The Featured Location for the next 24 hours is Lake Hellas: 1-Cost cards here have +2 Power. This is a brand new Location added to Marvel Snap for the July 2023 season, Rise of the Phoenix. For 24 hours, it has a 50% chance of showing up in games. Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! Let’s find out what the best strategies, cards, and decks are for the new meta!
Strategy and General Tips
This location can potentially add up to eight power to your lane if you can fill it consistently. The one major weakness of these decks is Killmonger, so we need to either protect ourselves from Killmonger or delay our plays enough that Killmonger is not a factor.
One deck that can do this safely (and with extra ways to buff the one drops) is Patriot. We can fill the location with at least 12 power from Ultron alone, and then we can add further buffs via our Patriot and Blue Marvel. Ultron can also be hidden behind Invisible Woman to ensure the effect happens last.

Bounce decks can be built to pick up plenty of 1-drops to play on the final turn, exploding onto the board and winning the lane. They can do this while also buffing cards played on other lanes, such as

As the month goes on, some may want to try something different. Ka-Zoo style decks are the final direction to consider. With these decks, we have the ability to take over the location by playing our cards late and using high value 1-drops early on. This direction will need to include Armor, though, as Killmongers are much more likely during the location.

Deck Features
The key here is to stack your key cards behind Invisible Woman and try to ensure your Ultron will go off after the end of the game. This gives you less chance of being countered by Killmonger. We also include Cosmo which should be played on the opponent’s Invisible Woman lane to protect from opposing counter plays.
Outside of this, the plan is simple: fill lanes and play Patriot. I’ve included a slight nod to the possibility of mirror matches with Rogue.
This Bounce list is, admittedly, a bit greedy because it aims to play multiple one drops multiple times without America Chavez. For best results, try to hit three of those one drops with Beast. This gives you plenty of cards to buff
Also, remember to watch your priority; not having priority is your best way to dodge Killmonger.
Last but not least, Sandman Zoo. This deck aims to play Sandman on Turn 5 while ahead to lock out opponents. This could be replaced with Wave, but that would prevent your Turn 6 from being a 4-drop and Jeff the Baby Land Shark.
We also have Zabu to reduce our two key cards, Shanna and Ka-Zar, for a potential burst of power on the final turn.
Series 2 and Below (pre-CL 474)
Series 2 is simple this week. Just play Zoo with the recently buffed Nakia for an extra 3-Cost play. This deck is best played by holding resources for the final turn and setting up cards like Angela, Bishop, and Ka-Zar on the turns leading up to the end of the game.
What is Lake Hellas?

Lake Hellas is a diplomatic ring located on Mars that was created during the terraforming of the planet. It serves as an intergalactic embassy where the Sol System can host consuls and politicians from across the galaxy. Full protection is provided to visiting diplomats while in Lake Hellas, but, outside its borders, individuals are subject to Arakkii law.
