The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Nidavellir: Cards here have +5 Power. This is a Hot Location for Marvel Snap’s September 2023 Season, Loki For All Time, that starts on selected Wednesdays and Sundays at 3 AM GMT. For 24 hours, it has a 50% chance of showing up in games.
Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! So what will you play?
Strategy and General Tips
Nidavellir returns today as our Hot Location. From past experience with this location, there are plenty of fun things you can try to do. For example, you can try using Venom to soak up the power and then play Taskmaster in another lane.

With this location, the reality is that you want to try to flood the location with several cards that will stay under nine power so you don’t get hit with Shang-Chi. Or you can run Armor and Cosmo, but these are also anti-synergistic with some of the more creative ways to use the location.

Iron Man is one option. The card as utility outside of the location, but when played there it gains five power and doubles the power of all your other cards in Nidavellir. Another option is Professor X, which can follow up some early flood strategies to lock the location on Turn 5 (or Turn 4 with a deck like Thanos Control).

If you’re more ambitious, you can use Venom to destroy the cards with additional power and bank it while having ways to spread that power to other lanes (with Arnim Zola, Knull, or Taskmaster, for example). This option can be easily countered, but when it isn’t countered the amount of power you create will consistently win games.

All month long this trickster is likely to get a mention. Why? Well Loki could let you swap your hand for your opponents synergistic location based deck, an effect not to be undervalued but also maybe not always worth building around.
Negative Surfer
I’ll start with Mister Negative. It can fill the location without going over nine power and then back the lane up with Iron Man – even when it misses on Mister Negative by Turn 4. This adds more chances to win games that would normally be losses when the location doesn’t appear.
Thanos Death
Thanos has the ability to fill the location using the Stones. Then, you combine this with Destroy cards like Venom and Carnage to either buff Knull or set up for a juicy Arnim Zola. Knull helps you with opposing Shang-Chi plays a little, but if you’re too greedy with Nidavellir you may end up getting punished. In most games, though, you should have solid plays without the location and get a huge boost when it shows up.
Lockdown
This deck looks to fill the location on the same turn you play Professor X by utilizing Nightcrawler and Jeff the Baby Land Shark. These two cards can move into the location on Turn 5 while helping you buff the other lane you’re contesting with Angela. Then you then have Gamora to play on the last turn in the lane you want to win along with Rocket Raccoon or Kitty Pryde.
Loki
Loki can be anywhere and everywhere, so this weekend trying out the Loki deck to try and beat the Loki decks whilst still being okay. Here we can Invisible Woman and play a key tech card like Killmonger or Shang-Chi prior to playing Snowguard, Kitty Pryde and Loki on 5. We switch out the hand for the final turn miracle with the opponents deck.
Shang-Chi being set up on Nidavellir and then a handful of cheap cards to try and take the other locations is the plan. Our Invisible Woman even protects us from the opponent’s Shang-Chi that they have or get from our Loki.
Series 2 and Below (pre-CL 474)
For early collection level players, the recommendation is try flooding the location with Iron Man and then use the Control tools for the other location. This deck runs the classic Storm and Jessica Jones, as it provides some flexibility to turn off Nidavellir if you want to.
