Hello everyone and welcome to the Marvel Snap Weekly Roundup, your home for all of the major Marvel Snap happenings of the week from your friends here at Marvel Snap Zone. I’m Glazer of Snap Judgments, and I’ll be your guide through everything you need to know to keep up with this game we all love.

Ghost-Spider Releases

  • You can read our full article on Ghost-Spider with a bunch of excellent decks from SafetyBlade here.

Snap Judgments: Ghost-Spider, as Season Pass cards often do, has shaken up the meta. In this case, Move decks are providing a very strong early game power spike. The advantage of this power spike is amplified by a Turn 5 Wave combined with a 2-Cost card like Ghost-Spider in order to lock in that advantage for the end game. Beyond the generally high value of the Season Pass in terms of in-game currencies and cosmetics, Ghost-Spider makes the Season Pass a worthy buy just on the power of the card alone.

Huge OTA Changes Shake Up the Meta

Read our article on the OTA update here.

Snap Judgments: Let’s take these changes one at a time. The Rogue change is a significant power up, and it means we will see more of the card in the meta. Be careful with your Knull, Devil Dinosaur, and Iron Man cards, especially against Surfer decks (the most likely home for the new Rogue).

Medusa as a 2|5 is an overlooked buff; it matches her with Lizard and the upcoming Silk for potential power. She likely has a home in, at least, Sera Miracle decks for the next while.

Spider-Man gaining one cost (and one power) is to mitigate his impact with all of the extra energy cards (Evolved Hulk, Evolved Cyclops, Evolved Misty Knight, and Sunspot) when played in High Evolutionary Lockdown, the current “winningest” deck in the game. The nerf will not affect Galactus decks, despite what developers suggest.

Beast and The Hood‘s nerfs are to negatively impact Kitty Pryde Bounce decks. Considering I still hit Infinite with one while maintaining an 80% win rate, I’m skeptical.

June Series Drops Announced

Snap Judgments: This marks the second month of the unexpectedly changed Series drop schedule. Last month, Darkhawk and Knull were expected to go down to Series 3, but for the second month that is not the case. Many players were also hoping to see Jeff the Baby Land Shark become a Series 4 card, but, again, that is not yet happening.

This is also the first time a Season Pass card has not moved down on schedule, as Zabu is remaining in Series 4 – a huge blow for the availability of one of the most powerful cards in the game. What we do have is Shanna, a card that has thus far underperformed, and Snowguard, a card that probably should have never been in Series 5 to begin with. Stegron has more value than is commonly perceived, and the card may see an uptick in play with the it becoming more available.

Darkhawk Bundle Stirs Up Controversy

Second Dinner is releasing a Darkhawk variant bundle (not previously datamined).

The pricing of this bundle at $30 is far higher than usual for only a cosmetic. And, with Darkhawk still not dropping to Series 3, buying this bundle is one of the only ways for players still working their way through Series 3 to get Darkhawk. Many feel this is Second Dinner trying to force players to buy a powerful card sooner instead of acquiring it for free on the collection track.

Snap Judgments: The optics on this are terrible. Second Dinner have claimed that all of this is part of an upcoming improved card acquisition system, but with sparse details, this type of bundle leads to negative opinions about the company. The feeling is only further amplified since the bundle was not in the earlier datamined bundle information. This feels like another unforced error for the company.

Infinite De-Rank Error Causes Confusion on Ladder

Players in Infinite were not appropriately de-ranked when the new season began. Players who were Infinite should have started the season at 73, but due to an error from Second Dinner, Infinite players were only de-ranked 30 places. That means anyone who was rank 130 or above was Infinite at the start of the season. This has resulted in a far easier climb for many, as previous high ranked Infinite players were not opponents for those not yet in Infinite.

Bundle Releases

Itsy Bitsy Spider Bundle Released

2,500 gold for 3,500 credits, a Miles Morales Variant and Avatar, a title (I Kid, Arachnid), and a card back.

Check out our article on the bundle here.

Snap Judgments: This bundle is poor progression value. As many content creators have noted, given this bundle’s pricing, this feels like a test for Second Dinner to see how much they can charge for a card back. It is worth noting that the bundle only comes with 3,000 credits, but was advertised for 3,500, so those who buy it will receive the extra 500 credits in their inbox.

Hard Eight Bundle Releasing

$20 for 500 Collector’s Tokens, 1,000 credits, 1,500 gold, Doctor Octopus Noir Variant and Avatar, Black Cat Noir Variant and Avatar, and enough boosters to upgrade each once.

Check out our article on the bundle here.

Snap Judgments: This bundle doesn’t seem bad. I still struggle to really evaluate cash bundles to be honest, so rather than give ill-advised advice please check out our article on it above and our friend Savage Yeti’s explanation of June cash bundles overall:
