Good morning all! I’m back at Marvel Snap Zone every weekday with a deck of the day: a top deck for you to try out! My aim for this article is to get you in and out quickly and give you something new to play every day along with the tools to do well with it. If you want three more new decks today, check out this video!

Thaddeus Ross is today’s new Marvel Snap card, and I feel like everyone looked at this guy and went oh, a card for Skaar decks. That may be true; he’s certainly worth testing there, but I’m not convinced that’s all he’s good for. Those decks have a lot of cards they really want to play on Turns 1 and 2 like Zabu, Iron Patriot, and Armor… and they are now often using their 2-Cost slot for Sam Wilson Captain America in order to avoid having to play extra 1-Costs for Cull Obsidian. I’m just not sure there’s room for Thaddeus Thunderbolt Ross under those circumstances.
That doesn’t mean the card has no home, though—I think Hela decks will love this card. No, he won’t draw Hela, but any card he draws will thin your deck to make Hela more likely to show up. Since she’s such a powerful win condition, that’s huge. I took my day one of the Hela change deck that was putting up great stats and changed it around a bit. This is the list I’ll be starting with on stream later today!
This list is fairly simple: discard big cards and play Hela. You rarely play anything on Turn 1 or 2, unless you get lucky with Blade hitting The Infinaut right away, so Thaddeus Ross makes perfect sense. I keep hearing people say that he’ll never trigger and that opponents can play around him too easily, but I’ve played enough Wiccan to know it’s not always a choice.
The discard cards are fairly specific in this one. Be careful with Sword Master (it might hit Blade and Lady Sif), but if you can hit Iron Man or Aero you should be pretty happy. Lady Sif is usually meant to hit Death, but if you have a clear hit on The Infinaut then you should definitely take it. Hellcow could hit anything, big or small—just remember to activate him right before you play Hela.
The rest of the deck is just consistency pieces. Thaddeus Ross gets Black Cat (who discards herself), Jubilee digs deeper into the deck to get more combo pieces, and Hela wins the game. This won’t always work, right? Sometimes the wrong order or an accidental Hela discard will happen, but it should work more than enough to lead to huge power and big wins.
