The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Dark Dimension: Cards here are not revealed until the game ends. This is a hot location for Marvel Snap’s May 2023 season, Guardians’ Greatest Hits. For the next 24 hours, it will now have a 50% chance of showing up in games. Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! Let’s find out what the best strategies, cards, and decks are for the new meta!

Strategy and General Tips

Dark Dimension is here, and this one is a location which changes how you can play the game significantly whilst allowing for most decks to still be playable. This creates a situation where we can expect some types of greedy gameplans to have more success, but also being able to play the decks from yesterday.

The decks which can have more success are ones which rely on revealing cards in an order to overwhelm their opponents and benefit from doing this without priority. These include Hela, Black Panther and Wong, Omega Red and Hazmat. These decks all can operate without Dark Dimension but find if they can hide the combo in the location they can avoid a lot of counterplay.

The best of these currently is Hela as it can incorporate Invisible Woman already to create two lanes that both can be used to activate Hela. One key interaction to keep in mind is Invisible Woman and Dark Dimension both activate at the same time. So your play order into both is carried over. One does not reveal before the other. For example – Turn 1 Blade into Dark Dimension, Turn 3 Lady Sif behind Invisible Woman then Turn 6 Hela behind Invisible Woman will reveal as Blade, Lady Sif then Hela. This ability to play between the lanes is why Hela is the deck which benefits the most as the other Dark Dimension decks often lean entirely into one location.

Wong based decks though can use the location to hide what they are doing and then go off on turn 6. Wong, Mystique then Professor X is already a combination which can steal games, hidden behind Dark Dimension ensures your combinations always go off last. This can mean you can create combinations around cards like Gambit and Silver Surfer which are hard to predict as well as a more straightforward Doctor Doom or White Tiger combinations.

These locations often have one common weakness you should consider if you want to modify your deck against them – Cosmo. Including Cosmo in other decks during the 24 hours may ruin a lot of these greedy decks.

Another card which is worth considering as a slight change during the location is Ebony Maw. This card can be played into the location without any downside and be a 1 energy for 7 power when the location appears. Attuma has a similar upside to Ebony Maw by not being revealed after the game, negating the effect.

To start the Hot Location period, I have quite the deck. This deck looks to abuse both Attuma and Ebony Maw along with the new Hulk.

The whole goal of the deck is too do nothing, play MODOK into one of your lanes followed by Hela and win the game. Whilst you are doing nothing, Sunspot and Hulk grow in power. This makes your Hela combo even stronger. Whilst your doing this Ebony Maw and Attuma can be played in one of your hidden lanes. That is 17 power without any downside potentially. Consider this scenario: Turn 1 Ebony Maw, Turn 4 Attuma, Turn 6 Hulk. That is 17 power in 1 lane and 18 power in another lane.

This deck is already a sleeper in my opinion and this location my just bring about the Hela Evolution. One personal note. This includes Giganto currently. I would prefer to run Captain Marvel, Aero or Magik in this slot personally but this lowers your combo ceiling. I would also consider going all in and dropping Hellcow.

Without High Evolutionary, we can include Blade and more Discard effects along with an On Reveal package. This allows for some potential retrigger high rolls and this means we don’t fully rely on drawing the full Hela combination every game.

First a basic On Reveal deck. Goal is to play as few cards as possible for as much power as possible. This relies on playing Wong into a combination of cards behind him which go wide and spread power. This can be built with and without Series 5 cards and has the added bonus of playing few cards during set up, leading to very few negative power effects working on the cards.

If you do want to watch the world burn, this is a version which also tries to retrigger Gambit alongside the White Tiger combinations. This also runs less Series 3 cards and can be a more accessible way to enjoy this location.

Finishing up with a build aiming to counter everything whilst pushing absurd power itself. We have all the tools here. Cosmo can counter opposing greed, Gambit can destroy decks which have gone tall, Rogue helps us remove key ongoing targets, Goose soft locks lanes and Silver Surfer comes in to finish off the opponent.

Here we have an on reveal deck which incorporates Guardians of the Galaxy cards. This is because you can play them into Dark Dimension and if anything is played on 6 at that location the effects trigger. They also synergize well with Storm and Odin to finish lanes early or late.

What is the Dark Dimension?

The Dark Dimension, also known as the Darkforce Dimension, the Hell Dimension, or simply Hell, is a vast dimension in the Multiverse ruled by Dormammu. A strange and hostile dimension, it is an amalgamation of itself and all other dimensions Dormammu had conquered and absorbed into it. Time does not exist in the Dark Dimension in the same way it does within the regular universe. This allows it to be the power source of life-extending spells and the removal of mortality, at times, giving sorcerers superhuman abilities beyond their magic.

The Dark Dimension is also the source of the energy known as the Darkforce, or Dark Matter, that sometimes has been able to pour into Earth. In specific domains within this dimension reside the entities worshiped on Earth as the Loa, and exiled sorcerers like Morgan le Fay. Furthermore, the Dark Dimension contains an obscure dark world known as Hell, home to the Spirit of Vengeance, a realm of never-ending darkness, devoid of any form of light and warmth, that tries to absorb any living being who goes near it.
