Sleeper Decks of the Week – The New MMM – Ms. Marvel Meta

In this week's Sleeper Decks: Ms. Marvel Is so strong, Sandman Thanos, and more!

Hello everyone and welcome to Sleeper Decks of the Week! I’m Glazer of Snap Judgments: The Official Marvel Snap Zone Podcast, and in this article, I’m going to take you through all of my favorite Sleeper Decks this week. In addition to the podcast (this week’s episode goes over the new Season with Dmoney and Zeee3_!), I do my own daily videos where I scour the darkest corners of the net (ahem Twitter and the various Marvel Snap sites) to find the best decks in Marvel Snap before the meta notices.

Remember: Each deck title will take you to a video explanation of the deck, so don’t be shy – check them out!

Ms. Marvel Is So Strong!

Ms. Marvel releases after the broken and nerfed Season Pass cards Loki and Elsa Bloodstone. She’s not quite as busted as those cards, but she is extremely powerful nonetheless.

Deck Thoughts:

Thus far, this has been my favorite of the Ms. Marvel decks. Echo, Jean Grey, Nebula, and Negasonic Teenage Warhead all give amazing control over where and how the opponent gets to play their cards, while Doctor Doom, Spectrum, Jeff the Baby Land Shark. and, naturally, Ms. Marvel all help you go wide. Super-Skrull is the counter card of choice in this meta while Iron Man gives you the option to go tall.

This deck is ridiculously expensive though, with five Series 5 cards two more in Series 4, and the current Season Pass card. If you’re missing Jean, Zabu, and Negasonic, there’s no point in really playing this, though Jubilee can replace Iron Lad, Nightcrawler and Iceman can be Echo and Nebula or Jeff. There are more affordable deck options down below.

Deck Thoughts:

This deck has been everywhere since W made it. His decks are always top-notch and can be piloted well by players of varying skill levels while still offering a great reward for high level play.

This deck wins by locking down locations using Storm and Professor X, and when there’s only one free location, Alioth is extremely overpowered. The Storm and Professor X lanes can even be won with minimal commitment thanks to cards like Nebula, Jeff, Mister Fantastic, and Ms. Marvel.

That middle location gets extra oomph through Medusa being in the deck – she’s still one of the most underrated cards in Snap. Gamora helps you go tall, while Doctor Doom spreads his Doombots everywhere, and every card really synergizes. Daredevil is bugged right now, showing where but not what is played, but with Professor X and Gamora, where is all you really need to know.

Jeff can be Nightcrawler here, but Professor X decks are where that change really hurts. If Nebula is changed here, it’s likely for Sunspot – you want to threaten them for committing to a lane, leaving them unsure on the lane’s final power. Iron Lad can be replaced by Jubilee or Shang-Chi… or Klaw.

Deck Thoughts:

Old friend HowlingMines came up with this beauty of a deck.

The idea here is very simple – Darkhawk and Typhoid Mary let you go tall for cheap while Ms. Marvel and Klaw go wide. The rest of the cards support these packages with Zabu being like a good rug and really tying the room together.

I played this deck a lot and ended up making a few changes. America Chavez replaced Ant Man because the deck really badly wants to see Zabu and Luke Cage. I then replaced Spectrum with Doom, as I found that Spectrum was rarely giving me more than 2-4 per lane, and Doom’s guaranteed 5 was worth more.

You’ll need Zabu and Darkhawk for this deck to work.

Deck Thoughts:

With Loki still among the best decks, Dera decided to make his Ms. Marvel deck that he hit Infinite with a Sandman list. Adding 5 to each lane is extremely powerful when one card per turn is the rule, and better still, with Doctor Doom, ten per lane is perfectly achievable even without Ramp for Sandman.

There are still other ways to win here, too, as Professor X locking a lane early is one of the most powerful plays in the game. From there, your opponent is left gambling by playing around both Alioth and Orka. Either play can be game-winning, but the cards that beat one rarely work for both. The early game is dedicated to power, and that’s the basic deck!

Jeff is very important here, but Nightcrawler does an okay-ish impression. Nebula would have to be Nightcrawler, too, but Iceman is good. Iron Lad can be Jubilee and without Alioth, you can try Leader.

Deck Thoughts:

Stellar player and guest on this week’s podcast episode Zeee decided to go all in on Ongoing with her Ms. Marvel deck. With Echo and Cosmo for protection, Jean can allow Ant-Man and Mojo to go from nice bumps to absolute lane winners, especially with Spectrum as a backup.

