Pet Mansion Featured Location Guide: Strategy, Best Cards and Decks

This week's Marvel Snap Featured Location is Avengers Pet Mansion: This turn, all cards must be played here. Here are our proposed strategies with the best cards and decks that you can try (including for Pool 1 and Pool 2 players) for the next 24 hours for the new meta!

This week’s Marvel Snap Featured Location is Avengers Pet Mansion: This turn, all cards must be played here. This is a brand new location for Marvel Snap’s April 2023 season, Animals Assemble, now added to the Location pool. For the next 24 hours, it will now have a 50% chance of showing up in games. Let’s find out what the best strategies, cards, and decks are with the new patch!

What is Pet Mansion?

Inside the Pet Mansion

This location is exactly what it sounds like: a Pet Mansion for the Pet Avengers. It’s located behind the regular Avengers Mansion. Zabu, Throg, and Lockjaw count themselves among the members of the Pet Avengers.

Strategy

This location has very little impact on most games. Fortunately, as a location that flips during the first few turns, we should be able to play comfortably into it or avoid it entirely, regardless of our deck choices.

Knowing our plays will be locked for one turn 50% of the time does, however, give us options to play into the location to frustrate our opponents and potentially gain an advantage. So, although it doesn’t eliminate or make certain decks significantly harder to play, there are lines that are improved, even if they aren’t as obvious on the surface as some other new locations.

The first direction to explore is Lockation. As we can be reasonably confident that plays are going to land in the location, we can junk the lane up with cards like Viper and Green Goblin and we may be able to quickly steal the lane. Cards like Polaris should also be more effective during the location.

Control decks in general are another direction that benefits from the restrictions attached to this location. We can be relatively sure of one location the opponent will be playing into so we can plan for it.

Lastly, consider including some of the Guardians of the Galaxy (especially Rocket Raccoon) cards as we can guarantee the hit on them more consistently.

Junk decks will benefit from knowing the location will be played into. This build aims to fill lanes as early as Turn 2 and even continue filling them throughout the match. The added benefit of the location can be seen with Green Goblin and Titania, for example, where we can potentially lock out lanes very early. We can then set up finishes with Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, and Shang-Chi.

The Destroyer archetype could be a way to find edges during the location as well. We can use Green Goblin if the location comes up on Turn 3, and if not we can drop a couple cards somewhere early and set up for Professor X.

Alternatively, if the opponent is filling the lane, we can pivot our power into other lanes to set up for Professor X lockdowns. Remember – if we are playing into Pet Mansion, we have fewer cards to contest the other lanes.

Control in general has a unique advantage due to the limitation forcing cards into a specific lane. This version uses some early tools to impact your opponent’s plays and runs Polaris to moving cards into (or out of) the Pet Mansion, depending on how we want to play. We can then follow up with Wave on Turn 5 into Doctor Doom and She-Hulk.

I mentioned the Guardians earlier, and you could try splashing them in your deck of choice during the location for a little bit of location support. If you want to go all in, Bounce can make these cards monsters (and hopefully they will be even stronger due to the location). This is the biggest swing of the week because we are dropping the Rocks in favor of the Guardians, but when this comes together it may be surprising and powerful.

Also, if you are really missing the Rocks, drop Groot and Shang-Chi for Darkhawk and Korg.
