Snap Judgments Deck of the Day: The Strange Supreme Cook!

Good morning all! I’m back at Marvel Snap Zone with a deck of the day: a top deck for you to try out! My aim for this article is to get you in and out quickly and give you something new to play every day along with the tools to do well with it. Check out the video for a verbal explanation of this and three other new decks.

I don’t have super high hopes for Strange Supreme, He seems like a card you can set and forget on turn 2, a good card that can grow to be a real force. If there’s enough junk or clog in the meta, and you have some incidental cards to help with that, I can easily see him being pretty good. Clog was just #1 on Den’s Tier List and it made my Top 10 decks, so this release should absolutely handle that problem.

But I don’t think he’s necessarily a build-around. If he is, it’s going to require some fairly specific play patterns and his biggest problem is Mockingbird, who in the decks that want Strange is a 1 or 2-9. There’s a lot of value in Strange Supreme likely being bigger than that, but he sits on the board, a huge target for Shang Chi or Shadow King, while she’s a surprise cube stealer. Still, Thanos and Cook decks have to at least take a look at a 2 that can scale to this extent.

Okay, this one.

Barzy created this as an archetype around last Summer, and though he’s moved on from Marvel Snap, the deck persists.

The general strategy is simple, here. Play Hope on 3 and Gwenpool on 4 if you can. Turn 5 is Mysterio with whatever else possible. That should lead to a 3-Cost Mockingbird (2 with Sam’s shield), and a nearly free Sasquatch. It’s a huge power spike that wins games. For this strategy, it’s worth noting that a single hit from Gwenpool turns Mysterio into a 2-10.

There’s also a reasonable Galacta/Gwenpool strategy with Brood and Mister Sinister since both amplify any buffs they receive. Since the latter two cards also make Mockingbird cheaper, these strategies could go together reasonably well, but board space is an issue.

Enter Strange Supreme. If he’s going to be the centerpiece of a deck, this should be it.
