Welcome to our new series of Marvel Snap guides, where we feature a Series 4 or 5 card and analyze how to use it. The goal is to give you a tutorial on how to use the card most effectively in an everchanging meta, as well as help you decide if the card is worth the tokens or if you should pick it up during a Spotlight Cache week!
We will aim to revise this guide each time it becomes featured in a Spotlight Cache. If the card becomes rebalanced or the meta has changed a lot, please let us know in the comments and we will look to update it based on demand!

Series 5 cards can be purchased for 6,000 Collector’s Tokens from the Token Shop initially as a Weekly Spotlight card, or opened as one of the featured cards in the Spotlight Caches that are found every 120 Levels on the Collection Level Track after Collection Level 500 (until the next new card releases the following week).
Who is Corvus Glaive?

Corvus Glaive is a member of Thanos‘s Black Order, and is married to fellow member Proxima Midnight. Corvus is the most loyal servant of Thanos. He betrayed his own people in pursuit of a higher glory by Thanos‘s side. The “Glaive” portion of his name comes from his literal Glaive weapon he yields. The weapon is extremely powerful, granting the ability to cut through nearly any person and resurrect it’s wielder.
His most notable media appearance is in Marvel’s Infinity War and End Game films. He appears as a member of the black order who attacks vision and the Avengers as he seeks out the Mind Stone. Aside from the Black Order, Corvus is a very limited character with few appearances compared to other villains.
How to Use Corvus Glaive
Corvus Glaive is a discard ramp hybrid. His double discard makes his ramp ability very niche, but he has found a couple of homes that put him to good use. He is best used when double dipping both functions of his card, not just using him for discard or for ramp.
Best Synergies
With multiple early game discards, Corvus Glaive works great with Hela in a number of ways. First, he offers a way to discard targets for Hela to revive. If you discard Hela by mistake, his ramp offers a second option. You can have extra energy and simply play your big cards out directly.

Specifically with use in Hela decks, Corvus works perfectly with Blink! With the ramp, you can curve turn 4 to exchange Corvus for a higher Cost card! This can help you find your Hela, or simply exchange him for a higher Powered card.

For a more early game combo, Corvus can discard multiple targets like Hellcow. This makes him work great with Strong Guy to empty your hand. Though once you get higher CL, Strong Guy decks start to disappear. The synergy is still worth mentioning for new players though.

Meta Competitive Deck
This is THE meta deck that pushed Hela to the point of receiving her first nerf. While the deck isn’t as strong as it once was pre-nerf Hela, it still remains a viable option in the meta. As Corvus’s synergy with Hela describes, this deck allows you 2 play lines with him. First, discard big cards and revive them with Hela. Second, use the extra energy to play the big cards outright. That extra energy can also help you decide if you should Hela on turn 5 or turn 6!
Fun Off-Meta Deck
If you have plenty of cards and don’t care about what you discard, Corvus Glaive can be used simply for Ramp! This deck leans on that idea by using Stones and early game fodder to help you ramp out your big late game cards. If you manage to discard your big stuff, Hela acts as your secondary win condition instead of your primary.
Weaknesses and Things to Avoid
Corvus only has one real counter. Cosmo can stop his On Reveal from triggering, causing him to fail and be a standard [3/5].
Something worth noting is that you are required to discard 2 cards in order to get the energy buff. If you only have 1 card to discard, Corvus will discard it, but you won’t get any extra energy from it.
Closing Thoughts
Corvus Glaive is the kind of card that should be 3k tokens at maximum. His ability really only works in Hela Ramp, making him extremely narrow in deckbuilding. The latest iterations of Hela don’t even use Corvus anymore. While he can still be useful, I wouldn’t recommend players seek him out unless you are a serious discard fan that wants all options available.
Is Corvus Glaive worth using 6K Collector’s Tokens?
