Goliath is the first Series 5 card joining Marvel Snap for the April 2025 season, What if…?. It is a 2-Cost, 1 Power card that reads: Ongoing: +1 Power for each other Ongoing card you have in play. Today, we will take a deeper look at the new card and, of course, the best decks to try it out in.

Spotlight Cache
Series 5 cards can be purchased for 6,000 Collector’s Tokens from the Token Shop initially as a Weekly Spotlight card, or opened as one of the featured cards in the Spotlight Caches that are found every 120 Levels on the Collection Level Track after Collection Level 500 (until the next new card releases the following week). Soon they’ll be part of the new New Series 5 Pack with the launch Snap Packs!
Strengths and Weaknesses
Goliath is a very straight-forward card: if your deck has at least five other Ongoing cards, you’ll have a great 2-Cost.
With Sam Wilson Captain America being staple 2-Cost in several archetypes, this honestly looks like a pretty simple condition to meet. Plus, even if you don’t have the February 2025 Season Pass card, there are plenty of great Ongoing cards in Marvel Snap (even if you only look at the cheap ones).

Honestly, Goliath is a card you want to play in all your Ongoing themed decks—especially those with Ravonna Renslayer so you get another card to discount. Be wary of Enchantress, though, as the card will not only turn off your abilities, but also remove power from Goliath (the cancelled cards won’t be considered Ongoing anymore). Lizard should be worried about its spot in quite a few decks with the release of Goliath, except for Sauron 10 Power.
The Verdict
I like Goliath, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it routinely be the highest power 2-Cost card in the game. It doesn’t fit every deck, but if you enjoy playing Thanos, want to revive a Doctor Doom 2099 deck, or simply enjoy Ongoing themed decks, Goliath is definitely a buy for you.
Pre-Release Score:
Goliath Decks
There are several decks to consider, but Goliath will always only fit in an Ongoing deck, which somewhat limits the flexibility you have with the card. Still, three different builds for a specific ability isn’t bad at all.
In two of those, Thanos and Ongoing Doom, Goliath is just a good 2-Cost that is able to grow to a huge number. Your goal is to have as many Ongoing cards as possible on the board by the end of the game, which is perfect for Goliath.
Ongoing Combo is a tad different compared to the other two because you can keep Goliath in hand and leverage the fact that most people don’t expect a 2-Cost (or 1-Cost with Ravonna Renslayer on the board) to represent that much power. One thing to note here is this deck typically plays fewer Ongoing cards than the other two. Even then, Goliath should be a much better fit than Lizard here.
Yes, I know Captain Carter is also an Ongoing card, and you could definitely use her in these decks as well. Still, I wanted to focus on Goliath for those who aren’t purchasing the Season Pass. If you are, check out our dedicated article about the card; she absolutely fits in most of the decks you would consider Goliath in.

Closing Thoughts
Goliath seems to be a simple but effective card for Ongoing decks. It isn’t very flexible, but it can be very good with the right support. I expect it to replace Lizard in most Ongoing themed decks, as Goliath should most of the time reach six or more power with ease.
