For the first time since the Ghost-Spider Season in June of 2023, we’re getting a bunch of new Spider-Verse cards with the September 2024 The Amazing Spider-Season of Marvel Snap. Many of these cards continue the use of the Spider-Man Marvel Snap theme – Move. In addition to a huge buff for the Move archetype, we get the game’s first new keyword since launch – Activate. Activate is a once-a-game press on a card for its ability to happen. We’ll do our very best to analyze the new cards with that ability.
Season Pass Card: Symbiote Spider-Man

Symbiote Spider-Man is our new Season Pass card for September, and it surely seems an aggressively great card. It’s a [4/6] that merges with the lowest-cost card at its location and causes it to trigger again as an activated ability. Assuming this works at all as expected, what we have is an amazing boost to numerous cards as this is sort of Hulkbuster combined with Grand Master.
As a Spider card, the easiest and most clear direction for this is to put this on a move card like Human Torch. Giving that (or Deadpool!) +6 power to double seems absurdly strong. However, triggering other powerful abilities again like Ghost-Spider or Iron Fist, Beast, The Hood, Sage, Gladiator, White Widow, and Red Guardian all seems great.
There’s so much more to like here, though. Namora decks? Those run a move subtheme that’s thrilled to have this card and triggering Namora or White Tiger an extra time seems awesome. Black Panther and Arnim Zola decks? That’s a 28 Power Panther that surely seems good. Retriggering move or Negasonic Teenage Warhead? This card seems insane.
Silver Sable – September 3, 2024

I started off not really expecting much of this card, but my opinions have changed. It’s basically always a 1-3, but if your opponent plays the card this hit, it’s suddenly a 1-5. Bounce or retrigger that and you get 1-9 in stats. Sure, the opponent can avoid playing the card afflicted, right? But if they do that all game, you basically got a free Spider-Ham effect out of it. This seems really good…
But it’s kept in check by being counterable. Luke Cage is annoying here, but nothing terrible. The really annoying one is Shadow King. That can get rid of both the negative power that Silver Sable afflicted and the positive that Sable grabbed. Luckily, Shadow King is still rare, so Sable should be awesome.
Madame Web – September 10, 2024

Holy crap. I think Madame Web has to potential to be the best card in Marvel Snap. She can, once a turn, move a card out of her location with her Ongoing ability. That’s crazily strong with move cards like Vulture and Dagger, and more so when combined with Hercules, Ghost-Spider, and Iron Fist. This creates not only a clear tier 1 move deck, but also a move package that can just use a few of these cards as a stat package the way HuskyPuppies is using Iron Fist, Ghost-Spider, and Dagger in current clog.
But that’s not the only thing that makes Madame Web so strong. She can turn any card into Vision once. Good luck figuring out where and how an opponent is allocating power with Madame Web on the board. She allows for a ton of early Sage shenanigans here, but any good power card is super dangerous with Madame Web on the board. She joins Jeff the Baby Land Shark and Nocturne as absolutely insane end-of-game cards for figuring out if you should stay in a game or go… and that means so many more cubes for the Madame Web player!
Arana – September 17, 2024

Speaking of awesome move cards… here’s Araña! So many of move’s problems are that it’s extraordinarily hard to play given the sequencing of Ghost-Spider and Iron Fist. Arana and Madame Web almost totally alleviate that problem by giving you an on-demand move. Arana especially can just be dropped and forgotten until it’s time to take advantage of her ability.
The +2 Power she gives is especially strong on The Human Torch, as it means these two cards together give an immediate 8 power… 16 if you have Hercules out! With bounce, that’s an insane power spike.
And these move cards make clog decks way worse. Clog is often thwarted by cards like Jeff the Baby Land Shark, Nocturne, and Kitty Pride, as it’s hard to figure out where to clog when these cards are in a deck. Adding Madame Web and Arana may well make clog impossible.
But what if we just play this as a 1-Cost Forge. 1-Cost Forge was often a top card in decks that featured cards like Brood and Mister Sinister. Arana may be able to cause that extra bonus while also avoiding the inherent clog problem those cards cause. And given that Silver Surfer likes a good amount of move 3s, we may have a new sub theme.
Scarlet Spider – September 24, 2024

Scarlet Spider is our third activate card of the month after Symbiote Spider-Man and Arana, and he’s a super interesting card, as he makes an exact clone of himself at another location.
4-10 is great stats, and a way to get into harder to reach locations is more than enough on a 4-10 since clog has chased Ms. Marvel from the meta. This card though also seems really great with hand-buffs. A Forge can make this a 5-14, the exact numbers on Ms. Marvel, and there are plenty of other great buffs (didn’t we just talk about Arana) to boot. This feels like a good stuff card, and one it’s really hard to play around.
Closing
That’s it for our early look at September cards. This Season continues the tradition of September cards being insanely strong following Loki, Alioth, Ravonna Renslayer, and Mobius M. Mobius last year. Will anything match up to those stellar cards? What cards will you be opening for this Setpember?