Klaw, Professor X, and Jeff the Baby Land Shark add another package that can steal a lane while Orka is often a package to himself, with opponents assuming a lane is abandoned only to suddenly be facing a 16+ power force there.

This one is expensive, as Jean is what makes Mojo good, but you can cut that package and run cards like Colossus. Echo could be another Ongoing card, too, like Luke Cage.

Sandman, Thanos, and Sandman Thanos

Thanos remains a meta force, though Loki still eats its lunch. We’ve seen new builds thrive. Sandman is one of the few decks that can beat Loki (though it’s not super consistent), so it’s not a huge surprise to see these cards combined this week.

Deck Thoughts:

TheHumanSpider, one of the best players in the world, constantly makes Thanos Lockjaw decks that perform at a high level. This one adds in Sandman for Loki and bounce matches… unsurprisingly, the deck works.

This deck combines the idea of the Sandman Ms. Marvel deck that Dera played with the classic version of Thanos. This deck doesn’t lock a lane with Professor X – instead, it uses Lockjaw and Wave to cheat out big cards. The current Wave is especially good for this, as 5 power is pretty good, and with it on turn 5, you get another card into Lockjaw and then can play a big card on 6 and keep putting cards into Lockjaw.

Sandman can be played this way, just popping out of Jaw, or cheated by a turn 3 Wave or Time Stone, and Vision and Doctor Doom give you really good play in those games. Also powerful? Magneto does an amazing job of ruining an opponent’s Ms. Marvel.

Jeff is probably needed here since he gets around Sandman, but everything else is Series 3

If you want a turn-by-turn on how to play the deck, check the video linked in the title.

Deck Thoughts:

Quinee has taken a different track to Sandman, foregoing ramp and instead making sure that there’s enough early power to take the tempo hit of Sandman on turn 5. The move package can allow for The Human Torch, Dagger, and Werewolf By Night to gain enough power that Sandman locks the opponent out of competing.

At that point, the opponent has a problem, as Heimdall or Magneto are extremely hard to play around with only one card available.

Werewolf By Night is a must here, and this deck is hard to run without Ghost-Spider.

Deck Thoughts:

Revis is one of the most underrated builders and brewers in Marvel Snap, as evidenced here by a deck that has no business working as well as it does.

This is a triple high roll deck. You can get Mister Negative out, cheating him early with Psylocke or Time Stone, and use draw to see extra negative cards. You can also get Lockjaw out to cheat out big power, or you can go the classic route of Professor X and Alioth scam. You essentially always have one of the combos, and when you do, the deck just pops off.

Alioth can be the Leader here, and Jeff is fine as Nightcrawler or, if you have her, Nico Minoru.

Check the vid for the play-by-play.

Deck Thoughts:

Bastriot is one of my favorite decks ever in Marvel Snap, and Ema, a top-10-ranked player in the game, has seemingly brought it back!

This one is pretty simple – it uses Bast to cheat out a bunch of cards that have way more power than they’re supposed to – cards like Mysterio and Mystique, and then pumps them with Patriot. When that isn’t enough, Valkyrie chops the opponent down to size, and we have a long-forgotten great deck back in the meta – one that only requires Series 3 cards!

I run Iron Man over Blue Marvel in mine.

You know the drill – turn by turn in the link above.

Deck Thoughts:

A week later, this secret deck from Teledadmon still has a nearly 70% win rate.

This is bounce disruption with Black Widow and Korg mucking up the opponent’s draw and Spider-Ham ruining the plans the opponent had for their hand. Shadow King handles anything out of control on board, while Bast makes your hand significantly better.

The game winners are Darkhawk and Werewolf By Night, both of whom get huge in the deck, especially thanks to the bouncing cards. If you can get each going, opponents will have a problem matching your power with their broken-down hands and stopped draws.

You do need Darkhawk and Werewolf for this deck, then. Spider-Ham is important, too, but can be replaced by Iceman.

Deck Thoughts:

Black Knight is seriously underrated as just a Hela card. If you don’t believe me based on this deck, head over to my channel for the video today and another great build using the card.

This deck abuses Black Knight while also utilizing the power of Zabu to cheat out the high-powered Ebony Blade and Dracula to discard something huge from hand. The beauty if it is that Zabu makes two of the most important tech cards in the game – Shang-Chi and Enchantress far easier to fit into the curve, too.

America Chavez makes it more likely you see these pieces, and Legion gives you room to operate, especially with Storm everywhere right now. This is such a powerful deck!

You can try Sera, Vision, or Aero for Legion in this deck. You need Black Knight, though. The rest is Series 3!
