A second consecutive bundle with a Spotlight Key has become available in Marvel Snap. And it seems that it’s even worse than the previous one. Let’s take a closer look.
Guide
Let’s break down the components of the bundle as usual to understand what exactly we will get. Let’s start with the basics – 2,500 Credits at the regular shop rate cost 2,000 Gold. The Key, however, can be valued quite differently, and in our calculations, we usually assume that you have completed Series 3 and only need one card that has just been released.
In the given basic calculation scenario, to get that one card, you will need to spend 2.5 Keys. Considering that you don’t receive any rewards from the CL track, this is equivalent to 2,400 Tokens. Given that, on average, you will also get 500 Tokens from 2.5 Keys, the value of one Spotlight Key amounts to 2,600 Tokens or 3,466 Gold if you spend Gold on Tokens through the new feature to purchase missing Tokens, or 3,250 Gold if you buy the best Token Tuesdays for 1,500 Gold each.
Thus, in the most favorable outcome for the bundle, the contents are equivalent to approximately 5,466 Gold.
But let’s also calculate the more realistic scenario, where there are 2 cards in the Spotlight that you want to get. In this case, to get both cards, you will need an average of 3.33 Keys, and you will also get an average of 667 Tokens, which gives the value of 1 Key as 3,803 Tokens or 5,071 Gold in the most favorable outcome for the bundle, or 4,754 Gold in the best case for the player.
Thus, if there are 2 cards in the Spotlight that you’re interested in getting, the bundle’s contents are equivalent to 7,071 Gold or 6,754 Gold, respectively. This means that even in a fairly realistic scenario, comparing the strategy of buying Token Tuesdays for 1,500 Gold every 2 weeks versus purchasing this bundle, it turns out that it surpasses buying Tokens by only 754 Gold, given the randomness in opening Spotlight Caches. So, you might end up using all 4 Keys, which would reduce the bundle’s value.
It’s also important to remember that with a Key, you don’t receive any accompanying rewards from the reward track and don’t make splits, as you would with Credits, while obtaining a Key requires around 4,846-4,976 Credits.
Excluding the cost of Credits, the “remaining” 4,000 Gold in the bundle is just enough for 5,000 Credits, which will give you 3 cosmetic items (variant, avatar, or title), 100 Collector’s Tokens, and 2 Series 3 cards if you haven’t collected them all, or with a 50% chance, another 100 Collector’s Tokens if you have collected all Series 3 cards.
Therefore, even if you want to get the Spotlight key, it’s more beneficial to simply buy Credits instead of the bundle, as you’ll even get, on average, 1 variant and an avatar, compensating for the cosmetics from the bundle.
Comparison With Other Bundles
The Dreams Come Drew bundle, both when compared to other bundles for Gold and when compared to bundles of identical cost over the past 6 months, performs quite poorly and is significantly below average in both cases. So, according to the charts, this is one of the worst bundles recently, if you are aiming for 1 desired card in the Spotlight.
If we compare the number of new cards for 700 Gold, the bundle also ranks near the bottom. With an average value of 0.09 cards for 700 Gold, this bundle has only 0.08, whereas one of the recent bundles, Glows to the Chest, had as much as 0.11, nearly the maximum.
Thus, this bundle looks very poor compared to its competitors, both among the old bundles from last year and the newer ones, which already have low value.
The Usefulness Of The Variant In The Meta
Spider-Woman is a Series 1 card, so we will consider it strictly as an variant and nothing more, as everyone already has her in their collection.
Currently, Spider-Woman is almost nonexistent in the meta. Her presence is mainly associated with experimental Ajax deck builds, which perform at about the same level as without Spider-Woman, so including her isn’t necessary. Nevertheless, below is a deck featuring Spider-Woman.
Conclusion
Thus, the Dreams Come Drew bundle doesn’t justify itself at all. According to the current calculation method, it’s even worse than buying identical resources in the shop. If we try to adjust the calculation method and give more value to the Keys, we still find that it’s more beneficial, in terms of resources obtained, to simply buy Credits in the shop for the same 6,000 Gold and have the same Spotlight Key and a bit more.
