Sleeper Decks of the Week – A New Meta with Sera and Move!?

Check out the best Marvel Snap decks in this column before they become popular in the meta! There are a lot of awesome decks waiting to be discovered that can take your opponent's Cubes by surprise!

Hello everyone and welcome to Sleeper Decks of the Week! I’m Glazer of Snap Judgments: The Official Marvel Snap Zone Podcast, and in this article, I’m going to take you through all of my favorite Sleeper Decks this week. In addition to the podcast (this week’s episode has a breakdown of all the new card and Spotlights of the Planet Hulk Season, the Leaks of the Patch Notes, and the Marvel Snap Roadmap ft. Jessnapz, Phil Woodard, and themaster_not), I do my own daily videos where I scour the darkest corners of the net (ahem Twitter and the various Marvel Snap sites) to find the best decks in Marvel Snap before the meta notices.

Remember: Each deck title will take you to a video explanation of the deck, so don’t be shy – check them out!

Sera

With Blob reigned in by OTA, Sera has reclaimed her spot atop the game.

Deck Thoughts:

W is one of the best and most original deck builders in Marvel Snap, and this is his take on the Revis deck that took the meta by storm last Season.

Zabu or Medusa into Werewolf By Night, Killmonger, Iron Lad, or Gladiator provide tempo to lead into a Sera play. From there, either Doctor Doom and a 2 – Shadow King and Maximus work – or a bunch of tech like Shang-Chi and Enchantress go amazingly with the aforementioned 2s. It’s simple in theory, slightly harder to pilot, but it’s absolutely one of the top decks in the game.

Gladiator is replaceable by a card like Polaris. Zabu is a must, but Iron Lad can be Stegron, Super-Skrull, or White Queen. Without Werewolf, you need Ms. Marvel, and there’s not really another option.

Deck Thoughts:

N8Biz, a top 100 player, came up with a brilliant idea to combine Loki with Sera. This is simple – if you get Zabu and Sera, you play a Sera Miracle deck – the same as the last deck in this article. If you get draw cards and Loki, you instead play those and play the opponent’s cards more efficiently. Zabu goes great with both strategies – he makes Loki 3 or the other 4s cost 2 with Sera. From there, wins are easy!

Ms. Marvel can switch with Werewolf by Night, but not much else. Snowguard can be Maria Hill, and Mirage can be a Sentinel. Gladiator can be Polaris or Scarlet Witch. You’ll need Loki and Zabu.

Hercules

A week after his release, a nerf to Blob and a buff to Hercules (and Dagger) later – move is the best it’s ever been!

Deck Thoughts:

Marvel Snap Zone’s genius deck builder SafetyBlade has one of the best Phoenix Force decks I’ve ever played.

This is all in with The Phoenix Force – eat Multiple Man, Human Torch, or Dagger. Make one of them be a Phoenix – ideally Human Torch unless the opponent is playing destroy. At that point, protect it with Caiera or make it silly huge with Hercules. Drop The Living Tribunal. Profit.

You need The Living Tribunal and The Phoenix Force. Ghost-Spider can be Iron Fist. Hercules can be Cloak or Doctor Strange. Caiera would be Armor, and Iron Lad is a good change for any of these if you have them.

Deck Thoughts: Fin Snap hit top 30 with what amounts to a 50% win rate but a huge cube rate. I know there’s no Hercules here, but the deck still works.

In exchange for the extra move and Living Tribunal, this deck runs a Shuri and Nimrod package. There’s a natural overlap here with The Phoenix Force since both need destroy cards. The rest of The Phoenix Force package is essentially the same.

This was created prior to Dagger‘s buff and she could easily replace Nico Minoru if you’d like! Nimrod and Phoenix are musts, though. Remember, this deck won’t win a ton, but with good snapping, you’ll still climb.

Deck Thoughts:

Chaos Pro is a stellar YouTuber who built The Phoenix Force combo deck without The Phoenix Force.

This deck is about getting a huge Human Torch or Dagger. It can accomplish either with a plethora of move cards – from Cloak to Ghost-Spider, but reusing these cards with the bounce package is where the power really comes from. Moving cards multiple times, especially with Hercules in the deck is absolutely huge power. The deck can win through this, but when it doesn’t one extra huge card with Tribunal will do the trick.

