’re going to discard with Moon Knight, we might as well include the Colleen Wing + Swarm duo.
- Aero and Shang-Chi are just solid cards to include, and they should pair well enough with Stature on turn six.
Although I doubt Lockjaw will ditch Thanos or Thor for Stature, the card’s archetype represents really well what we would be looking for as a flexible win condition to include the Stature package with. Lockjaw also proved to work perfectly with Swarm in the past, and summoning Black Bolt or Stature is not bad considering their high power.
Another way to build such a deck would be to include the Lady Sif and Ghost Rider duo to represent another route toward cheating big cards early. Being ahead by turn five should make Black Bolt into Stature + Aero a pretty good pattern for the last two turns.
When it comes to a flexible deck that’s able to include a small amount of cards easily, one needs to include Devil Dinosaur in the discussion. In this deck, I decided to leave Moon Knight out for the obvious anti synergy with Devil Dinosaur, but Moon Girl might be able to replenish our hand enough for it to be worth in the end.
Otherwise, this deck has a plethora of good five cost cards we can pair with Stature on turn six, ranging from Devil Dinosaur himself to any six cost card we got with White Queen that’s been discounted by Quinjet.
Closing Words
Although the card itself seems quite good, Stature suffers from a lack of flexibility when it comes to the cards we need to play to support her. Granted, it doesn’t take more than Black Bolt or Moon Knight to make it the best 1-cost card in the game. Considering, however, that both cards don’t see any serious play and that Stature is awful if we don’t draw into either of them during the match, it’s tough to pull the trigger and purchase Stature.
Overall, I would consider Stature a fine pull out of a lucky Collector’s Cache since she opens otherwise unplayable cards and play patterns. I wouldn’t recommend that anyone spend their hard earned Collector’s Tokens to get this week’s new card, though. Sorry.

Excellent article for a mediocre card. This article highlights the problem with Snap’s trickle down philosophy. Stature is a series 3 card. It will be fun in 4 months, maybe.
Personally, I don’t see the advantage of Moon Knight in the good cards example. You have to have Stature in hand to make it worth it and you risk discarding that card. Colleen + Swarm is the best 2 cost combo, so that is fine in any deck but this does highlight Stature punishes your opponent from doing that trick.
If Snap comes out with a card that your next card is played on the opponent’s side, there could be some fun. That card on 4, Modok on 5 then icing on the cake is you get to play your Stature while they topdeck their only play on 6.
Anytime in the game, not like Miles which needs to be last turn. Now I am good with Moon Knight.
