Alright, here’s a new bundle! This time it’s for those who value Credits more than Tokens. So let’s take a closer look.
Well… As you can see the bundle is basically identical to the Locked and Very Loaded bundle that came out less than a month ago. 0.92 Tokens per Gold is a pretty good result. At the same time a Progress Value of 112% raises some concerns, since even 500 more Credits would boost the bundle way up, and a value like this one pulls the bundle down.
In particular the direct competitor to this bundle – Booster Packs offer much more value for a lower price and there doesn’t seem to be much reason to hoard so much Gold, it’s easier to buy Booster Packs and not worry, except when you have a large excess of Gold.
Comparison With Other Bundles
The charts below show exactly what I’m talking about. In terms of Progress Value the bundle isn’t very inspiring, since it’s barely at the average or falls far below it regardless of the comparison criteria.
On the most important metric – Total Tokens per Gold – the bundle performs slightly better and is barely above average. As the charts show – only some other bundles at the same price are better than the Punch First Protocol bundle. At the same time other cheaper bundles are usually worse, except for Booster Packs, of course.
A Credits-per-Gold value of 1.4 is pretty solid and if you have excess Gold and already buy Booster Packs every Saturday – it’s a great way to get a lot of Credits at a good rate!
What if you don’t have Hydra Stomper?
And of course let’s not ignore the elephant in the room – Hydra Stomper was released just 5 months ago and is already available as a nice bonus in this bundle. So the chance you don’t have him is pretty high, which is why I recommend considering buying the bundle just for the card.
Naturally the value in that case will be excellent and the bundle will be worth every Gold, unlike buying the bundle when you already have Hydra Stomper.
And whether you actually need this card we’ll talk about in the next section.
Use cases for the Hydra Stomper variant
As you probably guessed – Hydra Stomper’s main place is in move decks. So if you’re into a playstyle where you need to figure out where each card will end up – this bundle might be just what you need!
Alternatively Hydra Stomper can be used in a hybrid of affliction and move decks, as in the example below. It’s not the most common concept and doesn’t often appear in the meta right now but it shows decent results on the ladder.
Conclusion
So, the Punch First Protocol bundle is great for anyone who wants a lot of Credits at a good price, provided they have a sizable reserve of Gold that lets them buy really good Booster Packs every Saturday. The value is overall okay, but if you don’t have Hydra Stomper, the bundle basically becomes a must-have.
For those who don’t have much Gold and already have Hydra Stomper – I recommend skipping the Punch First Protocol bundle and waiting for something better, while buying every Booster Pack.
Ultimately, I think it’s fair to rate the bundle at 3.5 stars. Better than average, but not very impressive if you take the base version without the card. And if you include the card, it’s 5/5, no questions.
Also, don’t forget that you can evaluate this bundle in comparison to others using a variety of different criteria, utilizing the special chart on the dedicated Punch First Protocol bundle page! Below is an updated guide on how to use our tools to evaluate bundles on your own.
