Table of Contents
We aren’t even a day removed from the OTA, but the early result point at Shou-Lao the Undying still being the top card to build around in Marvel Snap. At least, the impact of the update led to a variety of archetypes to be tested.
Among the promising newcomers are a Ramp deck with Doctor Doom 2099 or a variety of Aurora decks trying to build around Shang-Chi, Master of the Rings. Neither concept is comparing to Flexible Move nor the Activate Buff deck, both using Shou-Lao the Undying as a flexible source of points, but it was a good attempt.
These new builds probably have the ability to compete in terms of points, but they lack a lot of flexibility to bring the same amount of cubes as these decks able to pick which location they want to compete for on the last turn of play.
The issue wasn’t just how many points Shou-Lao the Undying brougth to the table. It was also the fact it can chose the table until the very last moment.
| Mission | # | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Play 2-Cost Cards | 15 | 150 Credits |
| Win with Shang-Chi, Master of the Rings starting in your Deck | 4 | 200 Collector’s Tokens |
| Win with Shou-Lao the Undying starting in your Deck | 8 | 150 Gold |
Shang-Chi, Master of the Rings Performance

Shang-Chi, Master of the Rings sees a lot of play since the OTA went live, with mixed results so far.
The main issue for the 3-cost is the fact it doesn’t belong to a specific synergy except alongside Wiccan. In that context, Shang-Chi, Master of the Rings will see play in a variety of decks as part of the various cards tested in that archetype. As a result, unless he makes it to the final, refined list, Shang-Chi, Master of the Rings will be part of the testing period, typically associated with weaker results.

Shou-Lao Performance

The dominance Shou-Lao showed before the OTA is gone for the moment, with the season pass only representing a great performer rather than a problem. However, it will be interesting to see if the metrics following the OTA will stabilize, or pick up as more players realize Shou-Lao remains a very playable card, even as a [5/6].
Stay tuned for the Tier List.

Bonus Challenge Decks
About 15 hours after the OTA, the best five decks in the game featured three different builds around Shou-Lao. Safe to say the OTA probably targeted the right cards, but could have been a little harsher.
At least, the missions related to the season pass card will once again be quite simple to complete.
When it comes to Shang-Chi, Master of the Rings, the best bet remains Wiccan at the moment. There are some Aurora decks, but the best ones have very little games under their belt, and the performance tends to drop once they reach more than 50 matches recorded.