You can do without Hercules or Ghost-Spider by adding in Multiple Man or Nico Minoru. There’s no Living Tribunal replacement.

Quake Time!

With her recent rework, Quake is still finding new and interesting homes in Marvel Snap, especially in decks that control locations.

Deck Thoughts:

ZalSnap simplified location control to its barest parts. Storm is often a game-winning card, and Zal built a Storm deck that abuses both Legion and Quake to make the most of a flooded location. Of course, without either of those cards, either Cyclops or The Thing can claim flooded wins. This deck wins that way, then claims another lane with an Evolved Hulk. The 1-cost trio of Sunspot, Misty Knight, and Nebula steal lanes and cause huge problems, and Caiera protects it all.

This deck has several possible changes. You’ll need Evolutionary, but Legion can be Vision or Aero. Nebula works fine as Nightcrawler, too. Caiera can be Armor.

Deck Thoughts:

A southeast Asian tournament took place right before the OTA, and 7 of the top 8 decks were Thanos Lockjaw. This deck, that holds up surprisingly well post-patch, was the exception.

Storm is a more straightforward card here without Legion, but Juggernaut, Quake, Doctor Doom, Nebula, and Jeff all make it easy to win. Adding in Magik and Magneto, it’s very easy to clog the opponent, leaving them no board space to play since they’re incentivized to play on Nebula and the flooded location is likely to move to a space you’ve played, but their commitment is minimal. From that point, Magneto takes out the last location, and the win is all but guaranteed.

Nebula is needed for this deck, but Jeff can be Nightcrawler. This is very cheap for such a strong deck.

Deck Thoughts:

Keen Koala, our friend who hit Infinite with Quake every season even before the buff, is at it again.

This deck uses a move package to synergize with Storm, who is joined again by Legion and Quake. Those cards with the added scaling of Kraven and control of Aero, fundamentally guarantee a Storm lane most games.

From there, control and move cards are intended to close out the game. If the opponent wants to go big, you have Shang-Chi, while Killmonger handles when they go wide. And, of course, there’s Magneto.

Hercules is a little strange here- just a big body to protect the Storm lane from movement, and he may be better as one of the Marvels – Ms. or Captain. Silk or Jeff is needed, though Nightcrawler could replace one. I wouldn’t play this without Legion.

Here are just some great decks to try that didn’t fit into any other category.

Deck Thoughts:

Desmond is an absolute killer of a deck builder, coming through with meta deck after meta deck.

I’ll be honest – I don’t think much of Miek outside of this type of shell – standard discard – and in this shell, he’s only solid, not great. This is a very straightforward build. It has Dracula for the turn 6 MODOK play, but will often prefer to use Silver Samurai to discard Dracula and play Swarms with Apocalypse to end the game.

The rest is self-explanatory – Gambit early takes out priority targets like Zabu, Colleen Wing gets out Wolverine or Swarm, Daken is just good stats, and Lady Sif helps your Apocalypse be huge. And, naturally, Mobius is great. This list is strong, and in it, Miek is fine.

If you don’t have Miek, go Nebula or Blade. Silver Samurai is great in this deck, but Hell Cow is fine to replace him. Daken can be Storm, but don’t play discard without MODOK.

Ika Medium Dumb Idiots

Deck Thoughts:

Ika is one of my favorite deck-builders in Snap and makes this list nearly every week.

Here, he has a deck that abuses our Season Pass card, Skaar. With Attuma (on Armor) and Ronan, Skaar will often cost two to end the game. A two-cost Skaar allows for an end-game that includes Shadow King and Maximus. That’s the gist here, but the deck has other tricks.

Blob can be huge with very few cards in the deck and nearly everything having a lot of power. Cosmo can ruin a ton of opponents’ days in this meta, as can Armor with destroy suddenly everywhere. Gladiator is big and Nebula demands answers.

Blob is needed for this version of the deck, though if you’re feeling feisty, you can try Destroyer. Skaar is a must-have, but Gladiator can, as always, be Polaris. Nebula is fine as any good one – I’m partial to Iceman.
