Sersi Decks & Week 1 Review: Bonus Challenge Guide

Complete the Bonus Challenge Missions efficiently using our decks, or find out how they are performing with our review and decide if you should get the card!

During the weekend, there is now one more set of Missions for players to complete: The Bonus Challenge! These involve additional rewards for winning games related to the week’s new card and the Season Pass card. These missions provide extra Collector’s Tokens, Gold and Credits!

You need to win games with the card starting in your deck, and it does not count if the card was generated by cards such as Cable, Loki, and Maria Hill. Each of these reward amounts will vary depending on the difficulty of the mission.

There will be Bonus Challenge Missions available for each new card release to allow players to earn back Collector’s Tokens and subsidize their cost. Players can also expect the rewards to be stabilized at 200 Tokens to help them plan their token budget for the month.

The Celestials’ Finest: Bonus Challenge – June 14, 2024

The distribution for the Bonus Challenge this season appears to be similar to the April 2024 Thunderbolts Season and it has been confirmed by the developers that this month will be backloaded for the final two weeks. This week’s Bonus Challenge Missions are:

Mission#Reward
Win with Brood starting in your Deck4125 Credits
Win with Sersi starting in your Deck4200 Collector’s Tokens
Win with Jubilee starting in your Deck4125 Credits

Most players will want to be efficient with these missions, so today we will give you a few different decks that incorporate both cards featured each weekend.

We’ll also give you a short guide on how to get the most out of the decks and finish the missions quickly. First, let’s take a quick look at the new cards’ performance this week.

Sersi Performance

Sersi Meta Stats

The latest addition in The Celestials’ Finest season is Sersi. This card was destined to divide opinions since the outcomes can be either game winning or game losing. Sersi transforms all cards you have at that location to cards that cost one more. This means you can turn cards like The Void into Cannonball, but you could also turn White Tiger into Destroyer. So, is this random outcome just too much to make her worthwhile, or did she end up being the best Turn 5 play?

Sersi partners with sets of cards really well. The cards she works best with add value elsewhere that can be transformed into power later on. Sentry is one of the main cards that fits that mold, and it has ended up feeling almost mandatory with Sersi. Sentry produces the 4-Cost The Void which transforms into a 5-drop, thus transforming -8 power into a possible game winning threat. This is an incredibly powerful combination that adds another way to deal with Sentry‘s downside outside of Annihilus. Decks with this combination have found much more success than without, and this leads me to the current limiting factor for Sersi: she is limited in application outside of this, especially in the current meta.

The biggest issue is board space. For Sersi to have an impact outside of hitting The Void, you need to hit cards in the 3-Cost to 5-Cost range. The best targets for this are cards like Brood, Shanna, and White Tiger, all of which take up multiple spots on your board. With cards like White Widow seeing lots of play, this can be risky because you can end up getting locked out (and without the board space, Sersi cannot be played). While she is in theory a counter to these cards, they are often played early enough in the game that they actually block your Sersi entirely. However, with this meta impact out of the way, Sersi is pure upside on average.

The Verdict

Yes, she can hurt you at times, but the majority of the time if you’re hitting two to three cards she will win the lane. The effect is just too powerful to write off, and I think players might regret not picking her up as the decks refine their game plans. However, she requires a bit of trust in RNG, and that might be enough of a knock for many players. If you’re on the fence about this card already, it should be a skip. But don’t underestimate the power of raw numbers as the weeks pass by.

If you want the safest way to play Sersi, this is it. This deck has a solid game plan at every cost, and all of the cards synergize with each other to allow for on-curve game play that generally produces more stats than the average deck. This will give you the most consistency when playing Sersi, and has game into most decks currently (especially after the OTA).

Looking at going all-in on Sersi, this build focuses on setting up big Sersi lanes. You want to play Brood with Move cards to block potential Junk cards from filling up your lane. Then on the final turns you can move your cards and play Sersi. Sentry, Mockingbird, and Sasquatch let you play power earlier to grab priority before Sersi finishes the game.

This is another “safe” option that uses Sersi to remove Electro on curve. This has some added benefits since she synergizes really well with Blink and Jubilee as well, on top of being an excellent draw from both. I also included Nightcrawler over Nebula to allow for a move into the Sersi lane if you need to produce a little more power. One more key synergy is the ability to transform both Sandman and Leech if you pull them out early into big 6-drop plays.

Finally, this direction is picking up momentum fast. It incorporating the new card as another way to deal with The Void in a general Death-based deck. This allows for multiple cards to be reduced significantly throughout the game, and this deck has enough interaction to attack (and resist) key opposing counter cards.

For Jubilee alone, one deck which is explosive and surprising is Mister Negative and Tribunal. Xunzz managed to take this deck to #1 in the world and it is worth giving a run if you have the cards during the weekend.

For Brood it’s a simple task. We pull out Silver Surfer variety of our choice and play. This one also includes the Mockingbird synergy but she can be replaced with another 3 drop, Jeff or even Sera. Goal – play cards and play Silver Surfer.

Closing Thoughts

Wins with the new card may seem a tall order some weeks depending what quality of card is released. Hopefully this guide helps you decide first if you want the card prior to the missions coming out, and what you can potentially play to complete the missions quickly!
