Welcome back to our new weekly series Cache-ing In! Each week, we break down what cards will be available in the new Spotlight Caches, as well as the Spotlight Variants! The goal is to help you determine if you should “Cache in” for the content, or hoard for a better week.
Spotlight Cache Week of November 1, 2023
This week, the featured cards will be the new card Werewolf By Night, as well as Silk and Ghost-Spider!
Werewolf By Night

Our final new card of this year’s spooky season is Werewolf By Night! He is a 3-Cost, 3-Power card with the ability “After you play an On Reveal card at another location, move there and gain +2 Power.” This card is not only a unique concept, but may help push move decks into the meta.
One important thing to note with this card is according to developer Glenn on the official Q/A Discord, Werewolf will only gain power if he moves there. So if you move him with Ghost Spider, he won’t gain his +2 power because he has nowhere new to move to. This also means triggering multiple on reveals at the same location with Wong or Odin will not grow Werewolf multiple times.
While Werewolf could slot into a variety of decks, I think his strongest two decks will be Move and Bounce based. The move deck is pretty self explanatory: You play a good amount of On Reveal cards in a Move deck, so this let’s you move multiple targets around the board instead of just one. Kraven can also grow from the extra movement, and not have his filled so easily since Werewolf can switch lanes fairly easy.
Werewolf might bring Heimdall back to the foreground of Move decks, since his On Reveal can shift your move targets like Human Torch, Multiple Man, and Dagger, but then have Werewolf move to Heimdall‘s location to help contest multiple lanes.
If you aren’t utilizing Werewolf’s movement ability, you are using as many on reveals as you can to buff him. Bounce is the perfect candidate for that, since your goal in bounce is to get multiple triggers on your low cost cards. You can set up the board with 1 and 2 cost cards like Hawkeye and Medusa, play Werewolf on turn 3, then bounce your setup with Beast or Falcon on turn 4.
The Bounce cards are On Reveal so Werewolf will trigger, then dumping your hand with On Reveals will send Werewolf across the board both gaining power and making it hard for your opponent to play a counter like Shadow King or Shang-Chi. The biggest trick with this deck will be plating your On Reveal cards in strategic locations to ensure Werewolf gets his movement buffs.
Overall, I don’t think Werewolf By Night will be as strong of a card as Nico Minoru is, but he has potential to push move decks and bounce decks to a new level. Since On Reveals are common among many top tier decks, perhaps Werewolf will find a home in a different style of deck as well.
Silk

Seeing her second Spotlight appearance, Silk joins the movement cache this week. This card is one that initially was slept on, but soon became a powerful tool for Angela + Kraven decks. With the latest OTA nerfing both Elsa and Angela, the decks Silk saw the most play in took a big power hit. With such recent changes, it remains to be seen how powerful these decks still are despite the nerfs.
Although Angela isn’t as strong, the Kraven and Silk synergy remains incredibly strong. Silk‘s ability to move constantly in and out of Kraven‘s lane makes the two cards a perfect duo. Combine this with other move cards like Spider-Man, Jeff the Baby Land Shark, Vision, and Nightcrawler, you can move your power all over the board and leave your opponent guessing where final power will truly land.
For a less meta take on Silk, you can also use her in Cerebro 5! Her movement can help reposition power where you need it, or gain access to restricted locations like Sanctum Sanctorum or Flooded. Her movement also triggers Miles Morales each time she changes lanes, which can help to throw down extra power at an efficient cost.
Silk is definitely a solid card with a lot of utility. She is a card that may require some practice with so you don’t accidentally lock yourself out of a lane. If you do, your opponent can simply ignore the location until the last turn and have an easier time securing that location.
Ghost-Spider

Since her release, Ghost-Spider has evolved past being just a Move deck card. Her utility comes in handy in numerous decks to not only move power efficiently, but also counter against tech cards by moving combo pieces out of Armor or Cosmo lanes.
Last week, Ghost-Spider was featured in
If Ghost-Spider‘s inclusion in multiple decks isn’t enough of an indicator, this is a solid card for movement. While she currently doesn’t see much play in top tier meta decks, it’s still a great card to have in your collection.
Spotlight Variants
If you already own the card the Spotlight cache offers, one of these variants will take it’s place! If you own none of the cards, the variants will appear after you open all 4 caches. Spotlight variants are time exclusive to their release week, with no estimated time on when they will be available again. So if any of these Spotlight variants feel like a must have for you, make sure to Cache In if you have enough caches saved to guarantee the pull.
This Nightforged variant is by Snap’s seemingly new favorite artist AIDA, who has been featured a lot both last season and this season.
This Silk variant comes from artist In-hyuk Lee, who has many popular variants in the game. One of those other popular variants is the community voted Human Torch variant!
Everyone is familiar with Skottie Young’s famous baby variants. This week, Ghost-Spider launches her baby variant in this Spotlight Cache.
Should I Cache In?
This week, all 3 cards are Series 5 and currently have no planned Spotlight releases after this week for the remainder of the year. Both Silk and Ghost-Spider see meta play, and Werewolf By Night definitely has potential.
My recommendation this week is to Cache In. Werewolf has a lot of potential and may open up new deck ideas. His supporting cards are also solid this week, making any pull a good one. If you already have Silk and Ghost-Spider, you may wait and see how the meta responds to Werewolf to make sure he is worth possibly spending 4 caches on. If you don’t have any of the 3, this is a great week to collect 3 Series 5 cards in one go, especially since they won’t be available again for a while.
