Nidavellir Hot Location Guide: Strategy, Best Cards and Decks

This week's Marvel Snap Hot Location is Nidavellir: Cards here have +5 Power. This location will show up 50% more frequently in games for the next 24 hours. Here are some decks to get you started for all players!

The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Nidavellir: Cards here have +5 Power. The duration and frequency of Featured and Hot Locations are now changing, with less Featured Locations being added per Season, existing Hot Locations taking some of their places, like this week or sometimes not having any at all. The chosen location now also has a 50% increased chance of appearing during games (up from 40% for Featured, down from 60% for Hot). Click here for more information.

Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! So what will you play?

Strategy and General Tips

Nidavellir returns today as our Hot Location. From past experience with this location, there are plenty of fun things you can try to do. For example, you can try using Venom to soak up the power and Taskmaster another lane.

Unfortunately, the reality is you want to try to flood the location with several cards which will stay under 9 power so you don’t get hit with Shang-Chi or you run Armor andCosmo which turn off a lot of the crazy gameplans you can explore for this location.

Thanos decks unfortunately remain a great choice with the location as you can flood the location easily. So instead of rehashing the conversation on Thanos, I want to highlight the other gameplans you can try to use with this type of location.

Iron Man is one option. The card as utility outside of the location but on the location become 5 power and doubles the power of all your other cards on the location. Another option is Professor X, which can follow up some early flood strategies to lock the location on 5.

If you own Thanos, skip to the bottom of the article. For everyone else, the deck build this week may look counter intuitive but is an attempt to make a deck we can use to control the game. Daredevil allows us to see Turn 5 and we can then use either Spider-Man, Professor X or Aero to win the lane we want too. We then can use a combination of the other control tools on Turn 6 to win the other lane.

The key play is Zabu on Turn 2. This allows for you to play 2 tech cards on Turn 6 often. We can then Shang-Chi and Absorbing Man on Turn 6 for example. We can also Aero on 5, use Absorbing Man on Turn 6 alongside another tech card. This provides a lot of options and flexibility.

Killmonger is included to help us against Thanos and other potential flood strategies. Enchantress may be needed if people do go for Ironman strategies.

Earlier collection level players the recommendation is try to flood the location with Ironman and use control tools for the other location. Going with the classic Storm and Jessica Jones as it provides some flexibility to turn off Nidavellir if we want too.

After Credits

This location is can be exploited. Unlike some locations considering this one is important and having some options to win the location. Fortunately the options to include are simply good cards and can slot into several archetypes. Consider Shang-Chi if you want to be reactive, and consider Iron Man to be proactive. Consider both if you’re playing Thanos.

  1. I found the main deck feature deck to be very weak in the 70s rank. My experience is the deck relies too heavily on trying to win Nidavellir, yet can easily be beat by ignoring that lane and doesn’t fight as well for Nid as it could.
