Good morning all! I’m back at Marvel Snap Zone every weekday with a deck of the day: a top deck for you to try out! My aim for this article is to get you in and out quickly and give you something new to play every day along with the tools to do well with it. If you want three more new decks today, check out this video!

Very simply put, Diamondback looks incredibly strong. She does nothing on her own, but her ability to amplify the things that the decks she goes in want to do can turn her base [3/3] stat line into a potential [3/11]. But even if she’s only a [3/5] or [3/7], the her ability only working on your opponent’s cards is incredibly powerful.
The obvious home and answer for this card are the standard Ajax decks. Those decks run Hazmat, Man-Thing, and U.S. Agent, and adding an extra -2 power to any of those abilities can easily win a game. She’s also incredible with quite a few simpler cards: stuff like Scorpion and Cassandra Nova, or the new Sanctum Showdown card, Laufey. All of those can turn this simple [3/3] into a complete powerhouse.
Luke Cage entirely nukes her, but that kind of only matters this week or in certain metas. This week, since she’s the new card, people will run her counter because anyone who gets her will want to try out their new toy. By next week, however, we’ll have a new season and two new cards—Agamotto and Eson—and when people go try that Luke may well be left behind. And then it’ll be Diamondback‘s time to shine!
As I often do, I asked the game’s top player, Sizer, what he planned to do with the new card, and I was surprised with the answer. The deck Sizer will be using is a Sera Control list built to use Diamondback to steal one lane and then use the massive tempo the deck provides to steal another.
Diamondback here is meant to synergize with Man-Thing, U.S. Agent, and Hazmat. In a full Hazmated lane, your opponent’s cards will have lost four total power, which lets Diamondback play for a [3/15] if you have Luke Cage. Man-Thing or U.S. Agent are usually enough to steal another lane, and so this deck comes together as a powerful, scary force.
It is, however, expensive to play all these cards, and that’s where Sera comes in. In this deck, Sera represents an extra four or five energy on the game’s final turn—a similar amount to Wiccan with far less setup. With Sera out, you can play Luke Cage, Hazmat, U.S. Agent, and Diamondback all in one turn.
That’s a lot of combo pieces, and you do need Sera to make it work… which is where Malekith comes in. Not only does Malekith potentially grab a key piece of the deck, he also makes you more likely to draw Sera. Even better, if you can keep Malekith alone in a corner lane, Grand Master will give you a shot at a second key piece to end the game! He really ties this deck together.
